Mewtwo Archive

You know, like Pikachu almost killed Ash the first time he zapped him and Ash has been in a coma every since, and the entire events of the show are his fever dream? Or my personal favorite: Giovanni is Ash’s dad. Because that would be a new and never-before-done twist!

Well now you can re-enact that dream with Nendoroid Giovanni! And, perhaps more excitingly, he comes with a freaking giant Mewtwo. Like, HUGE. Look at that guy. He’s perfect. I’m assuming that because of Mewtwo’s addition Giovanni does not have a ton of accessories, but he does have my new favorite alternate Nendoroid face and, of course, a pokeball to catch that darn Pikachu. And if you order through the Pokemon Center (where he will be listed in a few days), you get a Beast Ball! But orders through the Goodsmile Shop get an awesome Team Rocket base. Decisions! He retails for ¥5,000 and will come out in August.

We’ve got new games coming out (which means new starter wars–I’m team Litten, though Rowlet is cute af), we’ve got so many figures… what a time to be alive. And what a day for Pokemon news! We have double the fun. First up, Kotobukiya’s Ash (or Red, or whatever you want to call him) is painted. And so perfect! I’ve dreamed of this for so long.

Then we have two new announcements from MegaHouse. They’ll be adding both Nurse Joy and Brock to their G.E.M line! And so far, it hasn’t included exclusives so… hey, a girl can dream. Nurse Joy comes with Chancey and Brock comes with Geodude (and friends) and I am TOO EXCITED. They’ve been working on their Pokemon S.H.Figuarts line for years now, even though it seems to have come to a halt recently, and you’d really think this would be the first character they chose. But no, we got quite a few Pokemon and no Pikachu! Finally, that terrible wrong will be righted.

Pikachu looks super adorable, if a little chunky, here. Of course the joints are a bit distracting (to me, at least), but we know that he’ll come with some good accessories! Or some extra faces, at the very least, which is always nice. They also showed off some of the older ones (Charizard, Blastoise, Venasaur, Mewtwo) with new effect parts. Re-release on the horizon, or will they release them separately?

[via 1up]

There are a ton of figures this time around, a few more than usual actually. Surprisingly, most of our major players are absent. We have no new PVC figures from Alter, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Kotobukiya, or MegaHouse. This means that a ton of smaller companies all happened to release their figures at the same time. We’ve also got quite a few re-releases, and an unusual amount of NSFW ladies. So hit the jump to check out the wacky assortment of figures that went up this week!
