  • October is absolutely my favorite month, and it’s right around the corner! Fall weather, sweaters, pumpkin spice, beautiful foliage, and of course…. Halloween! Horror! Blood and guts! Spooky movies!! Can you tell I’m done with summer? Only fall now. Only spooks. One of my most-anticipated horror-related figures has been Kotobukiya’s Pinhead Bishoujo: which is funny, because for years I insisted that it was an idea that could never be executed properly. When we got the art it turned out that I was horribly, horribly wrong. Now she’s all sculpted and painted and up for order and I am so in love. They really nailed the perfect balance between sexy and creepy. Bishoujo Pinhead is priced at ¥11,000 and is slated for a February release. Do you plan on picking her up? Pre-Order At: AmiAmi | HLJ | Hobby Search | Big In Japan

  • Last summer at San Diego Comic Con we got word that Kotobukiya would be making a bishoujo of Ash Williams from Evil Dead 2, and now, at Toy Fair, we finally got to see that teaser art in its glorious full sculpt. What was on hand at Toy Fair was actually a test cast sample and not even a paint master, so, this is relatively close sculpt wise to what will be appearing in your homes, and boy is she gorgeous! Do note that there’s a few blemishes and breaks here due to transport, which is a testament to the amount of detail and fine sections on this piece. I really love all of the fringe on her clothing, the hand coming out of the floor that she’s standing on, the addition of the book of the dead, and well, honestly, all of it. The chainsaw looks great, her clothes are incredibly detailed, and this is honestly one of the best bishoujo figures I’ve seen yet. Now hit the gallery and get to drool over her too!

  • Since the inception of the horror Bishoujo line I have been joking about Pinhead from Hellraiser being added, just because it seemed so preposterous. I mean, how are you going to make a human with a pincushion head sexy? But when a real live in-the-plastic Hellraiser Bishoujo got announced this summer I found myself pretty excited. What would she look like? Would it be a disaster, or a masterpiece? Well the art is finally here, and it might be the most dynamic Bishoujo pose we’ve had so far. She’s so floaty! As you could probably guess I am not a fan of the outfit though: a little too… exposed for my taste. But let’s be real, how can I not be hyped for bondage cutie Pinhead? [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Kotobukiya’s horror Bishoujo line has given us quite a few gender-swapped baddies in 1/7 scale plastic, and next up to the table is Michael Meyers! After Freddy and Jason this seems like a natural progression, no? While this may be an expected announcement it’s still exciting for me, because I adore Halloween. What horror fan doesn’t? I even got to see John Carpenter do the theme live! It’s hard to tell from just the silhouette but this is looking pretty awesome already. [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • In a galaxy far, far away, Good Smile Company was plotting on how to take all of our money… We have had quite a few figures from the new Star Wars movies, but for some mysterious reason there was a strange lack of Rey. I mean, she’s kind of the hero, so you would expect a little more merch. But it took two movies for us to finally get a Nendoroid of her! But yes, it’s finally happening: Rey Nendoroid! I’m going to be honest: I’m a little disappointed by this release. It’s really lacking in accessories (we basically only get lightsabers), and I wish we’d gotten a hair-up option. Or at least a mini Porg! She still looks pretty cute though, and ¥4,800 (and a July release) isn’t exactly going to break the bank. But I’m a little more hyped for the Kylo re-release because I missed him the first time around! Pre-order at: AmiAmi | HLJ | Hobby Search

  • I must admit that there was one reveal I was really hoping for from Kotobukiya this convention: a Bishoujo Pinhead art reveal! Sadly, it was not to be. They did have her info card out, and I feel like we might be getting a Halloween reveal for the design. At least, I hope–it’d be the perfect end cap to Spooktober. They did have quite a few game and movie Bishoujos, like the gorgeous new Cammy and Decapre, along with the art for Ash Williams. But it wasn’t all Bishoujos–ArtFX Jason was also out and about, along with Freddy’s announcement. I can’t wait to see them together (and displayed with the Freddy & Jason Bishoujos, how cute would that be?). There was also a Resident Evil statue announcement, and I’m really hoping we get a Bishoujo companion to that.

  • Finally, it has happened. We’ve know about Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line for a while, and in fact Nightwing has been finished for quite some time, but I have been counting down the hours until I got to see him in person. And it was glorious. Just look at that butt! They didn’t even neglect the bulge ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I am all about equal opportunity sexy figures. Oh, they had more than Nightwing in their DC section, though! A lot, actually. The star for me was the huge ArtFX Wonder Woman who is just… so beautiful. Dead-on likeness for Gal. They also had a ton of ArtFX+ figures, both the Justice League line and the TV show line. And many Bishoujos, of course! Hit the jump to see them all in action.

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • Prize figures have always been appealing: you get a cheap version of a popular character, often in an outfit that we’d never see in scales. Plus, the quality gets better and better on them every year. With rising scaled figure prices and a worsening exchange rate, prize figures are looking better than ever, so it’s a good thing the upcoming lineup of them seems amazing! We have all the regulars out and about: Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, Bakemonogatari, Miku, Lupin, and many many more. The noodle topper ones really seem to be taking the prize world by storm: I have a few and can vouch for how amazingly fun they are to display all sorts of odd ways. Any of them catch your eye? • Every Wonder Festival I think to myself “there can’t possibly be even more Nendoroids at the next WonFest.” Then, like magic, the Nendo Creep happens and we get at least 5-10 more than last year at the next event. It’s a plague, a really cute plastic plague. I think they’re multiplying on their own at this point. This year we have a bounty of Nendos, so let’s get into it. We’ve got Ariel, Astolfo, Mordred, Lina Inverse, Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Elf Yamada from Eromanga Sensei, Portal 2, KanColle, Meitantei Conan, Beatrice from Re;Zero, Wonder Woman, Overwatch, Mega Man, The Snack World, Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, and so much more. They are all named in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. And don’t forget we’ve already seen Nendos from Orange Rouge, Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, and Vocaloid! Which one are you looking forward to the most? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life For You site and King Junker’s Twitter]
