Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse Archive

Yes, cuter than Append Rin & Len, or even Cheerful Saber & Rin! Maybe it’s my weakness for the Muv-Luv girls talking, but I am smitten by this newest duo. It’s probably also the fact that unlike a lot of recent Nendoroids (and figmas) these ladies come with a lot of goodies: but we’ll get to that in a second! First, let’s tlak about how awesome they look. From the soft gradient in their purple hair to the shiny plugsuits, they’ve done a fantastic job recreating their anime appearance.
Now for the goodies! Both come with cockpits and of course some creepy/cute Beta pals, much like the first Muv-Luv Nendoroid Yui Takamura. They’re so strange looking! Inia will also come with her teddy bear, and Cryska has a sniper rifle. As for faces they actually only have two, but they’re a doozy: there’s the “standard” ones and then… insane faces! Yes, these are on par with “swan song” and the amazing Hibiki face. But as you may recall, Yui had a pretty scary/amazing bloody face as well, so it’s no surprise this duo has creepy faces as well! They’ll be up for order on the 16th.

It’s no secret that I have been head over heels in love with Kotobukiya’s Muv-Luv line, which so far has included Yui Takamura and Cryska Barchenowa. Both are just…. uhnf, so beautiful! At Wonder Festival they finally showed off the third girl in the set, Inia, who also happens to be my favorite of the trio. I mean, come on, she’s just so damn cute.
Funnily enough in terms of pose and sculpting Inia is my least favorite of the three. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a beautiful figure and I am really looking forward to ordering her, but Yui and Cryska come out a little bit ahead on this one. However, I prefer them as a set over individually: the picture of all 3 together is just perfection. Come on, pre-orders, open faster!

Welcome to the week of girls whose name starts with Y! We’ve got Yuki, Yui, Yumi and Yami. Yup, totally not confusing at all! While there are only ten figures this week we’ve got some really great (and very expensive) ones, ranging from painfully cute to totally badass to downright confusing. So check them all out after the jump!

So we all know Hobby Japan’s newest exclusive, Yui Takamura, is cute, but is she worth the exclusive status? I mean if she was Kotobukiya or Max Factory I think many people would have picked her up in an instant, but not only does she cost more she is made by Amakuni, HJ’s manufacturing company who, while not terrible, certainly doesn’t rank among the best.
Let’s be honest: as cute as she is, she’s not “oh my goodness how beautiful let me spend $150 on you!” There are some weird features to her sculpt, like that one toe sticking out (which, for some reason, really bugs me). As time goes on I grow less and less enamored with her, though I still do love her face! But I have a feeling this will be one of those exclusives you can find for close to retail pre-owned, I think I’ll be sitting on the sidelines until then!

Hobby Japan, everyone’s purveyor of awesome but exclusive figures! Since they make so few a year through their manufacturing company Amakuni, it’s no surprise that only two new ladies were on hand, along with their lovely Yui Takamura. The first is that Soniko that we heard about, who looks cute but not like what I expected. Something is off about her bust, it looks too bulky and not at all like the illustration!
Then we have the majestic girl in the header, the Dark General from Shingeki no Bahamut. Anyone want to place bets on how much she will cost? Not like it matters, because I must have her no matter what! As pretty as she is I’m disappointed in the lack of 7 Sins figures, but maybe that has something to do with Asmodeus’ massive delay…

Kotobukiya usually has one of the biggest booths at any event, so you can expect a lot of figures! And indeed, we have a veritable ton. Let’s start with the teasers: they’re all here (of course)! Kobato, Ayase, Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi, Maou, and Meiya Mitsurugi, Panis, and Yukiho (along with a painted Hibiki). But of course it wasn’t all given away before.
As far as new figures go, we’ve got… Gumi! Yes, the Vocaloid. Surprising, I know, but she looks great! There’s also their Horizon figure of Honda that we found out about so long ago, brought back to live, as well as art for Tomo. There’s also the last of the Muv-Luv Total Eclipse girls, Inia, looking as divine as you’d expect. Oh, and Cu-Poche Mami! Phew, that’s a lot. But stay tuned… we have one more piece of Koto news for you coming up!

Well after the abomination that was last week, companies had a lot to make up for this time around–and they delivered! We have a particularly packed roundup for you this week, with tons of beautiful ladies and four (yes FOUR) Nendoroids! We’ve got magical girls, animal girls, girls with guns, girls in swimsuits, and one lone boy. So hit the jump and let’s get started!

It’s no secret that I am totally in love with Kotobukiya’s Muv-Luv Alternative line, especially the gorgeously aloof Cryska Barchenowa. She’s just so pretty! Not to mention that purple and blue together is one of my favorite color schemes, and her cool demeanor perfectly fits the shades they went with. Also, she’s just so shiny!
We’ve got a new gallery of this beauty, including a shot demonstrating how her base will link up with the lovely Yui Takamura. I cannot wait until we get the third member of the trio, Inia!

Muv-Luv is definitely having its day in the sun. Tons of scaled figures, Nendoroids, and of course figmas for the main 3 girls. We’ve seen Yui Takamura’s figma, and now it’s time for the icy beauty Cryska! As you’d expect she looks great, with a sleek sculpt and a gorgeous color palette, along with her faithfully rendered plugsuit.
As is the trend with Max Factory, she comes with pretty much nothing: there’s a gun and an extra blushing fce. yup, that’s it. I don’t know why they slack off so much nowadays, but it’s a frustrating trend. Cryska will retail for ¥3,500 with a June release, and expect orders tonight. The third girl, Inia, actually doesn’t have an announced figma yet but I assume we’ll see one at WonFest.

Why are exclusives always so pretty? We rarely get ugly exclusives, and I always want the nice ones. Especially Hobby Japan’s which really do seem to be the best. Then again, EVERY Hobby Japan figure is an exclusive. We got all of Yui Takamura’s details in the recent magazine scans, and unsurprisingly orders have just started!
Yui is 1/7 scale and retails for ¥7,800 with an August release. Given her larger size (9 inches) and two faces, that’s not a bad price at all! Orders will be open until March 11th, so you have a while to make up your mind. Personally, I definitely want her–I love her cute face and yellow is a swimsuit color we rarely see!
