Nightmare on Elm Street Archive

  • We’ve already taken a peek at the two new Bishoujos at Toy Fair: Sakura and Sniper Wolf. But of course they had a whole lot more at the event! I mean, it’s kind of their signature line, at least in the US market. There were plenty of the older and soon-to-be released girls like Freddy & Jason and Batwoman, along with all those new announcements from the past few weeks: Raven, Lady Deadpool, Tali, and Wasp. There’s also a look at Black Canary’s long-awaited new sculpt! We’ll be bringing you full galleries of all the new girls later this week (including She-Hulk with the new face), so what Bishoujos are you currently looking forward to?

  • I really like horror movies. A lot. I even have a personal blog where I write about them (…sometimes. Okay, it’s a book & makeup blog, but I occasionally write about movies! And sometimes they’re horror movies. It totally counts). They are sacred ground to me. Can you imagine a cute, chibi Damien from The Omen? No. It’s so wrong! So I will admit that I can never be objective about horror Bishoujos, as long as they’re gender-switched. Back at NYCC we found out about this line, and the art reveal came a few months later. Now we are seeing the painted version of Freddy Kruger! Stripper Freddy. But hey, there’s clear PVC! I actually think this is a great way to reach out to the Western market but… you know… I just don’t get the horror vibe. More dead people parts plz. [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Well, this is an odd situation, indeed. This art wasn’t supposed to be revealed until New York Toy Fair a week from now, but I guess due to unforeseen circumstances we’re getting it a bit early. A few days ago at a Toy Fair in Europe, someone took a picture and leaked this artwork, but, as it was a leak we refrained from posting it. Now, though, as Wonder Festival was occurring, Shunya Yamashita snuck this artwork up to his twitter, presumably as an early release due to the leaks, which Kotobukiya was most certainly aware of. Anyway, onto the artwork itself. Back at New York Comic Con we had the reveal that Freddy and Jason would be making their transition to the bishoujo line and on Halloween a few days later we had the outlines of the artwork. Now that we get to see the whole thing, I’m in love with both. I love Jason’s attitude, axe, and face peeking out from behind the trademark hockey mask, and Freddy’s shirt somehow became sexy, the hat is awesome, and her hand is even more amazing. I know that unlike practically everyone else I’m most certainly sold on these because they mix the source material and the bishoujo lines perfectly, but what do you think about this odd collaboration? Let us know in the comments! [via Shunya Yamashita’s Twitter]

  • If the title of this post made you scratch your head and say “WHAT NOW?” you’re probably not alone. Kotobukiya’s Movie Bishoujo line has certainly taken us to some interesting territory, like Ghostbusters and Men In Black, but I’m sure most people never thought we’d be making the descent into horror films. But, well… here we are! At the very tail end of their panel an image popped up quickly, with the promise of more info on October 31st, but it’s clear that this is going to be a very big deal. I mean… sexy Freddy & Jason. You know you want to see what Shunya is going to do with that!
