Nightwing Archive

  • Finally, it has happened. We’ve know about Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line for a while, and in fact Nightwing has been finished for quite some time, but I have been counting down the hours until I got to see him in person. And it was glorious. Just look at that butt! They didn’t even neglect the bulge ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I am all about equal opportunity sexy figures. Oh, they had more than Nightwing in their DC section, though! A lot, actually. The star for me was the huge ArtFX Wonder Woman who is just… so beautiful. Dead-on likeness for Gal. They also had a ton of ArtFX+ figures, both the Justice League line and the TV show line. And many Bishoujos, of course! Hit the jump to see them all in action.

  • It has been almost exactly a year since Kotobukiya announced the Ikemen line, which is a male companion to the Bishoujos. Cute boys with cute butts doing cute things, finally! It seems that there has been a lot of work put into this line, because progress has been slow and they’re really trying to make it perfect. Both for us, of course, and for the ever-fickle DC. Now, finally, we are getting a peek at the fully sculpted & painted Nightwing! Look at that booty, it’s a thing of beauty. And his face is so sassy! We also got the full art for the next in the line, Red Hood. He looks so grumpy and adorable. Feeling a little tsundere, Jason? [via Kikakuguys]

  • We got some very exciting DC-related announcements at Kotobukiya’s panel (Bishoujo Katana and the TV show teasers). But given how massive their DC lines are, it’s no surprise that there was a ton more! Like the affordable retro Super Powers figures, their villains ArtFX+ line (including the brand-new Harley Quinn–and a new sculpt for Black Manta), and their ArtFX statues. We also got a little more info about the Ikemen line. It was a pretty big deal when announced, and they discussed how happy fan response has been along with the potential of the line. If the Bat-Boys sell well enough, they will definitely be continuing with other characters!

  • For years fans have been practically begging for a male Bishoujo line. A Bishonen line, if you will. Featuring manly men and their butts. Well… I honestly can’t believe I’m finally saying this, but it’s happening!!! They just announced Ikemen, a line full of cute as hell boys. I mean, look at that Nightwing art. Look at that Nightwing butt. It’s a thing of beauty. The line will also be 1/7 scale, so you can display them with your Bishoujo figures! So far, it seems like we’re gonna get most of the Bat Boys. We can only hope they are all as perfect and sassy as Dick. [via Kotobukiya’s Blog]

  • DC had a LOT on display at Toy Fair, though their booth was actually fairly small and tucked into the back of Diamond. They made very good use of their space, and aside from the figures we already showed you… well, there’s a lot more. So let’s dive in! There’s the BatMan Cave line which features a chess set, dartboard, pool sticks, poker set, and a utility belt, so you can have the coolest Man/Woman Cave on the block (because girls like Batman too, DC.). Seriously, if you get these can I come hang out at your house? We’ve got some stuff for kids: plush and wooden block play set. So cute! Now you can push your child into comic addiction from birth. Of course there were tons of action figures: New 52 Action Figures Series 2, Greg Capullo Action Figures series 1 and 2, and Justice League War Action Figures. Action figures from Arrow made an appearance, along with Vertigo’s Death porcelain doll who I find a little… unsettling. Last but not least is the adorable Scribblenauts Unmasked blind boxed line, which I absolutely NEED in my life.

  • Batman: Son of Batman will be headed on to DVD and Bluray soon, so, what does that mean? Merchandise time! Batman, Robin, and Nightwing will all be making their way to store shelves as action figures in November this year for $19.95 each and all three are looking really awesome. Robin is probably my favorite of the three just because we have so few figures of lil’ evil Damien, the world’s deadliest pre-pubescent, but Nightwing and Batman are looking great as well with their stripped down anime style transition. I’m usually not one for action figures, but I may need that Robin in my life…

  • So we meet again, DC Variants Play Arts Kai. They’re basically bizarre, carnival funhouse versions of the characters we all know and love. We’ve seen some of them before, and I will never get the image of Yaoi Hands Green Lantern out of my head. Or Wonder Woman’s ridiculous butt. This time around we’ve got the Joker (who honestly doesn’t look that different–it’s the Joker, he always looks weird), Harley Quinn (the robot? what is going on there), Darkseid, Hawkman (who might as well be He-man, what even), the weird Batman we’ve already seen, and then more regular versions of Nightwing and Deathstroke. Then there’s Rorschach from Watchmen, who I am pretty excited to see in figure form! Mostly because then I can re-enact the movie but have everyone pronounce his name correctly. Dear Zack Snyder: there’s a reason they call him Raw Shark in prison. [Edit: Robin, not Nightwing! Thanks, Methos~]

  • It feels like we have seen the main lineup of the Justice League ArtFX+ a whole lot over the past year or so, right? But thankfully those were not the only New 52 characters Kotobukiya had out, so there are some new (convention-wise) faces being added to the mix! Supergirl (who we will be reviewing very soon), Batgirl, Nightwing, Shazam, Black Adam, and Catwoman all showed up. Check them out in the gallery below!

  • Who doesn’t like Nightwing? Come on, he’s awesome. Because he’s an acrobat… who fights crime. If you don’t like him you can just get out of here! So I was excited when Kotobukiya announced an ArtFX+ of him because 1) he doesn’t have enough figures and 2) it’s a super affordable line (I don’t have enough cash for 1/6 statues!). We got to take a look at him at NYCC and uhnf, I’m in love. I rarely fangirl out for male figures but oh my god Nightwing I LOVE YOU. Though I do wish it was his blue outfit. But come on now, the chances for a recolor are probably really high…. right?

  • There were a ton of new announcements in regards to DC Comics figures at the Kotobukiya panel: they announced a 1/6th scale Wonder Woman ArtFX, a Superman For Tomorrow 1/6th ArtFX coming in January 2014 for $119.99, a New 52 Batgirl 1/10th scale ArtFX+, and a Green Arrow 1/10th scale ArtFX+. Phew! Also shown off was the recently released Man of Steel ArtFX along with the ArtFX+ figures of Catwoman, Nightwing, Shazam, Black Adam, and Supergirl. It was also heavily hinted at that more members of the bat family will be seeing their way into the ArtFX+ line soon — maybe Batwoman or Damien? Last, but not least, they also premiered the sculpt of Batgirl, so be sure to go check that out in the gallery.
