@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Ah, the Seven Deadly Sins line: a massive collaboration between Nitro+, Amakuni and Orchid Seed that has proven to be my downfall… at least when it comes to money. I mean, most of these are exclusives and they suck your money out like little vampires. We’ve got quite a few updates from today’s events, the most important of which are TWO new paintjobs: Amakuni’s Belphegor and Beelzebub are both complete!
I am IN LOVE with Beelzebub. The wings, the pink twintails, she’s amazing. Belphegor is cute too but Bub over here is kind of stealing the show. We’ve got the alternate “sexy” version of Asmodeus here too in her bunny outfit, which I am… not digging (I wonder if the other girls will get less clothed versions too like her and Lucifer?), and also a second look at the Satan sculpt (which can you please release as a regular figure Orchid Seed thanks).

From the beginning of the Seven Deadly Sins line, I haven’t been the biggest fan of Mammon. In fact, I’d probably list her as one of my least favorites (with Leviathan, who I’m glad was handed off to Amakuni). I found her art okay, but the sculpt was just… well, let me way that the huge bust was not what I usually looked for in a figure, even with how naturally they tried to make them fall.
But now we’re seeing her painted, and my opinion is a bit different. There’s less attention on her boobs with all the wings and hair drills and the little skull batman on her butt. Also there’s, you know… her butt, which is an object of attention unto itself. And with the heart panties, it certainly draws more focus than (what looks like, at least) her clothed bust. She’ll retail for a high ¥11,000, which is to be expected since she’s being produced by Orchid Seed, and will come out in September (!!). You can pre-order her now at Big In Japan!

A year and a half ago, Orchid Seed showed off the sculpt for a figure of Panty Anarchy from Panty & Stocking. Since they’re so slow it’s not really a surprise that she’s showing up painted now: what is a surprise is the sudden appearance of another sculpt in the line! That’s right, they are doing both girls, so prepare yourself for an Orchid Seed Stocking.
I have to say, I love Orchid but I’m kind of on the fence about both of these. I loved Panty up until she was painted: I feel like the face is just a little off (though hopefully that will be fixed before orders, Orchid usually has such lovely faces!). Stocking’s pose isn’t wining me over now, except for dat hair. It’s majestic.

This time we have a good reason, I swear! Akibahobby has a huge gallery of Soniko’s peppy figure, but they also show us a lot of her display options. Orchid Seed is kind of known for their castoff (which Soniko definitely comes with–there are clear, but well-hidden, seamlines on her top & skirt), but she also comes with some SFW options as well!
If you feel like there’s a little too much cheering going on, you can remove her pom poms (but only if you sing her that Jonas Brothers song first), and her loose socks can also be removed to reveal the sneakers underneath. Shocking right? She’s always in heels, I’m kind of surprised she’s not cheering in stiletto pumps.

I feel like this figure has been in the planning stages for an eternity. She was announced at Summer WonFest 2011, which is-yes-well over 2 years ago! We got to see her sculpted a year and a half later, then painted at this past WonFest. So it’s been a long journey for miss Soniko, but it seems like the longer Orchid takes the better a figure comes out. And if you’re a fan of the pink-haired idol, this figure is pretty much perfect.
It’s got the first real dynamic pose we’ve seen for Soniko (not counting the new Beach Queen), along with the usual sculpting and paint quality you’d expect from OS. Seriously, the butt shot almost looks like a real person. And she’s also enormous! While listed at 1/6, there’s a picture in the gallery of her next to the 1/7 nurse and bondage versions and she is just so, so much bigger than them. And thankfully, order open (kind of) soon: the 20th of November! Between this and the 1/5 version complete, they’ve run out of announced Sonikos… I wonder when we’ll see a new one pop up? I highly doubt this is their last!

Orchid Seed, the slowest of all companies, usually takes about 3 years between an announcement date and orders actually opening… then add in another year until release for delays. But once they’ve painted a figure it almost always means that orders will start very soon…. which was clearly not the case for Princess Milk, who got her painted reveal in April.
It seems they were making a few changes, because she does look different here than she did at Miyazawa Model Exhibition. Though maybe not in a good way–I find her eyes a little cartoony and the pink gloss on her lips distracting. And her skin almost looks over-shaded, to the point where the detail fades and she just looks flat and dull. Plus, why yellow hair ribbons?! But other details, like her hair sculpt and the sheer stockings, are just perfect. You can make the decision for yourself tonight when she goes up for order!

In a shocking turn of events, the fully sculpted Seven Deadly Sins line has been unveiled at CharaHobby! Did anyone even know Orchid Seed & Amakuni were turning up here? I sure didn’t, but… here they are! There’s a ton of new stuff: mainly that Beelzebub and Belphegor, the last two from Amakuni, are sculpted and man Beelzebub is SO CUTE ahh!
Swimsuit Lucifer is also here (though we’ve seen the sculpt before) and she actually looks a lot cuter than I thought. Last but not least, there’s the Leviathan repaint! Which, to be honest, is bringing the whole thing down. She’s just… ugh, candy colored? What? Ew.
[UPDATE] Added closer pictures from moeyo!

I know I said that Orchid’s 1/5 swimsuit Soniko was my favorite version of her and could never be topped (and before that I probably said it about the Native version) but I was wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong! JUST LOOK AT THAT FACE. It’s perfect! Objectively (which is hard to do because I love her so much) it’s just…amazing. The subtle blush, the perfect teeth, so cute.
And the pose! The movement! The warm skintone! I’m so smitten. I loved her at Wonder Festival but these pictures have sent me over the edge. It helps that they are the best event photography I’ve ever seen. Orchid please make a million colorways forever and ever so I can collect nothing but Soniko until I die.

Orchid Seed always likes to show off their goodies before Wonder Festival really gets started so we can slowly ease up to the truly stressful parts–though now with GSC flooding an entire page with shit before the event kicks off it doesn’t really matter so much anymore, does it? (can you tell I kind of hate the entire GSC umbrella right now because I do, but it’s okay Orchid I still love you).
OS didn’t bring as many new figures as I would have expected, but I am pleased with the lineup! Their lovely cheerleader Soniko is painted, as is the awesome Panty (who was just sculpted a year ago!). We’ve got a closer look at Mammon and Satan, both of which I’m dying to own, and… their Dark Elf is sculpted! She’s not based on the same art as Max Factory’s either which is definitely a good thing.

This is a post about boobs. We all know what happens when I write one of those, so I’m gonna keep it short & sweet this time. I’ll even summarize the comments & my responses! First, the details: both Orchid Seed & AlphaMax will be doing figures of the Sorceress from Dragon’s Crown. AlphaMax’s 1/8 scale version is sculpted, Orchid’s isn’t.
My post would probably go something like oh my god, what the hell, her chest! What is going on WHERE ARE HER NIPPLES.
Comments: Leah, why do you hate boobs so much. You love some busty ladies but hate others, you hypocrite!
Me: Yeah, true, I do love me some Tama-nee or Soniko (though not her recent figures…), but I hate ridiculously unnatural boobs like this because I feel like unrealistic portrayals can make women feel insecure about their own bodies, and also make people attracted to women have unrealistic expectations. By elevating such proportions, either consciously or unconsciously (some) people (both male & female) are made to feel subpar.
Comments: But it’s FANTASY I can buy what I want!
Me: Hell yeah buy what you want but my god I still hate this figure she sucks I don’t want to live on this planet anymore
Comments: Wow that’s a little harsh
Me: Haha too bad it’s my website!
Hmm, that ended up being a LOT longer than a regular post. OH WELL.
[UPDATE] It seems like this was just the tip of the iceberg–MegaHouse is making figures of the Amazon and Elf, and Vertex is taking on Tiki. Also, come on guys, this was blatantly a sarcastic post. It even has a ‘tongue in cheek’ tag for god’s sake.
