  • Miyazawa Model is one of those weird, in-between figure events. It’s not Wonder Festival or MegaHobby, but everyone shows up! Of course, there aren’t as many new figures as a “big” event, but man are there a lot of old ones and minor updates. Good Smile Company and all their umbrella companies had a huge display, full of… a lot of stuff we’ve seen before. And lots and lots of…. pictures of art of Nendoroids that aren’t finished yet! Wow, thrilling. But there is some good news! At least for IDOLM@STER fans: Phat!’s Yuriko Nanao is sculpted and looks as wonderful as you’d expect, given the rest of the line. There’s bunny girls from FREEing, a Sonico from Wing, tons of KanColle, the requisite terrifying Pochaco, and lots more. Check it all out in the gallery! [via Akibahobby]

  • It kind of seems like Sword Art Online week at Plastikitty! So much news from the show, but unsurprising given that season 2 is happening and that season 1 had an obscene amount of merchandise. One of the SAO figures I was really looking forward to was the vingette piece from Penguin Parade featuring Yui & Asuna snuggling: when we saw it at WonFest, I kind of fell in love. The flames of my passion have subsided upon seeing the painted prototype. Sure, it’s nice, and there are no major errors (aside from Asuna’s giraffe neck), but it’s missing the spark that decent shading gives a figure. Also, while we don’t have the Japanese pricing yet we know this piece will be insanely expensive: Navito World is pricing it at $267. Then again, all their prices seem a little steep. I suspect this will be in the ¥15,000 range.

  • Kantai Collection is absolutely dominating the figure world, so it will come as no surprise that it also dominated Chara Hobby. It’s one of the smaller seasonal events, and it seems like roughly two thirds of the figures brought there are from KanColle. And I’m only exaggerating a tiny bit. We’ve got Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Amakuni, Bandai, Penguin Parade, FREEing, ques Q, Griffon, Azone and Phat! Company bringing us pretty much every type of figure you can imagine. Nendoroids, figmas, dolls, scaled figures, prize figures, lolis, hilariously busty ladies. If you want it, it’s probably here. Check them all out in the gallery below! [via moeyo, Radio Kaikan]

  • So it turns out that paltry offering that was July’s magazine scans weren’t really all the scans. Obviously. We have, like, 5 more things for you! Wow. Exciting. The most thrilling (for me) is the sculpt for Amakuni’s Asuka. Though, you know, the whole exclusive thing has me not so excited. Then we’ve got a lot of Hyakka stuff: Senhime, who we already saw, and Alter’s Inshun Houzouin is painted. She looks better than what I expected, but I still don’t think she lives up to the rest of the line. Then there’s their second Gotou, which confuses me cause the first one was just fine. Lastly, we’ve got Penguin Parade’s two Walkure Romanze girls: Celia Cumani Aintree and Akane Ryuuzouji. [via White Noize & Suzuki Aquila]

  •   So you thought you’d seen it all with the scaled figures, Nendo and figmas at Miyazawa Model Exhibition? Oh no, there was more of course. You know, the stuff people don’t care enough to tweet about during the event and we only see in event coverage later. Which is why I’d like to actually be able to go to Japan and do this shit myself. Sigh. ANYWAY, Good Smile had their Mikasa out on display, Max Factory’s Kongo was there as well (with a changed release date: September), 2 KanColle Nendo protos made an appearance (Kaga and Kitakami), Gift’s Houki Shinonono, FREEing’s various giant bunny girls (that Cecilia, squee!), and a brand-new Celia from Penguin Parade. Check ’em all out in the gallery! [via Kahotan & moeyo]

  • Spring is in the air. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and figure events are happening! Good Smile always seems to dominate Miyazawa Model Exibition, which is a relatively small event, and they brought a ton of goodies this year. We’ve got a closer look at Phat! Company’s recently announced Ranko, their Sachiko Koshimizu is painted, and we also have the sculpt for Kosaki Onodera. From Penguin Parade we have the sculpts for Mutsu and Nagato from Kantai Collection that we saw at Wonder Festival, along with Max Factory’s cute-but-almost-creepy I-58. And last but not least, Good Smile Company themselves! They brought Saber Extra (no differences, though there is a look at the fabled butt window), and their Gray Fullbuster from Fairy Tail is fully painted & sculpted. Added Good Smile Company’s Mio Honda! [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • Penguin Parade is a company I have a deep-seeded hatred for. They made Naoe, one of my least favorite figures of all time, who was a bundle of disappointment and heartbreak. However, that was a few years ago and they were just starting out, so maybe it’s time to forgive, forget, and…. buy more figures! Starting, of course, with this cute pair. Because, really, how can I NOT buy this duo of Asuna and Yui from Sword Art Online? I’m sure it will be catastrophically expensive since it is 2 figures in one (and GSC, unlike Alter, is not forgiving in this respect), but gahh. Teeth-rotting sweetness, oh my. • Welcome to January’s scans, aka the shortest scans in the history of the world. How many figures do we have for you this month? Well, I’ll keep it a surprise, but let’s just say the number is under ten. I’m not joking. Blame Japan, I had nothing to do with this, I swear! But of course there are still some good figures here, and they don’t even have to hide–I mean, there’s not exactly a dearth of ladies for them to get lost in. So hit the jump and let’s get started!

  • What is up with Kantai Collection? Are the makers literally paying companies to make figures of the characters, or is it really *that* popular? Both seem unlikely, but here we are, with even more girls from the series. In case you didn’t get enough announcements last Summer Wonder Festival. And you just know there will be a ton at Winter WonFest… Let’s dive in! In the header we have two figures from Penguin Parade, Nagato and Mutsu. Aoshima will be taking on some more girls as well: we’ve got a blurry shot of I-19 and the announcement of Mutsu as well. Then there’s the (blurry) sculpt of Kirishima from ques Q,  even though they announced a buttload of Kantai girls we haven’t seen yet. Last but not least, Takara Tomy will be making some trading figures and we have the sculpt for their Kaga! [via Figure/GK]
