As collectors, our focus for Wonder Festival is obviously on the things that you can, you know, actually buy. But at the event, purchasable PVC figures are outnumbered pretty substantially by garage kits. We of course brought you our usual before-event roundup, but it’s time to take a look at all the goodies that were out and about that day!
The quality ranges from amazing to god-awful, so we tried to bring you the cream of the crop. Though I will admit, quite a few in this gallery are just here because of how odd they are. Shirtless Gilgamesh? Girl getting (happily) eaten by a shark? Cat on a motorcycle? Check ’em out and tons more below the jump!

Aquamarine is not a company that usually brings the wow factor to events. I expect a small booth from them with a handful of sculpts, and way too many announcements. But they really brought it this year! Tons of new stuff and some truly awesome looking figures, like the header girl Jack-O’ Valentine from Guilty Gear. How cool is she?!
Sadly, none of the 5 million Sabers they announced were there, and Justine & Caroline from P5 are still unpainted. But there’s PriPara, a gorgeous Rin Shibuya from Cinderella Girls, plenty of Girls und Panzer, Galko-chan, Angel Beats, Hiro Hayima from King of Prism (a boy from Aquamarine?!), and the impressively muscular Jam Kuradoberi. Plus we’ve got announcements! From Shining World, Won Pairon and Altina Mel Sylphis, and also a very casual-looking Asuna.

Amakuni is at it again, stealing all the money from my wallet. Damn them and their exclusive, beautiful merchandise! They really brought it this year. We have Anne from Persona 5 painted, and Makoto’s bike is there. From KanColle we have Libeccio, Ooyodo, Kashima, and Mutsu.
There’s the amazing Mega Man statue, Ryoubi from Senran Kagura, a lot of Fate/Grand Order (Rider of Black is painted, and we have 2 announced Casters), and 2 boys from King of Prism. Plus that amazing Michael? She’s here too, along with an announcement for Lisa from Majo to Hyakkihei 2. Oh, and surprise, the Tony Taka Racing Miku? They’re making her!

Kotobukiya always brings out the goods for Wonder Festival, and this year is no exception! We have a great lineup of figures here, starting with of course the painted Protagonist from Persona 5. Yes, my beauty, come home to me. In other game news, we have their new Pokemon girls! Or, well, one of them sculpted, and the outline of the other.
The Caster/Lancer from their teasers is here, and looking adorable. We’ve also got a few old announcements finally painted: Vira from Granblue Fantasy (give to me now yes), RyuuZU from Clockwork Planet, and Charlotte from Shironeko Project. There’s a new Girls und Panzer bikini line: Anchovy is painted, and Alice Shimada will be joining her soon. In other new announcements, they will be doing Victor from Yuri on Ice!! Check ’em all out below.

It’s almost Persona 5 time in the US! I mean, it was supposed to be Persona 5 time several days ago… probably good that it got delayed, because lemme tell you, I would NOT be here posting if it was out. I’d be playing. No regrets.
Anyway, we have quite a few figures from GSC & Co! The Protagonist figma, a figma announcement for Anne, a surprise Morgana Nendoroid (kawaii af), and the Phat! Company Futaba Sakura.
Now you may be asking, why is this NSFW Leah? Well lemme tell you. There is a GODDAMN MARA FIGMA. This is not a drill. This is real life. DREAMS COME TRUE.
[UPDATE] Added Pixie figma. Are they going to do a whole monster line?

It’s that time again! Time to look at a few of the garage kits that will be on display and for sale at Wonder Festival. Of course for most of us this is just to drool over, but as always if you are attending the event each picture is labeled with the circle & character name! Also, I am insanely jealous of you.
The trends this year are basically what you would expect. Tons of Re:Zero (and by that I mean tons of Rem & Ram, who cares about the other characters!), idol shows out in force, and quite a bit of Granblue Fantasy. Some old trends seem to be dying (there’s very little of Miku & Sonico compared to previous years). And, surprisingly, Cartoon Network is represented quite a bit. Check them all out in the gallery below, and let us know what you’d like to see as PVC!

Wonder Festival is less than a week away, and you know what that means–teaser time! I feel like every year these pop up sooner and sooner. It used to start on Wednesday and Thursday, now we get them at the beginning of the week! Well, the better to spread ’em out, I guess.
First up is Kotobukiya with 4 teasers. Two are of figures we already knew about: the protagonist from Persona 5 and RyuuuZU from Clockwork Planet. Then we have two new ones! There’s an ArtFX+ of Arrow (from the show, not the comics) and a new Lancer from Fate/Grand Order. Which is basically Caster Extra in a swimsuit? I’ll be honest, I have not the faintest clue what is going on with Fate anymore.
[UPDATE] We have some teaser artwork for the Ms Marvel Bishoujo! This will be on display at Toy Fair (which we will be covering in person!), but might also make a WF appearance.
[UPDATE 2] We also have Bishoujo Katana’s teaser! Thanks Marissa~

While Persona 5 isn’t even out in the US yet (grumble grumble), it’s certainly reaching peak hype in Japan. And thus, it’s time for figures! We recently found out about Amakuni’s Anne, who was at the most recent Persona-themed event, along with Aquamarine’s Caroline and Justine who are newly sculpted.
Then we have some new figures! Phat! Company surprised us all by showing off two sculpts: the main character and Futaba Sakura! Which means we have figures of most of the girls, something that’s (still) not even true for 3 or 4.

Amakuni is moving on up in the world. They used to be a company totally under my radar: they released only a handful of figures a month, tended to focus on fanservice, and only made exclusives. Well, the last two are still true, but they are ramping up their production (and quality!) like woah based on their MegaHobby display.
The star of the show is definitely Anne Takamaki from Persona 5, along with an announcement for Makoto Niijima. I hope this is the first of many announcements for the game! We also have shockingly original duo-figure of Megaman X and Zero, a ton of Kantai Collection (Kashima, Ooyoda, Haruna, Libeccio, and Mutsu), the addition of Yuzuruha to their Muramasa line (along with alternate “wet” versions of Momohime and Kongiku), their cute Sonico which is ruined by the boobs, Orange Heart from the Neptunia franchise, and so much more.
Like Ryoubi from Senran Kagura, a bunny version of Sword & Wizards‘ Fuyuka Yukishiro, the painted Deena Challenger, Cleric from Bikini Warriors, and announcement for Alice Shimada from Girls und Panzer, and the way too perfect Cyan from Show By Rock. I want so many of these figures…

Just in time for the (Japanese) release of Persona 5, X-Plus is finally releasing their giant Jack Frost! I’ve been totally nuts for that thing since we first saw it, and while it’s been less than a year I seriously feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life. I mean, haven’t we all been waiting for an almost 16 inch tall Jack Frost? Yeah, that’s how big this bad boy is.
And, surprisingly, his price isn’t too insane given the size. ¥14,800, which is less than a lot of fancy 1/8 scale stuff is this day (sadly). A price I am more than willing to pay, even when I’m down to only 2 or so figures a month. Heck, if I had to pick one release for October it would be this cutie.
