Persona 4 Archive

Aquamarine, a company that I usually overlook, has really been going out of their way to impress recently and their lineup at this Wonder Festival was no exception. First off, my beautiful DAN waifu Rise is painted (I LOVE HER) and we also have a Persona 5 announcement. Their Guilty Gear Elphelt Valentine is painted, and they’ve also announced Jack-O’ Valentine and Jam Kuradoberi. They’ve also got a cat-girl Illya that’s slightly less creepy than Broccoli’s, Strike Witches, and lots more sculpts.
Really, they were all about the announcements this year. We’ve got 4 Girls und Panzer figures, Lala Manaka, Hikari Kohinata from Amanchu!, Saber Extra, Saber Lily, Galko-chan, Tenshi from Angel Beats, Mai Kawakami from Musaigen no Phantom World, and two Kiniro Mosaic figures. For once, I am really looking forward to some Aquamarine figures!

You know what I was definitely not expecting to see this Wonder Festival? I mean, at this point the answer is “like 90% of the new announcements.” But in particular, I was not at all expecting a figure of Persona 4’s Rise… in a random Dancing All Night outfit. I mean, Rise is my bae so I’m not going to complain, especially because her sculpt is absolutely gorgeous. It’s just odd. A harem Rise to add to my Rise harem?

One of my favorite things about Wonder Festival is the garage kits. I mean, on one hand I can’t actually own any of them and that’s kind of sad. But on the other hand, I can’t own any of them so yay not spending money!
This year we have a really great mix to share with you. There’s everything from creative to sexy to cute–a lot of cute! Cute Dark Souls, cute Sonico, cute Kill la Kill, cute Polar Bear Cafe. We also have some US shows creeping in (yes, that is Finn & Jake!), a LOT of Kantai Collection (especially the bad girls–and the good girls in swimsuits?), Miku of course, a surprising amount of Persona merch including an amazingly perfect cat Aegis, and so much more. Check it all out in the gallery: and like always, all kits are named with both the circle & character name to help you find it if you’re going to the show!

Sega seems to turn up at every single event with prize figures. There’s just an endless stream of them. But hey, I love prize figures, so I’m not going to complain!
This year was, well, much like other years. A lot of the usual: Evangelion, KanColle (including the Lucky Star x Kantai Collection crossover figures), lots and lots of Mikus. We also have new Persona figures, including a Yukiko to match the P3 uniform version Chie!

Phat! Company is one of those companies that used to be pretty mediocre, but has recently risen to success. Mostly with those amazing IM@S figures. Of which, sadly, there were no new ones at WonFest: but we just got a bunch of updates on that front, so that’s okay.
Let’s get into the figures! Their P4 Dancing All Night Rise is painted, and we have another MegaTen announcement: Fumi from Devil Survivor 2! And Labrys is painted, oh my! In non-SMT news, the yukata Lily is painted as well. We’ve also got two of the Granblue Fantasy figures, Io and Yueru, and they both look amazing. Rin Suzunoki has been painted and looks amazing, and their God Eater boy was out on display along with a lot of IM@S Medicchus. They also announced a figure of Taihou from KanColle, and showed off their Angela. Check them all out below!

It’s that time of year again–time for another Prize Fair! These seasonal events show us all the upcoming goodies from the world of prize figures, and this time it was absolutely packed with amazing sculpts. I mean, everyone is pulling out the stops it seems!
So what was there? More like what wasn’t there. We have Puzzle & Dragons, Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Fate/Stay Night, IDOLM@STER, Bakemonogatari, Persona 4, Sonico & Pochaco, Attack On Titan, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailor Moon…. to name but a few. Check them all out in the gallery!

Did you know that so far, counting all the recolors we’ve gotten, there have been ten Persona figmas so far–but only one boy? Which is odd, because the cast is always split about 50/50 between the male and female characters. But god forbid we get tons of figures of them! Grumble grumble. Well, we are at least getting a figma of the Persona 4 protagonist (why not P3? Whyyy), and I’m sure we’ll see some more once P5 comes out. But today we’re looking at Yu Narukami, the prematurely gray highschooler who saves the world!
He popped up in the NicoNico broadcast, so I was pretty sure orders would open soon. And indeed, they have! He comes with everything we originally saw–glasses, sword, and a card. Honestly, it’s not as much as I’d like, but I’ll take it. Oh, and if you order from Good Smile you get… a second jacket! Wow, thrilling. I’m always happy when their exclusive bonuses are things I’d never want. He retails for ¥6,000 with a September release date.

Once again, it’s time to look at blurry video screencaps of Good Smile Company & Co’s newest figures! How exciting, right? Actually, I’m usually kind of bored by the lineup in these broadcasts but this month was definitely a highlight for me… and because of the figmas! Crazy right? I order like 3 figmas a year, so the fact that I want 2 of the 3 ones shown off surprised even me. They gave us a peek at the Rin Tohsaka 2.0 figma and the MC of Persona 4. And yeah, of course I want both of them! They look fantastic–especially Rin’s extra faces. Then there’s… figma Bruce Lee. So strange.
There were no scaled figures this time, but a whole lot of Nendoroids. Patchouli‘s sculpt was shown off briefly, and we got extended looks at the massive Yamato and Angela Balzac, whose popularity is really peaking at the moment. Check them all out in the gallery!

One of my very first PVC purchases years and years ago was Wave’s hard-to-get Teddie, who even back then was a challenge to find (especially the rare variants!). But since then Persona 4‘s popularity in the figure world has skyrocketed to proportions I never would have guessed. So of course we got lots more Teddie figures! This one is really riding on the tail end of P4‘s success (or on hype for Persona 5, perhaps?) but of course I’m going to get it. IT’S TEDDIE.
I was kind of bummed by the initial plain art, but he looked great at Anime Japan and of course he looks great in the promotional shots! It’s definitely on the simpler end of things, but the price (¥5,800) reflects that. He’s actually pretty large, 7 inches tall, so it’s a bargain! Of course Aniplex figures are always exclusives, but they do ship overseas so he won’t break the bank… too much.

Oh look, another event in Japan! This one isn’t actually centered around figures like MegaHobby or WonFest–it’s about anime! And that’s where 80% of figures come from, so of course a few showed up. We’ll start off with Aniplex who brought quite a few new things. The first in importance (to me) is the sculpted Teddie–he looks so great! And huge. Then we’ve got painted versions of the maiko Sayaka & Kyoko, who took a while but they definitely look like they were worth it.
Then there’s the surprise announcement: Shiki Ryougi! Her pose looks really great and dynamic, but of course Aniplex = expensive. They also had a few up-for-order figures out and about, so check them all out in the gallery.
