Persona 4 Archive

Mitsuru Kirijou from Persona 3 is one of my favorite character in the history of everything, and in my mind she doesn’t have nearly enough figures. Actually it definitely isn’t just me, because Mitsuru only has two figures: one from Kotobukiya and one from Alter, and they were both produced a very long time ago. I have the Kotobukiya one, in fact it was my very first PVC figure! And I think the Alter one sucks, so I really desperately need more Mitsuru in my life. Enter Vertex, my lord and savior, bringing us Mitsuru in her Persona 4 Arena outfit.
This was announced what seems like forever ago, and we last saw her only a little while back but now we’re getting a full gallery of her perfection. Just look at that coat, that hair, her face! It’s everything I dreamed it would be and more. So now just get to painting her Vertex, and if you could get on to making a Yukari figure and maybe a Junpei that would be great.

When Penguin Parade first announced their Pettanko line, I was overall pretty happy with it. I mean, who doesn’t need more cute in their life? But as time went on a few problems surfaced. The sculpts in general didn’t match up to the cuteness of the art, they tended to take on characters I didn’t care about, and a lot of the time they ended up as exclusives or fancy prize figures. Thankfully the line is getting back to what I always hoped it would be: adorable versions of characters I actually liked!
In a surprise move they’re doing Yu Narukami and Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4, a property I really didn’t expect. Both of them, of course, come with optional glasses and will retail for ¥2,500 a pop with a September release. They’re standard releases, thank god, and should be going up for order very soon!

Another month, another batch of magazine scans! Is it just me, or have scans kind of tapered off in intensity? I feel like several companies have kind of “dropped out” of the Hobby Japan scans, namely Good Smile Company & co. We really don’t get many big reveals from them anymore! In fact, the scans pretty much seem to be “check out what cool things MegaHouse has, with some stuff from Alter and Kotobukiya on the side. Oh, and maybe Orchid Seed will pop up too!”
Decline of the scans or not, we do have a pretty action-packed month for you! Well, if you’re a MegaTen fan at least. Because there are three new MegaTen girls! And only one of them is from Persona, believe it or not! So hit the jump and let’s get started.

Remember that set of Persona 4 metal charms featuring Yu, Chie, Kanji and Naoto along with their Personas? Well there are more than 4 characters in the game so it’s no surprise that we are getting a second set! This time it features Yosuke, Yukiko, Rise and Teddie along with their first-tier Personas. Shocking, I know!
Like the first set, it’s ¥4,300 for a set of 12 on AmiAmi with a June release–which, yes, means you’ll get a few dupes. There are two secret figures but even taking them into account you’re left over with 2 extras! I still think it’s weird how they split these up–usually you get the first ‘half’ of the cas (Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko) together and the second ‘half’ (Kanji, Rise, Teddie, Naoto) in a separate bundle. I tend to prefer the second bunch, so perhaps their goal is to make me spend more money….

Mitsuru is hands down my favorite character from any Persona game, with Rise as a close second. But while Rise has gotten a ton of merchandise recently, Mitsuru hasn’t had a figure release in years. So of course I was thrilled when Vertex announced a version of her in her Persona 4 Arena getup, and I adored the sculpt.
However, not everyone was happy. Some thought that she was too busty, though Mitsuru is arguably the bustiest of the Persona girls (though fanon will clam Naoto takes this spot). In any case they’ve toned her down to a more realistic level and also made some changes to her hair and facial expression. She looks amazing! Give her some paint, Vertex, before I die waiting for this beauty!

Usually we don’t do extensive galleries of prize figures, let alone released ones, but Taito’s Persona 4 Arena line is something special. When they announced their first two releases, Izanagi and Aegis, people weren’t so sure what their quality would be like. But we’ve already seen Izanagi, and he looked awesome! So how about Atlus’ most famous robot?
Well, she looks awesome too! Of course the details aren’t perfect: there are seamlines in the hair like woah and some of the paint is a bit fuzzy, but considering that she costs about $15 it’s pretty darn impressive. Plus her pose is actually much more exciting than the pricey renditions of her. I have high hopes for the rest of the line: Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Kanji and Naoto and then Rise, Teddie and Elizabeth. I wonder if we’ll get any more… perhaps a final set of Akihiko, Mitsuru and Labrys?

Magazine scans always take me by surprise. Well, most of the time anyway. It’s funny, because I know they are the same night every month yet somehow I forget! So I’m just sitting around, minding my own business and indulging in sappy tv shows when BAM suddenly scans!
This month we’ve got a whole lot from MegaHouse, including a brand new boy! To be honest it’s not the most action-packed month but of course there are lots of goodies to be had. Check them all out after the jump!

AmiAmi has this nasty habit of combining our orders into big glumps that overlap between months. So, for example, we might not get some of our January stuff until the beginning of March (yet mysteriously it will be with not just February but March items as well). You may have noticed that we skipped a January loot post: well, that’s because we didn’t even get all our figures from it until a few days ago!
But thankfully January and February seemed to be smaller months than most, so we’re just going to combine them into a mega loot post! Check it all out after the jump.

The Persona 4 merchandise train has slowed down a bit: in fact, it seems like companies are jumping back on to Persona 3! But that doesn’t mean we get nothing from the Inaba crew. There may not be many more big figures in the works but there’s plenty of cute merch to go around!
Today we’ve got a set of metal charms from slaps (yes, that is a real company name, lowercase and all) featuring Yu, Chie, Kanji and Naoto (the two most neglected characters!) along with their Personas. There are also 2 secrets, presumably another member and their Persona. It could be anyone: Yukiko, Rise, Yosuke, maybe even Teddie. Yeah, it’s probably Teddie. You can snag a box of 12 at AmiAmi for ¥4,300. Ouch!

When it was announced that Max Factory would be giving us yet another figma of Aegis from Persona 3, people seemed… less than thrilled. We have a ton of Aegis already, and there have been two figma versions of her in the past! This one, however, was based on her Persona 4 Arena getup and the overall sculpt looked greatly improved.
Now that she’s out the figure collectors of Japan are hard at work bringing us lovely photos of this cutie. As you can see from the comparisons here she is a lot better looking than the past two! We’ve got fabulous action shots, a whole lot of figma cosplay and a whole lot more–check them all out in the gallery! Now we just have to wait patiently for figma Labrys… I wonder if there will be any more Persona figmas down the line?
