@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Persona 4 Archive

Okay, so it’s no big surprise Alter brought their Labrys figure to MegaHobby. I mean, she was one of the stars of their show at WonFest! It is a little surprising that she isn’t painted but hey, it’s Alter, and sometimes they take forever. It’s (almost) always worth it in the end though! But we’re not totally without updates: Labrys will come with an alternate face featuring her visor, which is pretty awesome.

Taito’s Persona 4 Arena line has been going really well so far: Izanagi, Aegis, Yukiko & Chie looked great, and though Kanji wasn’t the best the Naoto he came with was totally awesome. So I had high hopes for the Rise & Teddie duo, since they are by far my favorite characters from Persona 4. To be honest, I could take or leave pretty much anyone else: I’m all about P3.
Let’s start with the postitive: Teddie looks amazing! Then again he’s pretty much a giant orb with hands, so that’s not too hard to pull off. But still, aww! Teddie! Sadly, Rise got the short end of the stick. Her face isn’t as bad as Kanji’s but it’s really not good. At all. And the hair! Good lord! Hopefully Elizabeth looks better, and I’d like to see them move on to the P3 characters that pop up in Arena: Mitsuru, Junpei and Akihiko, yes please.

Persona 3 & 4 seem very popular in the figure world nowadays, though we haven’t seen so much as a trading figure of Marie, who serves as both an assistant in the Velvet Room and a new social link. She actually serves a third purpose, but it’s a little spoiler-tastic so we won’t discuss it here!
It seems like we’re finally seeing at least something based on her, though sadly it’s a garage kit from the circle Will. But look how pretty! She’s perfect! Sadly MegaHouse and Alter are really the only companies making figures from the series and neither of them pick up that many garage kits. But we can hold out hope for Alter, right?

Ques Q is one of the smaller companies, but they take on a pretty wide variety of licenses and tend to pick up some fantstic garage kits so I am a big fan of theirs–and their Wonder Festival lineup was pretty amazing! Okay, so they only had a few figures and the focus was mainly on new announcements but THAT ELIZABETH. She was unpainted the last time we saw her but now she’s painted and I love her and please put her up for order right now. Oh, and she won’t be the last Persona figure they do–Labrys is next!
Percival, who was sculpted at last WonFest is painted now, and we’ve got more Eiyuu*Senki goodness Drake is sculpted, and they’ve announced Tutankhamun (whose name is spelled wrong, good job Japan). We’ve also got the Grizzry Panda sculpts, announcements for Mikasa Ackerman (the star of this WonFest), Iona and Takao from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio, and Haruna & Shimakaze from Kantai Collection ~Kan Colle~. That thing is EVERYWHERE. Seriously.

Alter’s recent Aegis is one of the shining gems of my collection, and I love her to bits. I was, however, a little disappointed that they didn’t follow her up with any other characters from Persona 3. Heck, I’d even take characters from 4! Well, seems like they are finally listening and we are getting a new addition to their Persona line. Labrys! Sure, not my favorite, but she does have a lovely design and hey, she’s a robot. Robots are cool, especially when they have hair. Because how does that work? And it seems like they might even be doing more than one version of her.

We tend to focus on PVC coverage during Wonder Festival because, well… those are the things most of us can buy! But really, there are about ten times as many garage kits at the event as pre-painted PVC. Actually… that might be underestimating it, the garage kit area is HUGE!
We’ve already shown you some of the kits that will be at the event like Purple Heart, Yagyuu Toshiyuki’s Marisa Kirisame, an acrobatic Saber Bride, chibi Saber Lily, Toda Satoshi’s terrifying Passionlip, and Coneckers’ Momiji. But of course there are a ton more, and we’ve got some really lovely kits this time around. My personal favorites are Vispo’s astonishing Jeanne d’Arc & her horse–though Jeanne seems very popular this WonFest!–, the bathing suit IDOLM@STER trio, the gory Labrys, and Atelier Hiro’s punk rock Miku Hatsune. And my oh my do we have a lot of Mikus. Chec them all out (and plenty more) in the gallery!

As any Persona fan will tell you, there simply aren’t enough figures from the games. Seriously, we’re quite annoying. And don’t get us hardcore MegaTen fans started, we just don’t shut up about it! But Bandai has been a light in the darkness, giving us D-Arts of some of the Personas along with annoyingly exclusive Figuarts of some of the characters. We even got Raidou from Devil Summoner! They actually announced a whole ton and then… kind of abandoned them, but it seems they are just starting over with a new Persona 4 Arena line!
First up is everyone’s favorite Velvet Room assistant, Elizabeth! Sorry Margaret, Theo and Mary, but you know it’s true. She’s just… the best ever. And now you can have a poseable version of her! WITH A CHAIR! And Bandai is feeling generous, so they’re re-releasing Thanatos (her persona in Arena, originally the MC’s from 3) to go along with her.

When we first found out that MegaHouse would be doing a Persona 4 line, I don’t think I could have been any more excited. It seemed like a perfect match: MegaHouse loves to do long figure lines, taking on even fringe characters, and they produce decent if not dynamic sculpts quickly and for really amazing prices. But overall it’s been a disappointment: while Izanagi and the MC looked great, they overproduced their awesome Konohana Sakuya so much she ended up in the bargain bins for $30. Then we had the weird Yukiko sculpt, and while I liked Rise and Chie they got the exclusive kiss of death. And of course we can’t forget the exclusive Magatsu Izanagi, who it still pains me to think about.
I’m still holding out for some awesome non-exclusive releases though, and it seems like their Labrys might just meet those demands. We still don’t know her release info so we can’t be 100% sure, but it would be weird if they did 3 exclusive releases in a row! They showed her off at MegaHobby Expo and now we’ve got a huge gallery for you to peruse. I think her sculpt is definitely the best of the line so far, let’s just hope she isn’t out of my price range!

So far, Taito’s Persona 4 Arena prize figure line has been on fire. Their Izanagi, Aegis, Yukiko & Chie figures were absolutely amazing given the low price point (roughly ~$15 per figure) and while we didn’t take a closer look at Yosuke and Yu they looked great as well. Naoto and Kanji, who I think it’s safe to say are fan favorites, came out together: but sadly they aren’t quite as perfect as their predecessors.
Naoto is pretty damn on point. She looks fantastic, from the tip of her gun to her shiny shoes. Kanji, however has a small issue: his face looks more like Igor than Kanji, and his hair is just… weird. But for $15, I’m not complaining, especially since the white detailing on his jacket is honestly better than on figures I’ve paid $75+ for. Good job, Taito!
