Taito’s Persona 4 Arena line has been going really well so far: Izanagi, Aegis, Yukiko & Chie looked great, and though Kanji wasn’t the best the Naoto he came with was totally awesome. So I had high hopes for the Rise & Teddie duo, since they are by far my favorite characters from Persona 4. To be honest, I could take or leave pretty much anyone else: I’m all about P3.
Let’s start with the postitive: Teddie looks amazing! Then again he’s pretty much a giant orb with hands, so that’s not too hard to pull off. But still, aww! Teddie! Sadly, Rise got the short end of the stick. Her face isn’t as bad as Kanji’s but it’s really not good. At all. And the hair! Good lord! Hopefully Elizabeth looks better, and I’d like to see them move on to the P3 characters that pop up in Arena: Mitsuru, Junpei and Akihiko, yes please.

Persona 3 & 4 seem very popular in the figure world nowadays, though we haven’t seen so much as a trading figure of Marie, who serves as both an assistant in the Velvet Room and a new social link. She actually serves a third purpose, but it’s a little spoiler-tastic so we won’t discuss it here!
It seems like we’re finally seeing at least something based on her, though sadly it’s a garage kit from the circle Will. But look how pretty! She’s perfect! Sadly MegaHouse and Alter are really the only companies making figures from the series and neither of them pick up that many garage kits. But we can hold out hope for Alter, right?

So far, Taito’s Persona 4 Arena prize figure line has been on fire. Their Izanagi, Aegis, Yukiko & Chie figures were absolutely amazing given the low price point (roughly ~$15 per figure) and while we didn’t take a closer look at Yosuke and Yu they looked great as well. Naoto and Kanji, who I think it’s safe to say are fan favorites, came out together: but sadly they aren’t quite as perfect as their predecessors.
Naoto is pretty damn on point. She looks fantastic, from the tip of her gun to her shiny shoes. Kanji, however has a small issue: his face looks more like Igor than Kanji, and his hair is just… weird. But for $15, I’m not complaining, especially since the white detailing on his jacket is honestly better than on figures I’ve paid $75+ for. Good job, Taito!

Taito’s Persona 4 line has been a huge success so far: we’ve already checked out the finished products of Izanagi and Aegis, and now it’s time for the leading ladies of Inaba! So far the quality has been really great for a prize figure line, but do Yukiko Amagi and Chie Satonaka live up to the hype? I think the gallery speaks for itself, and the answer is a resounding yes!
So far, I think these are the best of the batch: the quality is pretty crisp, and while there are some seam lines (most notably on Yukiko’s hands) you really have to expect a few missteps when paying $15 for a figure. And really, you don’t notice any of these details when they are sitting on a shelf! We are getting closer and closer to the release of my most anticipated figures in the series: Teddie, Rise and Elizabeth. I really hope they come out just as lovely as these two ladies!

When Penguin Parade first announced their Pettanko line, I was overall pretty happy with it. I mean, who doesn’t need more cute in their life? But as time went on a few problems surfaced. The sculpts in general didn’t match up to the cuteness of the art, they tended to take on characters I didn’t care about, and a lot of the time they ended up as exclusives or fancy prize figures. Thankfully the line is getting back to what I always hoped it would be: adorable versions of characters I actually liked!
In a surprise move they’re doing Yu Narukami and Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4, a property I really didn’t expect. Both of them, of course, come with optional glasses and will retail for ¥2,500 a pop with a September release. They’re standard releases, thank god, and should be going up for order very soon!

Remember that set of Persona 4 metal charms featuring Yu, Chie, Kanji and Naoto along with their Personas? Well there are more than 4 characters in the game so it’s no surprise that we are getting a second set! This time it features Yosuke, Yukiko, Rise and Teddie along with their first-tier Personas. Shocking, I know!
Like the first set, it’s ¥4,300 for a set of 12 on AmiAmi with a June release–which, yes, means you’ll get a few dupes. There are two secret figures but even taking them into account you’re left over with 2 extras! I still think it’s weird how they split these up–usually you get the first ‘half’ of the cas (Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko) together and the second ‘half’ (Kanji, Rise, Teddie, Naoto) in a separate bundle. I tend to prefer the second bunch, so perhaps their goal is to make me spend more money….

The Persona 4 merchandise train has slowed down a bit: in fact, it seems like companies are jumping back on to Persona 3! But that doesn’t mean we get nothing from the Inaba crew. There may not be many more big figures in the works but there’s plenty of cute merch to go around!
Today we’ve got a set of metal charms from slaps (yes, that is a real company name, lowercase and all) featuring Yu, Chie, Kanji and Naoto (the two most neglected characters!) along with their Personas. There are also 2 secrets, presumably another member and their Persona. It could be anyone: Yukiko, Rise, Yosuke, maybe even Teddie. Yeah, it’s probably Teddie. You can snag a box of 12 at AmiAmi for ¥4,300. Ouch!

Taito has been a savior to Persona fans recently with their expansive Persona 4 Arena prize figure line, especially after MegaHouse’s “hey all the characters you want will be exclusive!” bullshit. So far they have released almost all of the main characters, it’s really just Mitsuru and Akihiko left (who will almost certainly join it eventually). Oh, and Labrys! But of course the question is, can Taito deliver?
Well Izanagi, the first in the series along with Aegis who will be out in March, just got released so we get to take a peek at the final product! Of course the paint is not perfect, but this is a prize figure after all. For $15 he looks pretty damn amazing! No major messups, and the pose looks fantastic. I can’t wait for mine!

Taito didn’t really show up to Wonder Festival, but apparently they still have a ton of new prize figures ready to be ordered! We’ve got a great batch this time around, with the biggest additions being the continuation of their Persona 4 Arena line which now includes Elizabeth (who is an individual release) and Teddie & Rise (who come together). So glad to be seeing more of Elizabeth!
Then we’ve got a swimsuit version of Soniko featuring a rather suggestive ice pop. Personally, I think there’s never enough figures of her! You can grab these all at Big In Japan, but act quick: Rise’s single-figure pre-orders have already sold out!
