Persona 4 the Animation Archive

When Penguin Parade first announced their Pettanko line, I was overall pretty happy with it. I mean, who doesn’t need more cute in their life? But as time went on a few problems surfaced. The sculpts in general didn’t match up to the cuteness of the art, they tended to take on characters I didn’t care about, and a lot of the time they ended up as exclusives or fancy prize figures. Thankfully the line is getting back to what I always hoped it would be: adorable versions of characters I actually liked!
In a surprise move they’re doing Yu Narukami and Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4, a property I really didn’t expect. Both of them, of course, come with optional glasses and will retail for ¥2,500 a pop with a September release. They’re standard releases, thank god, and should be going up for order very soon!

Remember that set of Persona 4 metal charms featuring Yu, Chie, Kanji and Naoto along with their Personas? Well there are more than 4 characters in the game so it’s no surprise that we are getting a second set! This time it features Yosuke, Yukiko, Rise and Teddie along with their first-tier Personas. Shocking, I know!
Like the first set, it’s ¥4,300 for a set of 12 on AmiAmi with a June release–which, yes, means you’ll get a few dupes. There are two secret figures but even taking them into account you’re left over with 2 extras! I still think it’s weird how they split these up–usually you get the first ‘half’ of the cas (Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko) together and the second ‘half’ (Kanji, Rise, Teddie, Naoto) in a separate bundle. I tend to prefer the second bunch, so perhaps their goal is to make me spend more money….

The Persona 4 merchandise train has slowed down a bit: in fact, it seems like companies are jumping back on to Persona 3! But that doesn’t mean we get nothing from the Inaba crew. There may not be many more big figures in the works but there’s plenty of cute merch to go around!
Today we’ve got a set of metal charms from slaps (yes, that is a real company name, lowercase and all) featuring Yu, Chie, Kanji and Naoto (the two most neglected characters!) along with their Personas. There are also 2 secrets, presumably another member and their Persona. It could be anyone: Yukiko, Rise, Yosuke, maybe even Teddie. Yeah, it’s probably Teddie. You can snag a box of 12 at AmiAmi for ¥4,300. Ouch!

Taito has been a savior to Persona fans recently with their expansive Persona 4 Arena prize figure line, especially after MegaHouse’s “hey all the characters you want will be exclusive!” bullshit. So far they have released almost all of the main characters, it’s really just Mitsuru and Akihiko left (who will almost certainly join it eventually). Oh, and Labrys! But of course the question is, can Taito deliver?
Well Izanagi, the first in the series along with Aegis who will be out in March, just got released so we get to take a peek at the final product! Of course the paint is not perfect, but this is a prize figure after all. For $15 he looks pretty damn amazing! No major messups, and the pose looks fantastic. I can’t wait for mine!

Taito didn’t really show up to Wonder Festival, but apparently they still have a ton of new prize figures ready to be ordered! We’ve got a great batch this time around, with the biggest additions being the continuation of their Persona 4 Arena line which now includes Elizabeth (who is an individual release) and Teddie & Rise (who come together). So glad to be seeing more of Elizabeth!
Then we’ve got a swimsuit version of Soniko featuring a rather suggestive ice pop. Personally, I think there’s never enough figures of her! You can grab these all at Big In Japan, but act quick: Rise’s single-figure pre-orders have already sold out!

MegaHouse has been taunting us with their last two announced Persona girls, Rise and Chie, for quite some time now. I mean, we saw Rise painted months ago! Well now she’s up for order, but it’s not good news because in a cruel twist of fate MegaHouse decided to make her exclusive to the Megatrea shop.
Personally I think this is the best Rise scaled figure so far so of course I will be getting her, but begrudgingly so. She’ll retail for ¥7800, which is not bad given that she has two removable accessories (her glasses and headphones) and an alternate face. But still, with proxy fees she won’t be cheap…

I think Nanako from Persona 4 is possibly the cutest little sister in anything ever. Ahh, just look at her! She’s so sweet, plus she does your laundry and cooks. Pretty good for a little kid. While she’s one of the more popular characters among fans this certainly hasn’t been reflected in the merchandise… Nanako only has a trading figure or two, sadly.
However, she’s finally getting her moment in the sun thanks to the gk circle Little Pink Summer, who also did that awesome kit of the MC last Wonder Festival. Nanako will be at the event for only ¥7,000, and I’m sure us Persona fans will be praying to the figure gods for a PVC version.

Most Persona 4 fans would kill for a figure of Tohru Adachi, but we all know it’s never ever going to happen. There are two companies that are slightly prolific when it comes to figures: Altair (who has done zero Persona boys) and MegaHouse (who has the license but would definitely do Yosuke/Kanji, probably even Dojima before Adachi).
While we have no hope of a real Adachi, at least we can drool over this nifty photoshop job! The base toy is Alter’s Izaya Orihara, whose pose is certainly fitting for Adachi. He looks so good ;~; Hey Alter… psst… make this. Please.

December was (obviously) the last month of 2012, and boy was it a doozy. Even with the massive amount of delays that came late in the year it was just totally jam-packed with releases. In fact, this might actually be our biggest month of orders… ever. Well, maybe excluding July of 2010, where we had an entire wall of loot from SDCC. But in terms of imports, yeah, it’s a bit overwhelming! So hit the jump to check out all the goodies.

You know what we totally don’t have enough of? Persona 4 figures! Just kidding, we totally do have plenty, but as a huge MegaTen figure I am all up for more more more. Taito has been a pretty prolific force in the Persona world with large prize figures, plushes, and now the cutest darn minifigs ever. Seriously, these rival Kotobukiya’s set for cuteness!
Taito has made the whole main cast: Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Kanji, Rise, Naoto, and Teddie. Of course they’re prize figures so it won’t be so easy to get them: thankfully HLJ has most of the cast, minus Naoto. She sure is popular! The whole gang is on Toyslogic if you don’t mind the wait (along with the plushes!) And as always, you can also keep an eye on the regular after-market sites as sets are bound to pop up.
