  • As a kid, I was absolutely obsessed with Egyptian mythology and history. It’s a interest that’s followed me into adulthood, though I’ve branched out a bit from my 8-year-old self and study pretty much any mythology and culture I can get my hands onto. Thus, you know, the degree in Anthropology. But Egypt has always remained my first love: I compulsively buy any knicknacks related to it, so I was over the moon when I found out we were getting a (moe) King Tut figure. What more could a girl ask for? Ques Q is hardly the biggest manufacturer out there, but I trust them to execute simpler figures like this. And Tut turned out beautifully: it’s a simple figure to be sure, without the paint details you’d get from a company like Alter, but I absolutely adore her. The melancholy expression, the slight head tilt, and of course the not-too-orange skin are just perfection to me. Of course I had to take her out for a shoot (and got attacked by cactus thorns that are still embedded in my skin, damn you nature!). Check out our gallery of her after the jump!

  • It’s been a while since we’ve had a gallery or review of a Miku figure on the site, but now that summer is officially here and Good Smile Company’s Tell Your World Miku showed up, it felt like a perfect time to bring a Miku out for a shoot. Tell Your World Miku has one of my favorite sculpts of a Miku figure in a while featuring great detail and winding tendrils of her twintails and she has such a soft, yet introspective face that conveys a wide variety of emotions depending on the angle. Tell Your World Miku is rather dainty and tiny for the 1/8th scale that she is, but that seems to be more of Sakurako’s sculpting style than anything else. And it’s not necessarily a negative either; it really makes her look that much more fragile in these shots, which looks great in all honesty. When we saw that the colors of the flowers out front were pretty much identical to the pattern on her dress Leah and I had to take her out for a few quick pictures. Hit the jump to check them out!

  • Spring is in the air and the cherry blossoms are blooming, but so too are the cats on the magical cherry blossom and cat tree. We managed to get some pictures of the fruits of this mysterious tree at the peak of their beauty when they manage to sparkle and shimmer. Coming in three sizes and styles, these aren’t your usual flowers; there’s the large and intimidating, yet gorgeous, full sized blossom, a teeny tiny cute blossom, and in between the rarer-than-four-leaf-clover lucky cat ones, which are said to bring good fortune to those who pick them. Which is your favorite? Head inside to get a better peek at this modern wonder of nature.

  • Bishoujo Jubilee is only two months away from release, though it must seem like a lifetime for fans of the character: she is definitely one of the most under-represented Marvel girls! I mean, she’s a mall rat/gymnast with sparkly powers who happens to be a vampire. Kind of hard to sell unless you love the 80’s/90’s with a passion… like some writers on this site. We’ve seen a few galleries of her already, but it was pretty impossible not to take her for a test drive at NYCC. So head on into the gallery and check out everyone’s favorite teenage misfit in action!

  • We’ve taken a look at Anna Williams’ Bishoujo already today, so of course we can’t leave her sister out of the mix! This is another Bishoujo I’ve been on the fence about for a while now. On one hand we’ve got an awesome blurple camouflage print, a beautiful ponytail and a butt & thighs that could kill a (wo)man. On the other hand, we’re back to Shunya’s boob & butts pose, and her spine makes my head hurt. Will the majesty of the booty beat out another turret spine? Will shiny latex override the logical portion of my brain? Who knows, only time will tell! For now, check her out in the gallery below.

  • Rogue is definitely one of the more popular X-Men, and possibly the most popular female member, so of course Kotobukiya has produced quite a few figures of her. Their Rogue Bishoujo, which came in two variations, was one of the very first Bishoujos (high time for a redo HINT HINT), and of course there are many statue versions of her to be had. But few represent her totally rad retro mall-rat hair, which kind of makes her seem like she belongs in Jem & The Holograms. As we announced previously, they’ll be continuing the long-going Danger Room Sessions line with Rogue, who comes in two flavors (for the price of one!)–retro hair or mom hair. Okay, it’s supposed to be “modern hair” but let’s be honest. Mom hair.

  • It’s no secret that I was crazy disappointed in the art reveal for Anna Williams’ Bishoujo. I mean, the original Shunya version had that insane pattern on it… and a not-ridiculous pose. I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be sold on the sculpt, which is a good thing since Stephen and I aren’t currently collecting the Tekken Bishes. But of course Shunya and his booty-making skills proved me wrong once again. I mean sure, the pose is absurd and there’s a lot wrong with her spine, but… I can’t resist. The power of the meaty thighs is too strong.

  • Is there a person alive who doesn’t love Wonder Woman? Well probably, but I don’t want to be friends with them so who cares. Wondy is everything little girls aspire to be: beautiful, powerful, loved, worshiped, and a kicker of serious ass. And while I love Kotobukiya’s Bishoujos of her a ton, they really topped themselves with the ArtFX version of her. I mean, her face. It’s just so pretty! And the outfit, uhnf. Plus her makeup is totally on point. I bet her lipstick is MAC Diva.

  • I steeled myself against statue collecting a long time ago. Back when I first set out into the dangerous world of toys I promised myself one thing–don’t get attached to statues! Resin + high prices is a recipe for wallet disaster. Also I’m super clumsy and bump into shelves all the time, which is not good when everything in them are hyper-fragile. So far, I’ve done pretty well. Sure, figures like Diablo make me weak in the knees and we own a handful of larger statues, but 99% of the time I keep my cool. Well, not today! I am always tempted by Kotobukiya’s Fine Art line and while I usually manage to resist temptation, Carnage is just… perfect. Bloody, disgusting, and perfect. The pose! The crazy blade hands! The terrifying mouth! I need him so bad. Someone send help.

  • Zatanna has always been one of my favorite DC girls. I mean, how can you not love a stage magician who is actually magic in real life? Plus, you know, fishnets and an amazingly cute/borderline cheesecake outfit help. Her art was so promising, and I was really hoping for Koto to pull out all the stops with this Bishoujo! We already took a quick peek at her, but we got the opportunity to take a closer look at Zatanna behind the glass at NYCC. And, like most of the DC girls, she looks pretty amazing. The hair sculpt is so detailed, and I adore her pose. The gaps in her outfit will obviously not be there on the finished version, and she will also be coming with real fishnets!
