  • This has been a very busy month in the PVC figure world. Earlier in the month we had the 26th Prize Fair, the Miyazawa Model Exhibition Fall 2011, and the Gundam Expo. This week we had some awesome magazine scans and of course MegaHobby Expo! MegaHobby might have been the biggest of them all, with tons of new figure news. There were more new announcements than I was expecting, and it looks like 2012 is even more crowded now in terms of releases! So hit the jump to check out a roundup of all of our coverage as well as a gallery of all the odds and ends that showed up.

  • So, I’m not the hugest fan of One Piece–I usually find the designs too stylized for my liking, but two of the new POP line really caught my eye at MegaHobby. Both are female, and severely underrepresented in the One Piece figure world: the Goldfish Princess Shirahoshi and Jewelry Bonney. Of course these are going to go lightning-fast, but I might just have to go for Shirahoshi. She looks so beautiful and elegant! [via YahooshopFigures]

  • MegaHouse’s POP (Portrait of Pirates) line is a powerhouse in the figure-world. They are one of the few lines that consistently sells out, though in all honesty that’s due to the ridiculously low run numbers as much as it is to the popularity of the figures. If AmiAmi put up only a few hundred of every scaled figure instead of their usual 6,000, you can bet everything would sell out in 5 seconds! The current POP line seems to revolve around their Timeskip incarnations, and Sanji is the next to get a “Sailing Again” figure. Usually this line doesn’t really do it for me, but I do like his sleek, dark outfit and the alternate lecherous face is just hilarious. He also comes with two hands–smoking or thumbs-up. MegaHouse likes to give you lots of display options with their figures, a gimmick I really appreciate! Sanji will retail for only ¥6,090, which is very cheap considering the current retail price of most figures, and he stands 1/8 scale tall. He’ll be released in March and pre-orders open this Wednesday so get your F5 keys ready as he is going to fly off the shelves! [via Portrait of Pirates Blog]

  • Once again, our loot is two months late! I was thinking back about our July and June posts, though, and it doesn’t seem so bad. We didn’t even get payment requests for our August orders until mid-September, and it takes a while to receive everything and then organize it all. If you order only 1 one 2 figures a month you’ll get them right on time, but the bigger the order the longer the delay. Anyway, back on topic! August was our biggest month ever for figure orders, as we ended up with both of our AmiAmi orders and a flood of exclusives that all seemed to come out at once. It’s probably going to be our biggest month ever (or at least for quite some time), as Stephen and I have started trimming down our orders quite a bit.

  • Griffon is probably best known for their Touhou lineup, so it’s no surprise that they announce 2 or 3 new ones every month or so. However, I don’t think they’ve ever announced this many at once! The new images from Reisaitai shown NINE figures, seven of which are new. Craziness! First we have a new, badass version of Remilia which is already sculpted, and a POP version of Reimu. The outlines are of Shou Toramaru, Melancholy Medicine, Cirno, Nazrin, Lorelei Mystia, Byakuren Hijiri, and Hina Kagiyama. We already knew about POP Reimu and Byakuren, but now we have some clearer images. It will be interesting to see how these turn out, as Griffon’s Touhou line is kind of hit-or-miss for me. I’m hoping that Cirno ends up looking badass, because my collection is sorely missing a scaled figure of this cutie! [via Figure/GK]
