  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • Every Wonder Festival I think to myself “there can’t possibly be even more Nendoroids at the next WonFest.” Then, like magic, the Nendo Creep happens and we get at least 5-10 more than last year at the next event. It’s a plague, a really cute plastic plague. I think they’re multiplying on their own at this point. This year we have a bounty of Nendos, so let’s get into it. We’ve got Ariel, Astolfo, Mordred, Lina Inverse, Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Elf Yamada from Eromanga Sensei, Portal 2, KanColle, Meitantei Conan, Beatrice from Re;Zero, Wonder Woman, Overwatch, Mega Man, The Snack World, Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, and so much more. They are all named in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. And don’t forget we’ve already seen Nendos from Orange Rouge, Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, and Vocaloid! Which one are you looking forward to the most? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life For You site and King Junker’s Twitter]

  • Nendoroids. I love ’em, but on days like this I think to myself “why are there so many?!” We’ve seen the Nendos from Persona 5 and Fate/Grand Order. But there’s more. SO MANY MORE. We’ve got a surprise Lum, Fullmetal Alchemist cuties, Atlas & P-Body, Tony Taka Racing Miku, a new Kirby x2, Leonard Watch, Li from Cardcaptor, maiko Madoka Nendoroids, a Detective Conan quartet, new Rin & Len, even more Love Live!, Vocaloids Rin & Len, Attack on Titan, Re:Zero, a new Reimu (who looks sooo much better than the old one), Little Witch Academia, Fire Emblem, Kimi no Na wa, Ero Manga-sensei, Granblue Fantasy, Kyoukai no Rinne, Serval from Kemono Friends (so cute!! but why is the African mammal white guys), Saga of Tanya the Evil, Little Armory, Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou, BanG Dream!, Is the order a Rabbit?, AND MORE. • Back at NYCC we gave you a first look at Atlas and P-Body’s figmas and today at New York Toy Fair we got to see these bad boys painted! We’ll have more pictures later in the weekend, but for now, here’s a quick glimpse of the painted duo. I’m really loving the pops of color in their eyes and on their portal guns and the white paint is super slick and glossy — as it should be. Now that these two seem to be a ways along, I wonder if we’ll see GLaDOS in the future?

  • I have such fond memories of Portal 2. Or rather, I have fond memories of Stephen playing and me shouting, “oh what if you put that thingy on the one over there??” I’m a very helpful backseat videogamer. The announcement of figmas of the co-op robots ATLAS and P-body came as a huge surprise, since it came out of nowhere, and we were thrilled to take a super close look at these cute lil morons. We also got to talk with some of the designers and got some behind the scenes info: their eyes move! You can close them and fiddle with them to your heart’s content. The level of detail on these is totally insane, especially given how tiny they are. I can’t wait to see the paint!

  • We usually don’t get many announcements from Good Smile Company & Co at New York Comic Con. Sure, some paint and sculpt updates, but an entire reveal?! Yet here we are, with some shiny new figures to bring you. In a surprising move Max Factory is producing figmas of P-body and ATLAS from Portal 2! Perhaps not that surprising, since it’s clear they are aiming more and more at the US market–especially in terms of the video game licenses they’ve been picking up for Nendoroids & figmas. I know most people would prefer Chell, but I absolutely love the goofy design of these two. And look how detailed the sculpts are! Far more than what we usually see from figmas.

  • We have seen a bit from ThreeA so far this Toy Fair like their Dr. Doom, Iron Man, and the new figure lines. But of course that wasn’t all that they packed into their booth! There were also Squares. Little ones, big ones, chubby ones, um… well, they’re all kind of chubby aren’t they? So many Squares! I want them all. I guess there were some non-Square related things, but who cares?! Oh that’s right, everyone who isn’t me. Metal Gear Rex, Portal and Team Fortress made an appearance, along with the obligatory Tomorrow Kings & Queens and Adventure Kartel in a new size. There are new figures in a “Parade” line featuring FAT APPLE BIRDS? What even give them all to me. Then there are creepy doll girls called Sleepers and some other stuff you can totes check out after the jump.

  • There are a lot of ladies in Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo collaboration with Shunya Yamashita. How many, exactly? Well counting recolors and announced figures, a whopping 55! Considering that they only started up in 2009, they’re coming out at an almost unprecedented speed. Probably because there’s just so much ground to cover: we’ve got the original comic girls as well as characters from video games and movie franchises. The possibilities are almost endless! Of course every fan of the line has a long list of characters they’d like to see done up by Shunya, Stephen and I decided to compile a list of our biggest wants, with guest appearances from our Bishoujo-addicted staff members Chris and Mir! Check them all out after the jump.

  • What’s this, Leah and Stephen getting a loot post done in a timely fashion? That’s right, we got our last November shipment yesterday and our loot post is all ready to go. Mostly thanks to Stephen having a new computer which has really streamlined the photo process. Anywho, November was a particularly packed month for figures. Seriously, almost as much as September & October together! This is mostly because after some Nendoroid- and figma-light months we ended up getting seemingly a year’s worth of both in one box. Oh AmiAmi, you are the best at box tetris! Hit the jump to check out everything we got.

  • Ever since the release of the first Portal, fans have been clamoring for a figure of the silent heroine Chell. Well, a over year after the release of Portal 2, it’s finally happening! NECA is taking her on in  7″ action figure, and for something of this size I think the detail is pretty decent. Not, you know, PVC good but for the US side of things her face is surprisingly accurate! I am surprised that it took this long though, especially after the success of their Portal Gun. She’s a “limited” edition of 15,000 pieces, aka she’ll be everywhere come her February 2013 release date. Chell comes with tons of articulation and her portal gun even lights up! I might need to get her to go with my light-up turret and Companion Square. [via NECA]
