Plastikitty Loot: November 2012

What’s this, Leah and Stephen getting a loot post done in a timely fashion? That’s right, we got our last November shipment yesterday and our loot post is all ready to go. Mostly thanks to Stephen having a new computer which has really streamlined the photo process.

Anywho, November was a particularly packed month for figures. Seriously, almost as much as September & October together! This is mostly because after some Nendoroid- and figma-light months we ended up getting seemingly a year’s worth of both in one box. Oh AmiAmi, you are the best at box tetris! In fact… she’s pretty damn close to the bottom. I know she has a ton of fans but the boob window is just not for me. As such, I was way more excited about the DC Bishoujo releases like Harley Quinn (review) and Poison Ivy (review).

But then, they showed off her sculpt and I got to look at her in person. Damn! Even my Power Girl hating side couldn’t resist her beauty. And of course, I need her to go with Huntress. So how does the final product live up to my pre-release excitement? Hit the jump to find out!

Plastikitty Review: Kotobukiya’s DC Bishoujo Power Girl

I’ll be frank, Power Girl has never been my favorite DC heroine. In fact… she’s pretty damn close to the bottom. I know she has a ton of fans but the boob window is just not for me. As such, I was way more excited about the DC Bishoujo releases like Harley Quinn (review) and Poison Ivy (review).

She seemed to appease all fans: tasteful, true to the character, but still very pinup-y. While she’s probably my least-favorite DC girl it’s hard to deny how awesome she looks, and I’m thrilled they went with a more muscled look. So check out the gallery to get up close and personal with Kara Zor-L!

This week will go down in history as the week of ridiculously expensive figures: we have several 1/8 scale ladies this time that break the $100 price-point. And no, they’re not crazy coldcast Ikkitousen girls, they’re from pretty big-name manufacturers! But while some companies jump their prices through the roof others keep them more middle of the road: we’ve even got a lovely 1/7 scale figure for less than $60. So prepare your wallet and hit the jump to check them out!

About a month later we got her finalized art and now, in June, we have the first images of her sculpt and boy does she look great! Her face is spot on to Shunya’s artwork, something many other figures in the Marvel and DC lines struggled with, and I’m really glad with how she turned out. I love her flowing cape and there’s the usual level of detail in the rest of her outfit so she doesn’t look out of place with the rest of the gals.

I also really like how her hair turned out and I’m glad her “assets” aren’t as in-your-face as they were in the comics; she’s fairly toned down here and looks much more powerful than a piece of eye-candy. Power Girl will be 1/7th scale like the rest of the DC Bishoujo line and will be available in November and most likely we’ll see more of her around San Diego Comic Con time next month!

[via Kotobukiya's Facebook]

Kotobukiya’s Newest Bishoujo is the DC Comics Power Girl

Way back at Toy Fair we got word of Power Girl joining the DC Bishoujo line by Kotobukiya along with some rough sketch artwork for her. Fans seemed quite enthusiastic, especially that they chose to portray her in her old outfit instead of the new (ugly) one. Personally I am not really a fan of the boob-window but Shunya Yamashita has really toned down her bustiness and made her look more natural. Also, like Wonder Woman, she is quite muscular-looking! The DC line is a bit slower than the Marvel Bishoujos, so I suppose it will be a little while before we see the sculpt for this.

[via Kotobukiya's Facebook]
