Rage of Bahamut Archive

  • As always, we have seen a lot from Kotobukiya at Toy Fair. Bishoujos Thor & Loki, Bishoujo Wonder Girl, Big Chap, Wolverine, Thanos, and then the overviews of their DC, Marvel, Bishoujo, and Star Wars toys. Phew! Can a booth even fit any more figures? The answer is always yes. Like usual, there weren’t a ton of PVC girls (and guys), but we had some! Like their gorgeous new Rage of Bahamut figures. And there were some other US-centric licenses too, like Halo, and the cutest damn Alien figure you’ll ever see. Look at his sassy pose! Amazing!

  • We have already shown you a lot of the important announcements from Kotobukiya’s panel: Marvel and DC, the Thanos sculpt, and lots of Bishoujo news. But of course, there was lots more! And I do mean lots. Let’s start with PVC: they had info on the new Rage of Bahamut figures but, more excitingly, assurance that Vania will definitely not be the last one we’ll see from them. We had lots of Star Wars, of course, and Halo as well (along with an announcement for a new Halo series). There was also a whole lot of Bishoujos, comic statues, Alien figures, and everything in between. And last but not least, they said that they want to hear from fans about future merchandise! So you can head on over to a survey and let them know what you’d like to see down the pipeline.

  • Figure prices are skyrocketing, the yen is tanking, figure collectors are being driven out of the hobby. So you know what we need? More figure events! Clearly. That will solve things. So what’s this show? It’s not Wonder Festival, not MegaHobby, not CharaHobby… it’s Hobby Show! The most generically named figure event of all time. Of all time. KanColle was, unsurprisingly, the main focus. We had a LOT from Max Factory: Harbour Princess and Atago both showed up, though unpainted. Figmas of Fubuki & Shimakaze along with the figFIX Mutsu were on display, along with non KanColle figmas: most notably the figma and Plamax Yoshika from Strike Witches. Plus the Metal Gear Solid, Expelled from Paradise,  and Ghost in the Shell figmas! And we have KanColle Nendos too: Akitsushima and anime version Fubuki. Plus an announcement from Aoshima, they’ll be doing a figure of Akitsushima. Of course there were a (few) non-Kantai girls and boys. Most notably, Tomytec is making Ushio to Tora Nendoroids of Ushio Aotsuki and Tora. Kotobukiya brought a handful of figures from Rage of Bahamut, Shining Resonance, Aquarion Logos, Tales of Zestiria, and Mononoke. And last but not least, Aoshima is picking up a gorgeous garage kit of Kongou from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova! [via Hobby Search’s Blog]

  • Flare, Alter’s baby spinoff company, has been going pretty slow and steady recently. But they really kicked it up a notch for Wonder Festival: lots of sculpts, and LOTS of announcements. Their Bahamut girl Helblindi is out and looks AMAZING, plus we have an announcement for Vila from Granblue Fantasy. And while Saber Extra still is not sculpted, Caster is: and she looks so cute! Then we have a sculpt update for Venera-sama. And the announcements? They’ll be doing Subaru & Aoi from Houkago no Pleiades as cat girls. Then there’s another pair of cat girl figures from Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm: Mashiro Arisaki and Misaki Tobisawa. Last but not least, we have Ririka from Brilliant Stars! [via Akibahobby]

  • Recently, ques Q has been ALL ABOUT Kantai Collection. And this year… yeah, no changes. Their booth is like 70% KanColle. So let’s just dive right in. We’ve got figures of Kongou, Haruna, Atago, Ooi, Yukikaze, Kirishima, Nagato, Naka, Takao and more. Then we’ve got announcements for Northern Princess (!!) and Ro 500, along with the previously announced Hibiki. Sadly, Love Bomber Sonico did not make an appearance (though they have art for her out). There’s some Touhou Project (Patchy and FINALLY the evil Remilia), along with announcements like Lancer from Fate/Grand Order. How… how many Fate versions are there? [via AmiAmi’s Blog]

  • Kotobukiya showed us quite a bit in previews, but of course there are always surprising things on display! This year there’s a lot of Tony Taka: the new butterfly sister is sculpted, and we have several of the Shining girls on display: the gorgeously perfect Rinna Mayfield, and Kirika. The Bahamut girls are out as well, along with Shinobu & Maia Tsukigane from the teasers. Plus Fuyuka Yukishiro from magazine scans. There were, of course, boys on display too! They’re making a figure of Mikleo from Tales of Zestiria, plus two Touken Ranbu guys: Hotarumaru and Shokudaikiri Mitsutada. There’s also new Kantai Collection girls: Akatsuki & Hibiki. Not enough announcements? They are also working on a figure from Dragon III and Chino Kafuu. Plus tons more. Check it all out in the gallery! [via AmiAmi’s Facebook]

  • We already got part 1 of Kotobukiya’s teasers, and now it’s time for the other batch! This is honestly more of an updated version, because two of the sculpts from batch 1 (Vania and Mystery Warden Spinne) are painted. That was… pretty friggin fast. Then there are two other teasers! One is for their seated Shinobu, and the other is brand-new: Maia Tsukigane from Aquarion Logos. I’m shocked that there are no Tony Taka related teasers! What is the world coming to?? [via Kotobukiya’s Blog]

  • Well, guys, we just got what might be the mother of all (non-event) figure announcements. Cygames has just shown off ten new figures from Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy–and by shown off I mean showing us art. No actual figures today, sadly. Let’s start with the Bahamut ones: we already knew about Kotobukiya’s Vania and Mystery Warden Spinne, who were featured in their WonFest teasers, but they’ll also be making a figure of Dark Dragoon Forte. We also know about ques Q’s Sylvia, but there are two other new announcements: Flare will be working on Summer Brindy (that name, that OUTFIT), and Max Factory will bring us a new Miku Hatsune: the Winter Heroine version, based of course on art from Bahamut. Then we have the Granblue figures. Most of them are Phat! company: in fact, two were already announced a while back. Phat! will be making Medicchus of Cagliostro and Claris, along with scales of Yueru, Cagliostro, Io, and Idol Version Gita. Phew, that is a lot of figures for one company. Alter will be making a figure of the header girl Anira (sculpted by Yagyuu Toshiyuki, hnng), Flare will be working on Vila, and Aoshima will bring us Claris. Oh, and there’s one more: Flare is making a figure of Noah from Little Noah. I wonder how many of them will be at WonFest? [via Cygames]

  • Kotobukiya loves Wonder Festival teasers more than perhaps any company other than Good Smile, but they like to give them to us nice and slow. Like, 3 at a time. Over a week. Meaning this is the first of probably 3 batches. And we’re getting… 3! It’s like a holy trinity of teasing. Today, it’s mostly Shingeki no Bahamut action: we have a teaser for the sculpt of the announced Vania, and also a brand-new girl. It’s Mystery Warden Spinne! Who, you ask? Don’t ask me, I just work here. This is what she looks like. Pretty cute, right? We also have a Cu-Poche teaser for Hibiki from KanColle. [via Koto’s Blog]

  • Nowadays we can except two things from ques Q: Kantai and Touhou. Both, of course, were out in force! We’ll start with KanColle because I am so freaking tired of talking about it. Yukikaze, Kongou, Nagato and Haruna were out along with a ton of announcements: Takao, Naka, and Ooi. As for Touhou, we have the Remilia (still not painted, and no updated on Remilia #1 whyy), a new Patchouli Knowledge, Komeji Koishi, and an announcement for her sister Komeji Satori. Of course it can’t all be KanColle and Touhou. Their amazing Amy (see what I did there) from Suisei no Gargantia is her and FANTASTIC. Then we have Labrys, Chino Kafuu, Venera-sama, TWO announced figures of Takao, an original bunny character Usamimizugi, and Hoozuki. Last but not least (in my heart) is the announcement of Sylvia from Rage of Bahamut. [via Akibahobby]
