Ranko Kanzaki Archive

  • Once again, Alter’s event booth is totally dominated by idol girls (and some idol boys!). Oddly enough, I kind of hate watching all those shows but I passionately love the figures. Who knows with these things. And oh boy is this a good year for idol-loving peeps. Their stunning Ranko is painted, along with Sachiko. We’ve got the world’s freaking cutest Anzu Futaba and a sassy as hell Shiki Ichinose. As for Love Live!, there are new figures of Rin Hoshizora and Hanayo Koizumi. For the boys, we have Ai Mikaze and Ranmaru Kurosaki from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ painted and Camus is sculpted. The much-anticipated Okoi from Oboro Muramasa is here, and we have an announcement for Torahime! There was a surprise sculpt for SAO‘s Sinon, the casual Lancer sculpt, Ikumi Mito it painted, and we’ve got a very suggestive maid Lala. Oh, and Santa Alter Saber is on display too! It’s so weird and over the top but I love Christmas figures. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • Alter has always been my favorite figure manufacturer, and while there have been times my heart was swayed by others (Max Factory! AlphaMax! Orchid Seed!), I come back to them time and time again because of their consistent quality and unique sculpts. And once again they brought it in force to MegaHobby with a variety of gorgeous sculpts, painted figures, and new announcements. Of course there were a few from their IDOLM@STER line: their Rin Shibuya (who looks basically identical to the GSC one, let’s be honest) is painted, and they brought out the sculpt for their perfect winged Ranko who I love with all my heart. And the boys were out in force! Rei and Ritsu Sakuma from Ensemble Stars!, Cecil Aijima from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪, Haruka Nanase and Tachibana Mako from Free!, and an announcement for 3 new Free! boys: Sousuke Yamazaki, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rei Ryuugazaki. Plus the brand-new Dio Eraclea from Last Exile. They also had a beautiful 1/6 scale figure of Takao, the cheesy but appealing Santa Saber Alter, Ikumi Mito finally sculpted, Lala Deviluke in a maid outfit, Plachta from the Atelier games, and two new announcements: Hikari Karibuchi from Brave Witches and Okoi from Oboro Muramasa! • Most shows do not get mini-events where the figures on display are 99% from it. But somehow, IDOLM@STER consistently does! Probably because every company under the sun has made at least one of the girls, so there is always a lot of news. And this event is no exception. There was so much on display! Alpha x Omega’s Nao Kamiya, Rin Shibuya, and Karen Houjou trio is painted, as is Alter’s Love Laika set of Minami Nitta, Ranko Kanzaki, and Anastasia. Alter also had two new announcements: Uzuki Shimamura and Shiki Ichinose. Oh, and the sculpt for Sachiko Koshimizu on display. Alter, calm down! Wave, a company that’s very much fallen out of popularity, was on hand with a few girls. Mika Jougasaki is painted, and they had a sculpt for swimsuit Ranko along with the announcement for a Beach Queen Nitta. Last but not least, Kotobukiya brought a few girls! They had a surprise sculpt for Yuki Himekawa along with an announcement for Cu-Poche Kaede Takagaki. [UPDATE] Added two of Phat’s figures! [via whitenoize & figsoku]

  • Ranko is hands-down my favorite IDOLM@STER character (sorry Miki!), and thankfully she also seems like one of the most popular ones figure-wise, especially when it comes to amazing sculpts. We had that spectacular Phat! Company figure of her, and most recently Max Factory’s take on my waifu which we last saw at Miyazawa Model. And guys, it’s so perfect. She’s perfect. I mean, not only does it contain a ton of things I love (wings, clear PVC, twintails, purple clothing), the sculpt is just phenomenal. So detailed, so crisp! Of course all that work is going to cost you. Ranko comes in at ¥12,778 with a November release date, so at least we have a long time to save up! Pre-Order At: HLJ | AmiAmi

  • Miyazawa is one of those events I always forget about. I saw all this news popping up and said “what the hell?!” But indeed, it’s one of the (many) autumn hobby events! So let’s get right into it. Phat! Company seemed to bring the most: their new Ranko, Makoto’s sculpt, a tiny teaser of Takane, the action figure Labrys (so cuute!), the painted  Yuudachi Kai Ni, and the chibi figure of Hikoujouki (Harbor Princess). Oh, and let’s not forget: the full sculpt for their Shiro! KanColle unsurprisingly ruled above all, once again. We’ve got the Nendoroids of Suzuya & Kumano, along with ANOTHER Nendo announcement: Kirishima! There was also the sculpt for the figFIX Amatsukaze. Nendoroids of Elsa, Senbonzakura Miku, Kyouko Toshino, Akari Yomatsuri, and Tobio Kageyama. Of course that’s not all: don’t forget about the tiny Detective Conan and FREEing’s yukata figures of Misaka & Kuroko. [UPDATE] Added Max Factory’s Venera-sama, Gift’s Vita and Penguin Parade’s Miyuki Shiba from moeyo! [via Hobbylog, Phat!’s Twitter]

  • With magazine scans on the decline (thanks so much, uploaders), Good Smile’s monthly NicoNico broadcasts are about our only steady stream of month-to-month figure updates. Granted, it’s only from GSC & their (many) umbrella companies, but it’s better than nothing! They had a lot this month so let’s just dive in, starting with the Nendoroids! Senbonzakura Miku, Archer, and Kantai Collection‘s Kumano & Suzuya are all painted. On the figma side of things we’ve got a basically full preview of Lucina from Fire Emblem and then a rather startling announcement: it’s a transformer-type Miku Hatsune who is… a robot race car? I don’t even know. We’ve got scaled news too, of course: quite a bit! Our header girl Ranko finally seems ready for orders, and like some of the newer Phat! Cinderella girls she will come in both a deluxe Anniversary Princess version and a fancy-base-less cheaper one. She’s not the only figure getting two versions: GSC’s Musashi Kai will have both full armor and light armament versions. We’ve also got a preview of Max Factory’s Venera-sama, and GSC is teasing the painted base of Michelle K. Davis. [via mfc]

  • Who doesn’t like IDOLM@STER and its many variations? Heartless beasts. That’s why so many figures from it were at Wonder Festival! The crown jewel was, of course, the painted Ranko Kanzaki from Phat! Company. Their Takane Shijou was also out and pretty fabulous. But that wasn’t the only Takane! FREEing is working on a yukata set of Takane, Chihaya Kisaragi, and and Miki Hoshii. Not enough for you? Well Miki got a figma announcement, and Kotobukiya’s Cu-Poche Hibiki also made an appearance! • Magazine scans have been getting smaller and smaller every month. This phenomenon, combined with Wonder Festival only a few days away, means that we only have a few things for you. And by “a few” I mean 6 scans. No, that’s not a joke. There are 6 things here. Step up your game, scanner dude in Japan! First and most importantly (to me) is a new version of Senhime/Sen Tokugawa that Alter will be adding to their Hyakka line. She really seems to have a lot of Seven Sins influence… not surprising seeing that’s what the artist has been working on recently! We’ve also got full color scans of Amakuni’s Lucy Heartfilia, who will have two different hair looks! We’ve also got a 1/10 scale Aila Jyrkiainen from MegaHouse (since when did they make figures in that scale?), a scan of Phat! Ranko that has zero updates (thanks), and a TON of KanColle announcements from Broccoli. They’ll be taking on Shigure Kai Ni, Murasame Kai, Yuudachi Kai Ni, and Shiratsuyu Kai. [via Figure/gk]

  • When Volks announced a Dollfie Dream Sister of Ranko Kanzaki and showed off Rin Shibuya, my heart was all aflutter. I’ve really been trying to stay out of the DD game, mostly because of space issues–they’re just SO BIG. Also DD clothing is insanely expensive. But I think Ranko might make me break down–I mean, I even skipped Miku, but something about Ranko is just too beautiful. Plus, her stage outfit is the best thing ever. Rin is quite lovely as well, though I don’t feel that tug of “GOTTA OWN RIGHT NOW.” She does remind me a little bit of Miki Hoshii, my DD holy grail, but two dolls at once is just too many! Her stage outfit though… will probably stain like crazy. Dolpa 31 takes place on May 5th, and the international lottery will start soon after. Are any of you Plastikitties planning on entering? • Spring is in the air. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and figure events are happening! Good Smile always seems to dominate Miyazawa Model Exibition, which is a relatively small event, and they brought a ton of goodies this year. We’ve got a closer look at Phat! Company’s recently announced Ranko, their Sachiko Koshimizu is painted, and we also have the sculpt for Kosaki Onodera. From Penguin Parade we have the sculpts for Mutsu and Nagato from Kantai Collection that we saw at Wonder Festival, along with Max Factory’s cute-but-almost-creepy I-58. And last but not least, Good Smile Company themselves! They brought Saber Extra (no differences, though there is a look at the fabled butt window), and their Gray Fullbuster from Fairy Tail is fully painted & sculpted. Added Good Smile Company’s Mio Honda! [via Kahotan’s Twitter]
