Rebuild of Evangelion Archive

  • Prize Fairs are always so exciting. I probably should put my love of prize figures behind me, but they always reel me back in with new goodies! I mean, look at that header. Chock-full of stuff I absolutely have to own. We’ve got another Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor, Evangelion Q figures, Sailor Pluto & Chibi Moon, tons of Kantai Collection prizes… and that’s only scratching the surface! In the gallery you’ll find Puzzle & Dragon, IDOLM@STER, Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, Knights of Sidonia (not the song, though boy is that confusing), Sword Art Online, Girlfriend, Amagi Brilliant Park, Attack on Titan… and more, of course! Check them out below. [via Hobby Maniax & Dengeki]

  • Sometimes being a fan of Asuka is really hard. I mean, she’s my #1 favorite anime character. By a long shot. But she just has so many damn figures and a lot of them are really good. Also, they’re usually expensive. And recently, exclusive. Like that Volks one, sob. But today we’re taking a look at Amakuni’s Asuka, based on (surprise!) her Eva Q appearance! Ahh, the lance. Her flowing hair. The butt shot potential. Her retail price is ¥11,000 which is pretty reasonable given her scale (1/6) and height (15 inches!), and she also doesn’t come out until May. MAY. That’s AFTER my birthday next year. The hell, Amakuni? Pre-Order At: Big in Japan, Nippon-Yasan,

  • YOU’RE TEARING ME APART, VOLKS! But for real, I’ve been smitten with this Asuka since her sculpt reveal. SO PRETTY. But she is 1) CharaGumin (which means, you know, a pre-painted gk that I’d have to assemble and shade myself) 2) an exclusive to Volks’ webstore and several events (WonFest, CharaHobby, JUMP Fest) and 3) ..um, I was going to say “very expensive,” but she’s actually only ¥10,000. But one thing is really bothering me, and it’s that her mom apparently mated with a snake. Her spine. What even? Her torso is also waaay too long. I’ve been hyper-critical of figure anatomy for a while now, and it has helped our low-buy dramatically. And also made me realize that either sculptors have never seen a real woman, or women in Japan are all part animal. [via Volks]

  • You may have noticed some radio silence from Plastikitty over the weekend–that is because we were in a forest where no internet could reach us. It was a nice break, but of course we came back to some news to catch up on! First and foremost (and, okay, kind of only), are a bunch of new RAHs that Medicom has just shown off. As you can see in the header, they are (surprise!) expanding their Kill la Kill line to include (of course) Satsuki and, more surprisingly, uniform Ryuuko! We are also getting a school uniform Homura with her braids, new Daft Punk RAHs, and Eva Unit-13. Cause, you know, there just weren’t enough Evangelion RAHs already! [via Hobbylog]

  • Aizu Project, WHY? They are one of the very few companies I don’t own any figures of, owing to their crazy-high prices (like, buy-a-Dollfie-head prices), and so far I have been able to resist the temptation. But now.. they go and do this. Asuka is, hands down, my favorite anime character. And I can never have enough figures of her. Especially when they are this friggin pretty. But the pricetag… sob. Crying forever. There are just so many other things I could buy with ¥17,800… but I want THIS one. [via moeyo]

  • Recently I’ve found myself a bit out of touch with the PVC world. Prices have risen so high that I have put off ordering any new figures for two months (possibly three, I can’t even remember!) and every time I see a new figure I just wonder what the pricetag will be. It’s been a while since I have seen a figure that made me go “I don’t even care what this costs give it to me RIGHT NOW.” As you can probably guess, Asuka has set my heart aflutter (because otherwise that first paragraph would have been really pointless). I have been in love since the moment I saw the sculpt, and since this is Alter she looks beyond perfect painted. Her snarky face, the cat hat, her butt. I CAN’T. She goes up for order on April 2nd and you bet your ass I am gonna be first in line no matter how high her pricetag. [via Alter’s Blog]

  • To me, there is no such thing as “too many Asuka figures.” How is that even possible? It’s like saying there are too many ice cream flavors. The more variety the better, and my Asuka army is ever growing. There weren’t that many figures of her at WonFest, but we did get Alter’s take and then this beauty–which is a bit of a curse given that it’s Volks. And, you know… Volks stopped making PVC. That’s right, this lovely sculpt is a CharaGumin. WHY VOLKS? Whyyyyy? Now I’m going to have to spend and arm and a leg and get someone to paint this for me because I can’t not own it. Oh, and there’s going to be a matching Mari. Sigh, eating ramen every night to afford figures, here we come. [via Animate]

  • Guys, I’m gonna be honest here. It’s 2:30 in the morning and I have been doing Wonder Festival coverage for literally 7 hours straight. In that time, I have gotten up once. Once. I am very, very tired. So let’s keep it short and sweet! Alter. Asuka. We knew it’d be good from the sculpt, and oh man. Dat. Butt. [via Akibahobby]

  • [note: Eva 3.0 spoilers abound below] So, what was your favorite part of Evangelion 3.0? When Asuka & Misato hated Shinji for no reason that was never explained? The magical, also never explained immortality of the kids? Mari being smug? The fact that the Angels are like… gone for no reason and now there are even stupider monsters? No. I bet it was the romance. Between Shinji and Kaworu, I mean. The piano scene, have you ever seen anything so tender? So of course, a company needed to immortalize their love… and Vertex is here to do the job! I’m kind of speechless. It’s perfect. [via 2chan]
