  • For a few years now I have bemoaning the downfall of festival exclusives. It seems like companies never have anything big and fancy. Well, GSC is making me eat my words for this Summer Wonder Festival because they pulled out ALL the stops. First off, finally the return of scaled figures! And what an unexpected one. Max Factory is re-releasing their famous (and rare) Kasumi in 1/20 scale in the PLAMAX line. She’ll retail for ¥3,000. Kaiyodo will also have a new Wonda-chan for ¥9,800. We have quite a few Nendoroids. There’s the updated Reimu from Touhou Project (¥5,000) and a set of Asuna & Kirito O.S Versions (¥5,500 for the set). Sadly, these will not be available online and are only at Wonder Festival, Anime Expo, Japan Expo, CCG Expo, Shanghai ChinaJoy, and 2017 18th Comic Exhibition. Everything else will be available online right after the event, which is July 30th. As for regular Nendoroids, there’s a super cute Yuri Katsuki who will get a matching Vincent. Then we have the Nendoroid More Dress Up Wedding Elegant Version (what a mouthful) and the penguin face case which I really need in my life. Last, but not least, is WATER GUN SABER FIGMA. Amazing. Perfect. Wonderful. ¥5,500. For the first time in a while, I want the vast majority of these! [via whl4u]

  • Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen. So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

  • After a few rather lackluster months, the Hobby Japan scans are back on track! We have a pretty action-packed lineup for you this time around, with almost twice as many figures as we’ve been seeing the past few months. Though let’s start up with a bit of bad news: there’s rumors from these scans that figma Strength has been cancelled! Only rumors, but anyway, let’s get onto the good. We’ve got lots of ladies for you, and finally the return of Good Smile Company & co in the scaled figure section. I don’t know why they went missing for so long but oh well, they’re back now with some shiny goodies. We’ve also got not one but TWO devils from the Seven Sins lineup, which is awesome because for the past few months it’s been nothing but art. So without any more delays, hit the jump and let’s get right to the good stuff!

  • Welcome to the last PVC Pre-Order Roundup of 2011! This is probably going to be the last interesting roundup for a while too, as most of the Japanese companies are on vacation until at least January 6th (with Orchid Seed taking a break until the 10th!). Of course here at Plastikitty we’ll still be posting news! This was clearly the week of Touhou–as if in a rush to get out a bunch of pre-orders before the end of the year, Griffon went and put up 3 new Touhou girls, Kotobukiya re-released two of theirs, and we got another new Reimu as well! That gives us three Reimus in total, and 6 Touhou girls, which is odd because we’re usually lucky to get one or two a week! Another trend was swimsuit girls, with 5 figures this week who are ready to hit the beach. It was also a pretty slow week, so we ended up with only 5 figures that weren’t Touhou- or swimsuit-related! Hit the jump to check them all out.

  • Penguin Parade’s Petanko line pretty much sells just because the figures in it are ridiculously adorable. It’s a nicely simple concept: chibified versions of popular characters, all in the same pose, and for a very cheap price. So far we’ve seen Kirino and Kuroneko, who actually just got released, and Kuroko and Mikoto have gone up for order. A few more are planned, including Millhiore from Dog Days, characters from Nichijou, and apparently Reimu and Marisa! There’s never been an official announcement for these two, yet here they are! I’m surprised they are working on these before the rest of the announced girls in the line, but they look so freaking cute I doubt anyone will complain. [via OGT-AP]

  • While Griffon’s Touhou Project line gets a lot of love from the community, their POP line tends to get a lot of hate for some reason. Probably because none of them are as good as Alter’s POP Alice, but let’s face it, very few figures are as good as that! Personally I really like it, and I have their POP Remilia and love it. I was excited when she was announced, and I thought she looked great at Treasure Festa. They’ve shown off some preview images of her, and while she still doesn’t look 100% like the art I’m pretty pleased with the end result. It has that nice, chibified feel of the art while having a little more depth to the sculpt. She should be going up for order soon, along with Hina Kagiyama! You know, I can’t recall a time when Griffon has put up so many Touhou figures in a row. They must have more planned, because they are quickly running through their backlog of sculpts! • This week was an odd but interesting one for figure-orders. For the first half, we had literally nothing but NSFW figures and re-releases go up for order, which is unusual to say the least! Usually we get one or 2 NSFW figures per a roundup, but this week 4 went up within a few days of each other. Then we got spammed with surprise re-releases, one of which I really didn’t expect! As the week went on we got some “normal” additions to the pre-order lineup, like a… very busty beach queen? Followed up by two figures who were both re-releases AND NSFW! What is this, boob week? Then, to round off the week, we got MORE RE-RELEASES. Thankfully, Kotobukiya must have seen what an odd week it was because they offered up some sexy boys. Funnily enough, it ended up not being the week of boobs or the week of re-releases, but the week of Griffon! Out of the 18 figures that went up for order, a whopping 7 of them were from Griffon. So what did we get this week? Hit the jump and find out!

  • Once again, our loot is two months late! I was thinking back about our July and June posts, though, and it doesn’t seem so bad. We didn’t even get payment requests for our August orders until mid-September, and it takes a while to receive everything and then organize it all. If you order only 1 one 2 figures a month you’ll get them right on time, but the bigger the order the longer the delay. Anyway, back on topic! August was our biggest month ever for figure orders, as we ended up with both of our AmiAmi orders and a flood of exclusives that all seemed to come out at once. It’s probably going to be our biggest month ever (or at least for quite some time), as Stephen and I have started trimming down our orders quite a bit.

  • Griffon is probably best known for their Touhou lineup, so it’s no surprise that they announce 2 or 3 new ones every month or so. However, I don’t think they’ve ever announced this many at once! The new images from Reisaitai shown NINE figures, seven of which are new. Craziness! First we have a new, badass version of Remilia which is already sculpted, and a POP version of Reimu. The outlines are of Shou Toramaru, Melancholy Medicine, Cirno, Nazrin, Lorelei Mystia, Byakuren Hijiri, and Hina Kagiyama. We already knew about POP Reimu and Byakuren, but now we have some clearer images. It will be interesting to see how these turn out, as Griffon’s Touhou line is kind of hit-or-miss for me. I’m hoping that Cirno ends up looking badass, because my collection is sorely missing a scaled figure of this cutie! [via Figure/GK]
