Resident Evil Archive

  • I must admit that there was one reveal I was really hoping for from Kotobukiya this convention: a Bishoujo Pinhead art reveal! Sadly, it was not to be. They did have her info card out, and I feel like we might be getting a Halloween reveal for the design. At least, I hope–it’d be the perfect end cap to Spooktober. They did have quite a few game and movie Bishoujos, like the gorgeous new Cammy and Decapre, along with the art for Ash Williams. But it wasn’t all Bishoujos–ArtFX Jason was also out and about, along with Freddy’s announcement. I can’t wait to see them together (and displayed with the Freddy & Jason Bishoujos, how cute would that be?). There was also a Resident Evil statue announcement, and I’m really hoping we get a Bishoujo companion to that.

  • Recently Good Smile has been putting out a lot more video game-centric figures, especially ones aimed at the US market. They had two on display at NYCC: Chris Redfield from Biohazard (Resident Evil in the US), and Rockman X (Mega Man X in the US). What’s up with all the different names? Truly a mystery. With figures like this and the upcoming Nathan Drake Nendoroid, I’m really excited to see what else they have in line for us. Tomb Raider, maybe? What video game characters would you like to see in Nendo form?

  • Well, we’ve already shown you a lot of new Play Arts Kai announcements from Square-Enix ranging from the new DC Universe line to Final Fantasy VII Advent Children pieces and Street Fighter characters as well, but there were a lot of other Play Arts Kai tossed in the mix too. The Halo 4 Play Arts Kai were on display in full force and ready for action, but there were also lots of prototypes too. Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper from Resident Evil 6 were on hand along with Tom “Preacher” from Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Isaac Clarke from Dead Space 3. Major Henry Varro from Starship Troopers Invasion was also on hand, but the coolest new figure had to be Zetman, who was just simply stunning. There were also a few chibi Final Fantasy figures on display, so be sure to check it all out in the gallery.

  • Square-Enix always brings a whole ton of figures and other nick nacks to conventions and New York Comic Con was no different. We’ve already shown you seven different sets of Play Arts figures from Final Fantasy to Mass Effect with a little of everything in between including Cowboy Bebop, but that’s not all that was on hand. Dante and Vergil from the Devil May Cry series were there yet again and also on sale a few weeks early this time around. Lupo from the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City game made an appearance and will be available in January of next year, which I’m quite surprised about as it seems like the game itself didn’t fare all too well. Riku and Sora were also on hand once again in their Tron: Legacy outfits from Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance and are looking a little more refined here (despite being unpainted still, unlike the versions we saw at Tokyo Game Show) along with their vast array of keyblades that they will come with. Last, but certainly not least, is the relatively recent announcement of the hero from Starship Troopers: Invasion who looks pretty interesting and unique and even has a bit of a ThreeA feel to him. Plushes and other fare were also par for the course at their booth and were yet again a fan favorite, so head on over to the gallery and check out everything they had on hand!
