Rider Archive

  • Before I get to the actual info, I have to get something out of my system: DAMN YOU, MEGAHOUSE. THIS IS NOT THE RIDER I WANT. *ahem* MegaHouse has  figure at MegaHobby that is strictly Do Not Photograph, but the news has already leaked: they are doing a 1/8 scale Rider… from Fate/Zero. Yeah, the big redheaded guy, probably to go with Alter’s Waver. Of all the Servant/Master combos in Zero was this REALLY the one they had to go with? I’m sure this is great news for fans, but I’m just bitter that we have no modern figures of the actual Rider from F/SN. [via beyyang128’s Twitter]

  • The Fate/Stay Night franchise has a ton of characters, but it always seems like only a handful get figures. Saber and Rin in particular are wildly popular, but of course they’re not the only characters in the series! Good Smile Company is making a set based on the cast of Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, and it includes a ton of people: Caren Ortensia, Illyasviel von Einzbern, Bazett Fraga McRemitz, Taiga Fujimura, Leysritt, and Stetho. There are also the “main” (aka most popular) girls in maid gear: Saber Alter, Rin Tohsaka, Sakura Matou and Rider. A single blind box should run you ¥500, though of course you can get a case that will contain all of the figures. There’s also a secret! Orders open the 10th. [via Mikatan]

  • Banpresto sure loves Fate/Stay Night and all of its variations, as shown by their massive lineup of prize figures from the series. It’s getting not one but two Ichiban Kuji lines: one for Fate/Zero that has petit figures of many of the characters, including the boys! That’s right, finally a Gilgamesh, along with Caster, Lancer, and several others including a few ladies. Then there’s the Type-Moon Ichiban Kuji line, which has several chibi figures of their many female characters and two stunning larger figures: Saber Lily in her shorter dress and Aoko Aozaki from Mahou Tsukai no Yoru. Both of these are lovely, but Saber Lily has totally stolen my heart! Of course they had some non-Ichiban Kuji figures as well, like the rather boring Fate/Zero line. I still think these figures look lackluster, especially next to the awesome sculpts of the Ichiban Kuji line, but it’s still nice to see any version of Iri! [via Akibahobby]

  • This week had a flurry of toy news. Between coverage of the Mokei Hobby Show and the flood of NYCC news, as well as our preparation for event coverage, I must admit that the new release of the week got a bit lost! I went back over it all last night and realized that there were a surprising number of wonderful figures that I’d totally let slip under my radar. There were the usual duds, like Beat’s bizarre new offering, but for the most part the offerings were pretty excellent!
