Rin Hoshizora Archive

  • Once again, Alter’s event booth is totally dominated by idol girls (and some idol boys!). Oddly enough, I kind of hate watching all those shows but I passionately love the figures. Who knows with these things. And oh boy is this a good year for idol-loving peeps. Their stunning Ranko is painted, along with Sachiko. We’ve got the world’s freaking cutest Anzu Futaba and a sassy as hell Shiki Ichinose. As for Love Live!, there are new figures of Rin Hoshizora and Hanayo Koizumi. For the boys, we have Ai Mikaze and Ranmaru Kurosaki from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ painted and Camus is sculpted. The much-anticipated Okoi from Oboro Muramasa is here, and we have an announcement for Torahime! There was a surprise sculpt for SAO‘s Sinon, the casual Lancer sculpt, Ikumi Mito it painted, and we’ve got a very suggestive maid Lala. Oh, and Santa Alter Saber is on display too! It’s so weird and over the top but I love Christmas figures. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • One of Good Smile Company’s Wonder Festival reveals was a Petit Nendoroid set of the Love Live girls. I was pretty excited for them: I love the design of the LL cast, but so far the Nendoroid sets (both the original and casual) have done pretty much nothing for me. But these ones? Ridiculous name aside (angelic angel, so redundant), I adore the outfits they picked here! The set contains all 9 of the girls, and for Petits the sculpts look quite intricate: the hair in particular is great! As per usual, there are exclusive bonuses: the GSC shop is offering cute bases for all of them, as is Circle K Sunkus. And if you buy a full set from any location, you get a special base & background to set them all up! Orders open tonight. [via Kahotan]

  • Companies seem to be on the warpath with Love Live this week! First we had seven figure announcements from Alter, and now Good Smile is topping that with a whopping nine Nendoroids. Yes, that’s pretty much the whole cast. And yes, they already made Nendos of the whole cast… but these are in cute casual outfits! I’ll be honest, I really disliked the first set: the outfits read very circus-y to me, and had no appeal even though I do like a lot of the character designs. So while GSC might be milking this franchise, I am so happy! Because I want all of them. [via Kahotan]

  • Love Live, the inexplicably successful IDOLM@STER clone, has been taking the figure world by storm. It seems like every company has plans to make at least one of the girls, and of course there are a million Nendoroids and figmas to go with them. But by far the best line has been Alter’s, which is really no surprise: their Kotori was a work of (cute) art. Today we’ll be taking a look at Rin Hoshizora, a figure I have a love/hate relationship with. I love her hair, face, outfit and pose. I hate the color scheme (yellow and black with green accents, really?) and the pantaloons. Orders open on the 25th, so I have until then to make up my mind! [via Alter’s Blog]

  • Alter has a habit of disappointing me at Wonder Festivals, but it seems like they might be turning it around this year because I am loving most of the figures they brought! Which, of course, were numerous. We’ll start with painted figures: the gorgeous Chitoge Kirisaki is painted, along with Rin Hoshizora, Shinobu & the devil-version of Sen Tokugawa. Also, the amazing Tamako Market dual-figure is painted as well! There are a ton of sculpts including a surprise figure of Plamya-san, swimsuit Lorna, the Strike Witches we just found out about, and Haruna from Ars Nova (who is not painted yet, whyy). We also have two announcements: they’ll be doing yet another Saber Alter and also Niko Yazawa from Love Live. Velvet also made an appearance, though there only seem to be some small sculpting refinements. [UPDATE] Added their Yuuki Yuuna, Gotou Matabei, Swimsuit Lala, and more! Check them all out in the gallery! [via HLJ’s Tumblr]

  • Usually, I find myself disappointed by Alter’s WonFest offerings. They tend to save most stuff for MegaHobby but man did they bring out the goods for this event! Let’s dive right in with the Hyakka girls: we’ve got the more finished sculpt of the new Senhime we just found out about, a fantastic butt shot of their second version of Gotou, and Inshun Houzouin is painted. I will admit, Alter surprised me again: I love her! Let’s move on to no Samurai-boobie girls. Asbel Lhant from Tales of Graces is being added to the Altair line. Their Shinobu is sculpted, Memfera has a coat of paint, Yuuki Mikan is also painted (though nothing will be better than Memfera come home to me my love), and then there’s the cutest figure OF ALL TIME, Anko Kitashirakawa. In the header. LOOOOK AT HERRR. Okay, let’s move on to announcements. We’ve got three Love Live! girls: Maki Nishikino (swimsuit), Kotori Minami, & Rin Hoshizora. They will also be doing a figure of Purple Heart to go with their Black Heart, and Chitoge Kirisaki is also joining Alter’s cadre of cute girls. Lastly, Rin Matsuoka is the next Free! boy they are working on! [UPDATE] Added painted shots of their new Fate! [via weibo, highrunder, twimg]

  • Considering that Good Smile Project is already working on scaled figures of the girls from Love Live! School Idol Project, it probably comes as no surprise that they will be added to the Nendoroid lineup as well. However, the sheer number of girls they’ve selected is a bit of a shock: prepare your wallets, Love Live fans, because nine have already been picked! We’ve got Honoka Kousaka, Kotori Minami, Niko Yazawa, Hanayo Koizumi, Nozomi Toujou, Umi Sonoda, Maki Nishikino, Rin Hoshizora, and Eri Ayase. Phew! That is a LOT of girls. I wonder how long it will take for the whole line to get sculpted? [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • Love Live! School Idol Project is like the awkwardly named younger sibling of IDOLM@STER: cute young girls in implausibly perfect stage outfits prance around and sing while vying for attention. It hasn’t gotten nearly as much attention as IDOLM@S: in fact basically we’ve had one figure so far, a single announcement from GSC that they have yet to follow up on. Oh, and Beach Queens… but do those even count anymore? Every property gets them. But fear not, people with lots of money and shading skills! Volks is taking on Nozomi Toujou, Rin Hoshizora, and Umi Sonada in the CharaGumin line. The outfits they’ve chosen are cute but I don’t have my hopes up since, well, I can’t paint. [via Hobbylog]
