@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

FREEing’s adorable Fate/Stay Night Yukata line, which has previously included Saber and Illya, is adding a new girl to the lineup–Saber Alter! I really love Alter, and this figure fits her personality to a tee. I wonder how they’re going to do the sparkler effect?
Oh, that’s not all of course! This is really a preview of Yukata Rin, who looks gorgeous and really true to character. She went up this week, so look for her in our weekly PVC roundup!

Back at Type-Moon Fest, Good Smile Company showed off a line of Petit Nendoroids featuring the company’s greatest and most popular heroines. Well, it’s taken a bit longer than most Petit sets, but finally they’re all painted and ready for orders! We’ve got Saber Zero, Saber Lily, regular Saber, Rin Tohsaka, Irisviel, Arcueid, Phantasmoon Eclipse, Alice Kunoji, Ciel, and Aoko Aozaki: Phantasmoon is my clear favorite, though I am really liking Arcueid and the little Saber Zero. So cute! These should go up for order on the 19th.

The Fate/Stay Night girls are very popular, but we usually only see the “main two” (Saber and Rin) and always in their standard outfits. Well, time for something different! FREEing is doing a summer festival set of Saber, Rin, Sakura and Illya in gorgeous yukatas. Saber and Illya are already painted, while Rin is sculpted and Sakura still in art-form. This looks to be a lovely set, and I hope FREEing goes through and completes it unlike some other things… *cough*1/4 Freezing*cough*

Remember those cute little Petit Nendoroids of Saber Lily and Saber Zero that Good Smile Company showed off back in April? Well, they’re part of a set–a collaboration with Type-Moon that covers a ton of their most popular heroines. We’ve got Saber Zero, Saber Lily, regular Saber, Rin Tohsaka, Irisviel, Arcueid, Phantasmoon Eclipse, Alice Kunoji, Ciel, and Aoko Aozaki (who is also getting a full Nendoroid). There’s a nice mix here, though notably no male characters… maybe we’ll get an all-boys set next if we dream hard enough?

Back in March, Banpresto announced that they would be doing some Type-Moon Ichiban Kuji figures and the main prizes would be Saber Lily in her short dress and Aoko Aozaki from Mahou Tsukai no Yoru. The base sculpts looked great, and it was nice to see a different take on Lily. However, the final products are… not as expected. The dresses look fantastic, especially if you like clear PVC, but the faces… dear god the faces. They are so bad! And Ichiban Kuji figures usually have really nice faces too.
Regardless of what went wrong here, these are going to be hard to get if you’re dead-set on owning them. However, there are some less rare and less derpy prizes too: an awesome pillow, fancy glasses, tiny keychains and some cute chibis. I really want that Rin!

The Fate/Stay Night franchise has a ton of characters, but it always seems like only a handful get figures. Saber and Rin in particular are wildly popular, but of course they’re not the only characters in the series! Good Smile Company is making a set based on the cast of Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, and it includes a ton of people: Caren Ortensia, Illyasviel von Einzbern, Bazett Fraga McRemitz, Taiga Fujimura, Leysritt, and Stetho. There are also the “main” (aka most popular) girls in maid gear: Saber Alter, Rin Tohsaka, Sakura Matou and Rider.
A single blind box should run you ¥500, though of course you can get a case that will contain all of the figures. There’s also a secret! Orders open the 10th.

A few years ago, it was nearly impossible to find a realistic butt on a figure. They were all terribly busty girls with no thighs, hips or butts. Now it seems the tides have turned, and the figure-world is all about giving their ladies a little junk in their trunk. In fact, there’s a huge rise in the amount of realistically-built women out there, which I think says a lot about the market–we don’t want skinny girls with melon boobs! So, in honor of the rise of the buttocks, we’re here to celebrate the best (and also the most disappointing) behinds of 2011.

Prize figures have been getting better and better recently, so much so that they are easily worth triple their value. Sega and Banpresto in particular have really started to shine, and the Ichiban Kuji line is as high-quality as most standard 1/8 scale figures. So when I saw Banpresto’s new Fate/Zero line, I was taken aback. I mean, these look… cheap, like prize figures from 10 years ago. The sculpting is stiff and awkward on Saber Zero and Irisviel, and the mini-figures of Saber, Rin and Iri are painted so painfully flat.
Considering that these are part of the same line that contains the magnificent Banpresto Saber, I kind of wonder what is going on in their offices. I mean, the sculpting on her is lovely and the face is quite accurate. But the rest of them are so painfully bland! They are, however, standard releases, and they shouldn’t be overly hard to obtain. They’re set for a May release, so pre-orders should be opening soon if you really feel like cluttering your shelves with uninspired figures.

So, every once in a while Mikatan’s blog messes up and posts something early. The posts aren’t done on a day-to-day basis as we’re lead to believe, but stockpiled and put up every night. So sometimes, things go wrong, and we get to see figures like… 12 hours early! It’s thrilling!
That’s exactly what happened with the new Cheerful Japan figures. They are, surprisingly, brand-new! It’s Saber and Rin from Fate/Stay Night in cute cheer outfits. Unlike the Steins;Gate set, these are entirely new head-sculpts. Saber now has a long, elegant braid and Rin… well, this is the first time we’ve seen a real Rin Nendoroid! It seems like these are probably not all of the pictures we’ll be getting, as we can only see one expression for each of them and only one accessory (color-coordinated pom poms). You can check out their original page here, but it’s totally blank!
We do, however, have ordering info on these cuties. Orders start the 11th and end the 28th, and like all of the Cheerful Japan stuff they’re a GSC exclusive and shipping will be 2k no matter how you buy. You should be able to get up to 5 in one order too! No price is known yet, but it’s safe to say that it will be ¥6,000 like the other Nendo set, with a release in late Spring.
[UPDATE] The last two pictures have finally appeared–Saber & Rin come with a cute banner and really awesome alternate faces! They look a lot like the faces from the old Hetare Nendos, only updated and a bit more refined. As we assumed, the set is ¥6,000 and will be released in May.
