Ruroni Kenshin Archive

  • As usual, Max Factory had a small but excellently sculpted bundle of figures for Wonder Festival. We’ve seen the Mikus (my favorite from them), but there’s lots more like… Rurouni Kenshin? So many surprise boys at this event! The Eriri and Megumi from Saenai Heroine are finally sculpted, as is Ai-chan from Tawawa on Monday whose breasts seem to be escaping from her shirt, poor dear. Their Marie Rose is finally painted and… I no longer want her? Just a garish color combo. In other fighting game news, they are doing a Renewal version of their infamous Kasumi. Morrigan when?! Iowa is also painted, along with the tiny Kemono Friends figures. For announcements, we have Jeanne d’Arc Alter dress version, whose art is just stunning. [via whl4u]

  • And so we continue on in the tradition of having our loot posts 2 months late! It’s usually because we unbox figures before we remember to actually take pictures of them, but this time it happened a little differently. We actually just got our main January haul on Wednesday! Due to a mix-up with a March figure that was mysteriously stuck in our Jan order, we didn’t even get the payment request until the end of February. In terms of both money and numbers I think this is our biggest haul ever, dwarfing even the massive August loot! We’ve really been trying to cut back, so I blame the manufacturers for making too many awesome figures.

  • Welcome to the first PVC Pre-Order Roundup of 2012! You’d think that companies would want to start out with a bang, but 2012 started off a little slowly. We had no figures last week, and this week there were not a lot of big-deal figures. In fact, it seems like companies had batches of smaller figures saved up for the slow start! Though a lot of companies did put out figures this week, and we got a few figures that people have been looking forward to like Kamineko and Alter’s Momo, my favorite offering was from a rather surprising company–Wave! So hit the jump and let’s get started!

  • MegaHouse’s GEM line is pretty much the leading force in male figures, considering how hard the POPs are to get and how damn slow Altair is. They showed off 4 of their newer additions at Jump Festa, 3 of which we already knew about. We got to see Gintama‘s Kamui, Tiger & Bunny‘s Kaburagi T. Kotetsu and Makoto Shishio from Ruroni Kenshin is now painted! The new figure is Rin Okumura from Aoi no Exorcist and his cute kitty Kuro! While the guy isn’t that interesting in terms of design, oh my goodness do I like the cat! The sculpts on all of these male figures seem like they will live up to the standard of the line, and hopefully we’ll see them up for order in the near future. [via Hobbystock]

  • Tamashii Nation, the event where Bandai shows off just how many figures they can make in a year, was held earlier this week. We brought you coverage of several pieces that were there: D-Arts Konohana Sakuya & Thanatos, the Chibi-Arts line, the Armor Girl Project, and Figuarts Zero from Code Geass and Macross Frontier. But of course there was more on display–a lot more! Bandai showed off goods from all the shows you would expect: One Piece, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Bleach, Ruroni Kenshin, Dragonball Z. But there were also some surprise additions to the Figuarts Zero line like the heroine from Rine no Lagrange and two of the girls from Senran Kagura. Check them all out in the gallery! • This week was a good, balanced one for figures. Not too many re-releases or NSFW figures, a handful of figures that were highly anticipated, and some lovely surprises as well. There were also (surprisingly) no horrifyingly bad figures–in fact, this week was really low on flops! There were some re-release choices I don’t agree with, but overall a very solid selection. I ended up ordering perhaps more than I should, and March is filling up quickly. So let’s hit the jump and get started!
