Saber Bride Archive

  • Are the AlphaMax, Good Smile, and Clayz Saber Brides not enough for you? Need more bondage bride in and around your life? Well don’t despair, there are more on the way! Probably a lot of unannounced stuff too, but right now we’re talking about something I hoped and dreamed for: a PVC version of the Sakura Zensen garage kit! I know the sculpt has obvious issues (gravity defying boobs & turret spine) but I am so in love with her floating pose and gorgeous colors & details that I am actually going to put aside nitpicking for once. Apparently Medicom is going to be the manufacturer, and even though she is on the small side (9″ tall, apparently even with the base!) I am scared of the pricing. [via AmiAmi’s Blog]

  • We’ve seen some Fate/Stay Night goodies already, like Sakura Saber, Koto’s Swimsuit Saber, and Good Smile’s brand new Saber Bride. But there’s more! Always more. We have for you two Nendoroid announcements: Archer and Rider! Along with lots of other stuff from GSC & co. GSC is doing BB from Fate/Extra (the girl to the far left who looks just like Sakura) and behind her is a fully armored Mordred. Fancy! Then there’s Phat! Company’s Jack the Ripper, who is finally painted, along with their second Illya. There’s also a lovely Saber in a dress by Wing. And we do have one non-GSC figure… an Archer from Alter! [UPDATE] Added Aquamarine’s Saber of the Red! [via whl4u & Figure/gk]

  • Well, this was fast! Good Smile literally just put their Saber Extra up for order, so I was not expecting another Saber for a while. I mean, maybe one from Max Factory or Wing, but not a GSC Saber! Yet here we are with Saber Bride. I’m excited that they are taking her on, less excited that her top is unzipped and that her pose is a bit close to Triumphant Excalibur. [via Figure/GK]

  • Clayz always seems to be one step ahead of the pack when it comes to Saber designs. They put out a Saber Extra years before Good Smile and Kotobukiya started working on theirs, and now they are breaking into Saber Bride–which, so far, has only been covered by AlphaMax. Oh, and Gift, but who knows when that will get released. I was excited when we found out about this because I am a huge Takeshi Miyagawa fan, but even I have to admit that the expression they went for was a little odd. She looks so grumpy. And her spine, ouch! At least they didn’t skimp at all on the butt window. But since this is a 1/6 scale figure, she isn’t going to be cheap–this bride will cost you ¥12,000. [via moeyo]

  • Alphamax’s original Saber Bride was kind of a contentious figure: her face is undoubtedly gorgeous, and they were very true to the source material, but she’s certainly a lot more revealing than what the average Saber collector is used to. However, Bride is pretty much “fanservice mode” Saber, so I guess it’s kind of to be expected! Surprisingly (or perhaps not, based on the people I’m guessing bought her for the unzipped suit alone), Alphamax will be giving us a second version at Wonder Festival! What is it, you ask? Perhaps her suit zipped up? An alternate colorway? Well at the moment it looks like… she has a different base! With chains on it! Wow. Shocking. What the hell, Alphamax? Nobody wants that. • Ahh, Clayz. I both hate you and love you. Hate because they 1) have terrible quality control 2) are ridiculously overpriced and 3) only seem to come out with figures I don’t care about. So where is the love? Well, they tend to work with Takeshi Miyagawa, one of my favorite sculptors, and every once in a while they pop out a real gem that I am forced to shell out a huge chunk of change for. And I feel like this might be one of those times. While figures of Saber Extra seem to be on the rise, Saber Bride is still relatively underrepresented. There’s the AlphaMax version, but she’s a bit too NSFW for many collectors, and of course the Toda Satoshi one that has been in production forever. But the more I look at that one the less I like it: what is up with the sword physics?! This sculpt though, I totally love. Her stance looks strong and in control, and the focus isn’t on the T&A. Plus, that skirt swirl! Now to wait for paint and the price announcement. She is 1/6, so it is going to be… a lot. Are you worth it, Saber Bride? [via Clayz]

  • It’s a nice day for a white wedding… There are a lot of Saber figures out there, so many that at some point they start to blur together into a mass of blonde ahoge’d plastic. But this one, for me at least, has stood head and shoulders above the masses. AlphaMax took a risky move by doing a version of Saber Bride that went back to the series’ eroge roots, bringing us a sultry and more grown-up Nero than what we have seen from other companies. It’s certainly a love-it-or-hate-it sort of figure, but a whole lot of Saber fans are very happy at this turn of events. And if you were on the fence because the original promo images didn’t show us the butt window, look no further! It’s all in the gallery. [via moeyo]

  • Merry Christmas Eve, Plastikitties! Of course magazine scans decided to drop on one of the busiest days of the year–usually we get them on the 21st or 22nd, but this year Japan decided “hey, let’s wait until those crazy Americans are actually doing something!” So this month we are keeping it short and sweet. This is an action packed bunch of scans: MegaHouse has their Dragon’s Crown Sorceress sculpted, release info for their Amazon, and more IDOLM@STER goodies (of course). AlphaMax has a surprise sculpt of Saber Bride that looks amazing! Hyakka Ryouran has a ton of figures in these scans: Inshun Houzouin from Alter, Mataemon Araki from Kaitendoh, and a painted Naoe from New Line. Clayz is bringing a Takeshi Miyagawi Ymir sculpt to PVC (FINALLY!), and MegaHouse’s new Liliana is painted. Amakuni is redoing their Noel (again), this time with a tweaked sculpt, and their Shimakaze is done too. The Seven Sins Satan is… still just a sculpt, and the second Asmodeus is here in more detail. We’ve also got a repaint of Koto’s Kobato, which I am honestly not feeling at all. On the Tony Taka front, swimsuit Nellis is sculpted and looking amazing, and the AlphaMax Viola is painted (and I’m in love!). We’ve got lots of Nendos and the Snow Miku figma, Fairy Tail’s Erza Scarlet, and FREEing has their yukata Tamaki and Inori painted. And last but not least, Alter’s Hayate and Max Factory’s Cerberus make appearances. Phew, that’s a lot of stuff! Check them all out in the gallery. [via Figure/GK]

  • Of the many Saber variations, Saber Bride might be the strangest (though at the moment, Sakura Saber is fighting for that spot). She’s a form of Extra, so she’s not even the same character as the original Saber, but the main question is: who is she getting married to, and why is she getting married in weird bondage/fetish gear? With a sword? What kind of wedding is this even? But it’s Saber, and Saber sells no matter what. In fact I’m rather fond of this version since it’s so delightfully weird. It was no surprise when we got the Nendoroid announcement, and since she’s been painted for some time now the full reveal was bound to happen sooner or later. Good Smile really went all out with Saber Bride: the detail is pretty awesome, on everything from her sword to her crown of flowers to the burnt edges of her veil. Pretty impressive for something so tiny! And she actually comes with some decent faces: not happy, happy, and…. incredibly, adorably derpy, with a music note ahoge to match. Too cute! Orders open on December 5th, and I can’t help but wonder what Saber they’re gonna Nendoroid-ize next… they’re running out of options. [via Kahotan’s Blog]

  • It’s been a while since we had a Nico Nico broadcast from Good Smile Company & co with anything worth writing up, mainly since they seem to be doing all their new announcements at random events, on Kahotan’s blog, or on Twitter. But there are quite a few goodies today–nothing brand new, but a whole lot of updates! Only one thing on the scaled figure front, so we’ll get that out of the way first: Racing Miku 2013 is painted, and I’m liking her a lot more now! It’s the little crown. So cute! Then there’s a whole lot of Nendoroid news. Saber Bride is painted and… well, she was before, but here she is again! We get to see some of Winter Clothing Version Isabelle, who comes with awesome effect parts. Then there’s Akari Taiyou and her alternate hair (which might as well be its own figure) from Genei o Kakeru Taiyou, along with the adorable Akagi from Kantai Collection. The table, I need it! Oh, and figma Miho Nishizumi and Yukari Akiyama are here too *yawn* [via mfc]
