It’s like Sailor Moon: the ten-year-old girl in me just goes apeshit. I tried really hard to temper my expectations for GSC’s Sakura after we saw the sculpt: I mean, it was a thing of beauty, but it’s important to not get too excited! And sadly it seemed like I was right when we saw her painted… but maybe it was the event lighting?

I’m so torn about this figure. I think Sakura herself looks amazing: the sculpt is so crisp and the colors perfectly bright. I mean, just look at the floofy skirt! Perfection! But I really dislike the base. It looks kind of cheap to me, too much perfectly clear PVC and it’s just a lil too elaborate (my problem with MF Sheryl as well). It’s hard to focus on Sakura! And she’s going to cost like $300 so it’s not something I want to compromise on. Thankfully, there will be a standard version that’s just the figure! Of course at ¥12k it still costs and arm and a leg but I greatly prefer the simplicity of that one.

[via Kahotan]

Boy do we have a lot of Sakura-related news for you today, phew. So let’s get right on it! Kotobukiya’s first Sakura (review) is a figure near and dear to my heart, and while I guess I’d be fine owning one scaled figure of her there’s no such thing as “too much Sakura.”

So of course I’m very excited by their new announcement! They’ll be doing a second figure of her, this time of the white & pink dress. Which, of course, also has wings! Sure, Nendoroids and figmas and figFIX are good and all, but I’m a scaled figure girl at heart. And I was hoping for something spectacular from them, along the lines of Belldandy and Benten.

And boy oh boy did they deliver. They’ve given us a huge, elaborate figure of everyone’s favorite Cardcaptor. Wings and ruffles and crowns, oh my! I don’t even want to think about what her price will be (or if she will be exclusive to the GSC store) because my want right now is so very high. Just look!
