Oh Seraphim Mode Sakuya, let me count the ways I love you. Your long brown hair, your corset top, your angelic wings, the abundant gratuitous use of clear PVC, your wondrous bow, your frills, feathers on the base even though you don’t have feathers in your wings… wait, does your bow have wing feathers? How does that even work?
I don’t even care because I’ve loved you for so long, Seraphim Sakuya. You look even better than the painted teaser. Your only flaw is that you’re not in my house right now.

Kotobukiya’s Seraphim Mode Sakuya has been on my lust list for a long time. I know some people may be tired of her: after all, Kotobukiya has now given us four versions of Tony Taka’s brunette sweetheart! This one, the original, Cerulean Mode, and Crimson Mode. Then of course, there’s Yamato/Arcadia’s take on the character, and the upcoming AlphaMax figure.
But in my mind, none of them really come close to this beauty. Her sculpt is absolutely astonishing, and I was blown away by it. I’ve always loved Koto, but recently they’ve gone from being a good, solid company to jumping to the ranks of Good Smile, Alter and Max Factory. If Olivia and Seraphim Sakuya come out anywhere close to their promo shots, I don’t think anyone will be questioning their validity as a top-tier producer anymore.

Remember a while back when AlphaMax showed off a ton of new art and figures? Well, we’ve got updates on quite a few of them… and some new stuff, too! Since AlphaMax, like Wave, seems unable to just announce one figure at a time. That would just be too simple. First off, the Tony Taka updates: Viola from Shining Ark is sculpted (and gorgeous!), and the ecchi but not totally NSFW art of his has been fully sculpted AND painted!
Then there’s the Kizuki Aruchu art, which is definitely not safe for work, and has also been sculpted. Bet you saw that one coming! Continuing on the “don’t show these figures to your in-laws” train we’ve got art (and a sculpt) for Kotone Kamishiro from Oyakorankan.
[UPDATE] Art for Maria Satome from Sex Life added from Akibahobby

Tony Taka tends to hang on to design elements he likes, reusing them in future games. For example, color palettes he really loves will pop up on a new character. But one girl has taken it to a totally crazy level: she first appeared as Maxima in Shining Hearts, then as Sakuya in Shining Blade, and now as Viola in Shining Ark!
We found out at WonFest that Kotobukiya would be taking her on once again, this time in her angelic outfit which I absolutely adore. There are a lot of lovely figures of Maxima/Sakuya/Viola, like Koto’s Crimson version, but this easily tops them. I mean… the dress! The bow! THE WINGS.

AlphaMax seemed to be a no-show at Wonder Festival, which was surprising since they seem to be really picking up the pace on their production. Did they have no new announcements? No new Tony girls for me?! Why, AlphaMax, whyyyyyy?!?!? Well, seems like my worrying was for nothing because we have a whole bunch of, um… things we’ve already seen for you.
Like all that pretty Tony Taka art, only bigger and cleaner shots of it! Along with their Sorceress, Saber Lily, Asuna, and the Kirino & Kuroneko duo. Oh, and there is one new announcement–they will be doing a figure based on some very NSFW art from Kizuki Aruchu, who illustrated Orchid Seed’s Yuki and Native’s Gamer Girl.

AlphaMax has been creeping up the list of my favorite companies for a while now, and I think they just firmly solidified a spot in the top five with a rather massive announcement of new goodies. There’s a lot here, so we’re just going to dive right in! Some of the ladies from the most recent batch of magazine scans were out on display, including Velvet Batrass (my new figure crush) and Iris Hartley. Then we have a lovely Saber Lily, along with the surprise announcement of Alisa Ilinichina Amiella from God Eater Burst! The PLUM version was nice, but this one is just so much more dynamic.
Then we have the art announcements: several of them are NSFW, but due to some glare you can check them out in the gallery without fear of your boss yelling at you. Actually you probably shouldn’t be reading us at the office at all, get back to work! First on the art front are two original characters, and then we have a bridal version of Nozomi Watase, whose maid version was one of Native’s first figured! I saved the best for last: they’re taking on one of Maxima/Sakuya/now Viola from Shining Ark’s amazing purple scythe getup. I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW.

Dolpa Nagoya 5 is taking place soon, and for once we aren’t getting our info on the new girls from scans! That’s right, no blurry pictures–but as always, beware, Dollfie Dream promotional shots are misleading as hell. They look so much better in person! First up is a re-release of the lovely Sakuya/Maxima from Shining Blade, this time in her Crimson Mode outfit (which Kotobukiya gave us a figure of!). I kind of regretted passing up on her the first time, so I don’t know if I can pass over a twintailed version.
Then we have two more IDOLM@STER girls! First it was Miki and Haruka, and now Yukiho and Chihaya who were actually announced back in March. Both are way prettier than I expected, but like Miki and Haruka I expect they’ll be Japan-only. Which is shame, I’m kind of in love with Yukiho’s face!

Another week, another roundup! What happened to last week’s, you ask? My dog ate it.
You probably don’t know this but I tend to write the intro for these after everything else is done, and am terrified that one day I will forget and one of my stupid placeholder sentences like “some words” or “a few butts” will pop up on the front page instead. But today is not that day! Today is the day I ramble because we have really slim pickings. Sure, there are some nice figures, but it seems like none of the big companies came out to play. No scaled figures from Alter, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, even Phat! or Daiki. But of course there are some nice figures–check them out after the jump!

Kotobukiya didn’t have anything new on display at the Miyazawa Model Exhibition this year, but they did bring along a whole ton of figures that are up for order like Fire Sakuya, Kuroyukihime, Vash the Stampede, the Yotsuba & KOS-MOS kits, the controversial Dark Magician, and Cu-Poches Haruka & Madoka. Even some Bishoujos showed up, like Jaina Solo and Jaycee, so check them all out in the gallery!

Welcome to a week of fabulous flying ladies! We’ve got ladies with mechanical wings, butterfly wings, even feathered wings… on their waist! In fact, we’ve also got not one but two sky-high Nendoroids. Okay, so one rides a carrot and the other has weird feet blade-wings, but there’s still an unusually high number of airborne figures this time around. Of course we’ve got some earthbound ladies as well (and one small guy). Ladies with guns, small ladies with guns, flying ladies with guns… really, it’s a week of flying ladies with guns all around (and some with swords and laces!), many of whom popped up in magazine scans. So hit the jump and check them out!
