  • I am a firm believer in the fact that everything is better if you make it pink. Cats? Better pink. Hummers? Better pink. Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Chun-Li? Better pink! It was a totally out of the blue announcement at SDCC, but I found myself pretty excited for it–which is rather amusing, because I’m far from a huge fan of hers. But she’s just so… pink! It makes her look so cheerful and happy. Like she’s going to completely wreck your face into a horrible mimicry of what a human should look like, but she’ll be bubbly as hell while doing it. I mean, if you *have* to have someone breaking all your bones, wouldn’t you rather have pink Chun-Li do it than blue Chun-Li? [Pictures from our wonderful SDCC correspondent, Anne Mortensen-Agnew!]

  • We have seen a lot of Street Fighter Bishoujo Juri recently. Her art, her sculpt, the painted version even. But you know what we haven’t seen? Her butt. And as you know, that’s the most important part of a Bishoujo. But we here at Plastikitty strive to bring you the most important figure news, and that means butts. Juri’s butt. It’s looking pretty nice! I’ve heard some complaints about her bust size, but I mean… this is Shunya so it shouldn’t really come as a shock. I’m pretty happy with everything else, including her hair & face. And, of course, the booty. [Pictures from our wonderful SDCC correspondent, Anne Mortensen-Agnew!]

  • Kotobukiya was one of the very few companies to make appearances at both San Diego Comic Con and Wonder Festival. Why do these two events overlap? To drive bloggers crazy, I assume. But it also means that Kotobukiya has to split up the goodies. For example, we get painted Batwoman and Japan gets painted Juri. Oh, and they get Jubilee. What’s up with that! We love her more, I tell you! MORE! But at least we can all gaze upon her lovely art together *sob* [Pictures from our wonderful SDCC correspondent, Anne Mortensen-Agnew!]

  • What more is there to say about Kotobukiya’s gorgeous Batwoman Bishoujo? I mean, I’ve already talked about her a lot. But hey, I can talk about her more! Because she’s SO PRETTY. Batwoman herself isn’t a character I particularly like (I find her personality a bit too prickly), but this figure… uhnf. Just look at those perfect Shunya lips. And the color scheme. The hair. The flipped-up cape. The mix of glossy and matte. My main dilemma is deciding who to display her with–she goes so perfectly with Batgirl, but I want Batgirl in my Birds of Prey setup with Huntress and the upcoming Black Canary… decisions, decisions! • Brace yourself, guys. This is 100% real life. From the beginning of the Star Wars Bishoujo line (which admittedly is pretty small with only Jaina Solo and Mara Jade), fans have been clamoring for two things: Bikini Leia and a Female Stormtrooper. Well, one of them is happening! Guess which! Reading the header is cheating, but you know you probably already did so… yeah. It’s the stormtrooper. We only have a rough outline and a non-Shunya face but it looks like in keeping with the line, she won’t be cheesecake’d up that much. I can’t wait to see the art! [via Pete Morrison, a HUGE thanks to reader Meaghan B for the tip~]

  • You know, Square-Enix is always pumping out a ton of Final Fantasy merchandise but it always seems to be from VII, X, IV, VI, or that random fighting one. Never from my precious baby because people don’t like it and they have terrible taste while I sob in the corner over no Fran merchandise. But finally dark days are over. I’ve been waiting for this moment, and it is HERE. JUST LOOK. FRAN PLAY-ARTS. I’M GONNA DIE HAPPY. And there was some other stuff too like Cloud, Tifa, Red XIII, and Barret or whatever. I mean, Red XIII is my home(liondog) and it’s cool to see Barret getting some representation but WHATEVER FRAN I’M JUST GONNA DANCE AROUND MY APARTMENT ALL DAY [via Jeff Saylor]

  • We knew Kotobukiya would only have one “new” DC Bishoujo at this year’s San Diego Comic Con: Zatanna! And, well, we can kind of see her art right now. It’s a super adorable pose and I am already smitten. Even thought it seems to be either a boob flounder or a tiny butt & boobs going on. Oh Shunya, I just can’t hate you. And the crown jewel of the display is Batwoman, whose announce had me SO EXCITED. I don’t like her personality at all but MAN THAT OUTFIT. And as we saw in the teaser art, she does indeed come with an alt head that has her real, short hair–and it’s already painted! Those are indeed promotional shots, so her orders should open very soon. [UPDATE] Full art for Zatanna added from Koto [via Piziitoys’ Facebook]

  • SDCC is officially on, and while (sadly) we couldn’t make it to the event this year, we’ll still be doing as much coverage as possible! First up, some Bishoujos. A lot of Bishoujos. Right now we’re taking a look at the art for two of their newly announced girls: She-Hulk and Wasp! Both look really cute, though She-Hulk’s pose is very, very similar to Power Girl’s. • Kotobukiya had a lot of Bishoujo teasers lined up for their gaming division: art for both Anna and Sakura, and we had hints that there would probably be a sculpt as well. But boy oh boy did they deliver at this event! The art for Anna and Sakura is out on display (note: right now we don’t have a good angle on Anna, we’re working on it!) and Juri is sculpted and I NEED HER SO BAD. Then there are two brand-new, unteased announcements: Chun-Li will be getting a second, pink outfit and Poison will be joining the Street Fighter lineup! OH HAPPY DAY [UPDATE] Full art for Anna has been added via Harada! [UPDATE 2] Art for Sakura added via Koto {Please note that transphobia in the comments, including use of the word “trap,” will not be tolerated} [via Piziitoys’ Facebook]

  • It’s no secret that Kotobukiya’s Marvel Bishoujo Spider-Woman has been one of my favorites from the line–I was practically drooling when we got to see her up close and in person. So when I found out that they’d be doing another colorway of her, I was pretty excited! Secretly I was hoping for an alternate black & white version, but instead we’re getting metallic. While it’s not as drastically different as some people were hoping for, I’m really happy that the yellow has switched to gold. Yellow is one of my least favorite colors, so I’m digging this redone version. Plus, you know, she looks like a Gryffindor! She is limited to only 800 pieces and will be at booth #3345 at SDCC. Not sure if you dig this version? We’ll be reviewing her before the event! [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]
