  • DC had a LOT on display at Toy Fair, though their booth was actually fairly small and tucked into the back of Diamond. They made very good use of their space, and aside from the figures we already showed you… well, there’s a lot more. So let’s dive in! There’s the BatMan Cave line which features a chess set, dartboard, pool sticks, poker set, and a utility belt, so you can have the coolest Man/Woman Cave on the block (because girls like Batman too, DC.). Seriously, if you get these can I come hang out at your house? We’ve got some stuff for kids: plush and wooden block play set. So cute! Now you can push your child into comic addiction from birth. Of course there were tons of action figures: New 52 Action Figures Series 2, Greg Capullo Action Figures series 1 and 2, and Justice League War Action Figures. Action figures from Arrow made an appearance, along with Vertigo’s Death porcelain doll who I find a little… unsettling. Last but not least is the adorable Scribblenauts Unmasked blind boxed line, which I absolutely NEED in my life.

  • There are a lot of ladies in Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo collaboration with Shunya Yamashita. How many, exactly? Well counting recolors and announced figures, a whopping 55! Considering that they only started up in 2009, they’re coming out at an almost unprecedented speed. Probably because there’s just so much ground to cover: we’ve got the original comic girls as well as characters from video games and movie franchises. The possibilities are almost endless! Of course every fan of the line has a long list of characters they’d like to see done up by Shunya, Stephen and I decided to compile a list of our biggest wants, with guest appearances from our Bishoujo-addicted staff members Chris and Mir! Check them all out after the jump.

  • One of my favorite things that we saw at NYCC was DC Collectibles’ gorgeous Death statue, part of their Vertigo Cover Girls line. While Death isn’t my favorite Sandman character, she comes in pretty close, and I’ve always wanted a nice figure of her. Sadly, previous efforts fell a little short, so my collection has gone Death-less. Thankfully, this new version of her is gorgeous! And not tarted up at all, which I worried about when a Cover Girl of her was announced. She looks as classy as you’d expect! And for only $99 for a 1/6 scale coldcast statue, she certainly won’t break the bank. She’ll come out in February, and I wonder if they’ll be adding any more Vertigo girls to the line? Pre-Order At: Big Bad Toystore | DC

  • We’ve already taken a look at DC Collectibles’ Bombshell line and their Ame-Comi girls, but of course that’s not all they had on hand at New York Comic Con! While they’re certainly producing less figures now than when they were DC Direct, their focus has narrowed and the statues they are putting out seem more refined and in line with current comic trends. The stars of the show (for me at least!) were the two Sandman figures: one gorgeous piece of Death, and a re-issue of their Death & Dream bookends. They also had an impressively large horse-riding Batman, along with a statue from the brand-new show Arrow. The Batman Black & White line was on display, along with the Metallic Superman statues (though Frank Miller’s one looks just…. weird). Of course there were a handful of New 52 action figures, along with a sultry Arkham City Harley Quinn. The Bombshells are still my favorite thing they had on display, but I am totally in love with that Death statue!
