@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Ah, the Seven Deadly Sins line: a massive collaboration between Nitro+, Amakuni and Orchid Seed that has proven to be my downfall… at least when it comes to money. I mean, most of these are exclusives and they suck your money out like little vampires. We’ve got quite a few updates from today’s events, the most important of which are TWO new paintjobs: Amakuni’s Belphegor and Beelzebub are both complete!
I am IN LOVE with Beelzebub. The wings, the pink twintails, she’s amazing. Belphegor is cute too but Bub over here is kind of stealing the show. We’ve got the alternate “sexy” version of Asmodeus here too in her bunny outfit, which I am… not digging (I wonder if the other girls will get less clothed versions too like her and Lucifer?), and also a second look at the Satan sculpt (which can you please release as a regular figure Orchid Seed thanks).

In a shocking turn of events, the fully sculpted Seven Deadly Sins line has been unveiled at CharaHobby! Did anyone even know Orchid Seed & Amakuni were turning up here? I sure didn’t, but… here they are! There’s a ton of new stuff: mainly that Beelzebub and Belphegor, the last two from Amakuni, are sculpted and man Beelzebub is SO CUTE ahh!
Swimsuit Lucifer is also here (though we’ve seen the sculpt before) and she actually looks a lot cuter than I thought. Last but not least, there’s the Leviathan repaint! Which, to be honest, is bringing the whole thing down. She’s just… ugh, candy colored? What? Ew.
[UPDATE] Added closer pictures from moeyo!

Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen.
So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

We’ve been excited about Orchid Seed and Hobby Japan’s Seven Deadly Sins line since its inception. The art is awesome, the figures are more awesome. Even when we found out that Amakuni would be doing Leviathan, Beelzebub and Belphegor I found a way to deal. And the two Orchid Seed has already done, Asmodeus and Lucifer, have been awesome. So when their last two, Satan and Mammon, went up in the last batch of scans, I kind of saw them through rose tinted glasses some might say. Or rather, I had faith in the company.
As you can see from the individual shots in the gallery, many of the issues people had have been addressed already just by seeing the rest of the accessories and getting a different angle! With her cape, Satan looks a lot less lean and is totally bitchin. And from the correct viewing angle, Mammon doesn’t look and more busty from her original art–seriously, go look at it, she is CRAZY stacked in it. And her butt is more prominent. So there, nay-sayers! Orchid has pulled through!

After a few rather lackluster months, the Hobby Japan scans are back on track! We have a pretty action-packed lineup for you this time around, with almost twice as many figures as we’ve been seeing the past few months. Though let’s start up with a bit of bad news: there’s rumors from these scans that figma Strength has been cancelled! Only rumors, but anyway, let’s get onto the good.
We’ve got lots of ladies for you, and finally the return of Good Smile Company & co in the scaled figure section. I don’t know why they went missing for so long but oh well, they’re back now with some shiny goodies. We’ve also got not one but TWO devils from the Seven Sins lineup, which is awesome because for the past few months it’s been nothing but art. So without any more delays, hit the jump and let’s get right to the good stuff!

I am so head over heels in love with FuRyu’s Shin Megami Tensei prize line it’s not even funny. The most consistently awesome thing about MegaTen (aside from the music) is the monster design, and it’s pretty damn clear that major manufacturers won’t be taking on these weirdos any time soon. So FuRyu has been a godsend in this department, bringing us everything from the painfully cute to the totally weird–and Satan is probably the crown jewel of this line (so far, at least!).
We’ve seen him painted before, but not so up close and personal! Looking at the detail, it’s kind of amazing that he costs a mere $14 at the current exchange rate. I’ve paid over $100 for figures with less detail *cough*FREEing*cough*! Satan is set for an August release, and while pre-orders are pretty much sold out everywhere he’s sure to pop up on the aftermarket. I can’t wait to see what baddies they show off at the next prize fair!

Oh FuRyu, what would us MegaTen fans do without you? They are currently the only company making the monster designs from the Shin Megami Tensei series (not counting the main character Personas), though back in the day Kotobukiya had a line of minifigures revolving around them. Hint hint… get back to that, Koto!
Anyway, as we know FuRyu’s latest offering in this series is the awesome Satan, one of my favorite monsters in the game. We only saw him unpainted, but now we’re getting a look at what will arrive on our doorsteps in a few months! He looks great, and I really do think these are some of the highest-quality prize figures around. Good job, FuRyu!

I have such a love-hate relatipnship with magazine scans. On one hand, it’s so much fun to see all the new goodies! On the other, it’s 3 in the morning and I wanted to catch up on Supernatural but instead I’m cropping photos. Ah, what a hard life us toy bloggers lead! Truly, we suffer for our art.
Let’s face it magazine scans the month of a Wonder Festival will be the dullest of the year. Half the stuff we’ve already seen, and there are very few new reveals. However, that doesn’t mean there is nothing at all! Some companies, like Alter, apparently think it’s fun to save their most interesting sculpt for scans instead of the event, and we’ve got double Nyaruko along with a lot more goodies!

FuRyu’s slow but steady Shin Megami Tensei line has been giving fans what they have been asking for for years: figures of the monsters! So far we’ve gotten quite a few: Shiva & Thor, Cerberus, Beelzebub & Loki, The Harlot & Alice with Jack Frost, and most recently Mokoi, Black Frost and Mothman. Now we have one more addition: Satan, a definite fan favorite!
He’s got one of the best (and most risque) monster designs, and of course the figure is HUGE–11.7″ tall. And since it’s a prize, you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg! In fact he is up on Big In Japan for a very reasonable price and will come out in August. Between these and Taito’s Persona line, I really think prizes are the best option for SMT fans!

A few years ago, Hobby Japan (which usually only produces exclusive figures) announced a collaboration with Alter for their Hyakka Ryouran project, which eventually led to both some stellar figures and a really tacky anime. Designs were done by the famous illustrator niθ, who is known for his elaborate outfits, and it seems like they are at it again!
This time the project is called “7 Sins” though I have no idea why as the characters are not really personifications of the 7 sins. They are the 7 princes of hell instead that are sometimes associated with the sins: Lucifer is Pride, Leviathan is Envy, Satan is Wrath, Mammon is Greed, Beelzebub is Gluttony, Belphegor is Sloth, and Asmodeus is Lust. However, Leviathan is a sea monster and Lucifer is an angel so it is a bit odd that they are all “devils”–I blame that on the confusing history of Demonology, though. They are drawn as women both busty and flat-chested which you can check out in the gallery. As you’d expect from niθ the designs are stunning, and I think these will make some killer figures.
Unlike last time, Hobby Japan is pairing up with Orchid Seed for this project. I think they are a better choice than Alter after looking at the designs, as demon girls are something Orchid is very good at (plus we get the added bonus of cast-off). The figures will most likely be a mix of regular and exclusive releases, but I know this is definitely one line I will do anything to complete!
