Satsuki Kiryuuin Archive

  • Another month, another batch of figure previews from Good Smile Company! This month was jam-packed with newly painted goodies, including Max Factory’s Senkan Re-kyuu who we already showed you. So for this post we’ll be focusing on the poseable figures! Let’s start with figma Satsuki Kiryuuin from Kill la Kill. I’m guessing you already know how I feel about this, but let me just say that the gratuitous figma butt is cracking me up. Like, really? Figma butts. I can’t. Then we’ve got two rather amazing Nendoroids! The first is Noel from Sora no Method who has some amazing extras like a UFO (??) and a dinosaur cutout she can actually put her face in. And the faces! SO CUTE. Then we have Takao from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nova, who might have my favorite Nendo accessory of all time: a huggable body pillow. And, of course, some awesome faceplates. I like her so much more than Iona! Are you looking forward to any of these? [via figsoku]

  • When we first saw Good Smile’s take on Satsuki Kiryuuin from Kill la Kill, I was… less than enthusiastic. Sure, I like that it’s not the same outfit as the Phat! Company one and I love the pose and slim aesthetic, but I was not sold on the face. At all. Well, guys, I’ve had a change of heart: after some deep internal reflection (aka I remembered that this is pretty much Sakurako’s signature style, and I love her sculpts), I am now on Team GSC Satsuki. What’s that, you say?! She has an amazing butt too?! That totally has nothing to do with my opinion. At all. I assure you. I am 100% rational when it comes to butts, as we all know. • Another month, another group of new figures for Good Smile & co to show off! This month’s NicoNico broadcast was totally jam-packed, so we’re just going to dive right in. Let’s start with the star of the show: figma Sakura Kinomoto. We got a look at what I assume is her full lineup of accessories, and boy does she come with a lot. Both wands in fully extended mode, the star wand in mini form, Kero (of course), her small wings, and a large pair of wings from Fly that will both fit on her wand and her back. AHH it’s everything I wanted! Bandai, why did you even try. As for Nendoroids, we’ve got three new sculpts: Aoi Yukimura from Yama no Susume and the KanColle duo of Kumano and Suzuya. They also previewed Nendoroid Batman, who will have a tiny Batsignal and his cape will fold all the way around him! Plus a tiny teaser of painted Fang Lin Yin. And scaleds? Well, we’re getting a better look at the admittedly odd Good Smile Satsuki, and also a brand new announcement: there will be an alternate version of DRAMAtical Murder‘s Ren, with… no shirt! Given the context of the game it’s kind of… super creepy… [via mfc]

  • Fans have been waiting rather nervously for Good Smile Company to show off the sculpt for their scaled Satsuki Kiryuuin from Kill la Kill. After all, we kind of had no idea what she’d look like: Phat! Company gave us Ryuuko and Satsuki in battle gear, and the Good Smile Ryuuko is… um, well she’s something else. But Satsuki doesn’t have a matching outfit for that, so how would they end up sculpting her? Well, there’s some good news! As fans had hoped, we’re finally getting a figure of one of the girls in their school outfits! No “omg look at my boobs,” but their really cool stylized uniforms–well, Ryuuko’s uniform, at least. The bad news? Her face. I think this is self-explanatory. Let’s hope this gets fixed asap. [via Kahotan]

  • Figmas: like Nendoroids, a metric crapton are announced, and while every Wonder Festival Leah writes up the Nendoroids, I get to write up the figmas, which is kind of funny because I adore Nendoroids and don’t really like figmas (I mean, why the hell are some of them more than scaled figures now? But I digress…) so this is pretty much going to be the same style as that Nendoroid post, a giant list. Yeah, I know that was probably a run on sentence, but it’s like 3 am and Leah and I have been at this for like 9 hours now so deal with it. We’ve already shown you a good number of figmas: Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura, the MC from Persona 4, the Type 18 Gardes and Benisuzume figmas from Knights of Sidonia (there’s a bonus pic of the sculpt of the Type 18 Gardes in the gallery), Yugi and Dark Magician Girl from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: ARISE, and Miki from Idolm@ster. Now onto the new! In the anime world we’ve got Hizamaru Akari from Terraformars, Winged Homura from Madoka Magica, Kirito and Sinon from Sword Art Online II, Makishima Yuusuke from Yowamushi Pedal (seriously, does anyone order these weird bike anime figmas?), Masaru from the cult manga and anime Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san, the mech from Nobunaga the Fool (why is this show still getting merch? It was awful and everyone dropped it after two episodes, I mean there is literal Leonardi Da Vinci-san…), Satsuki from Kill la Kill, Shinobu from Nisemonogatari, a tanned Soniko from her anime where she wears a bikini every single episode (I suffered through that for everyone), and yet another Yoshika from Strike Witches because who the hell knows. Then in the gaming world we’ve got Lucina from Fire Emblem, Solid Snake and the Gurlukovich Soldiers from the Metal Gear Solid universe, and Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. We also have two new Racing Mikus: her regular 2014 version and the Mirai 2014 version. I have no clue why we need two, but I’m going to assume the reason is $$$. Finally in the land of who the hell knows what’s going on we’ve got King Leonidas from 300, a horse, and the Thinker by Rodin. Yeah, I have just about as much of a clue on those last ones as you do. • Good Smile used to be pretty much the king of the scaled figure world, but with the focus shifting more and more to Nendoroids they seem to be making less and less scaled PVC. But, of course, they haven’t cut it all out! We have lots of goodies to show you, besides the Levi and Mikus we’ve already featured. There’s some Madoka goodies: art for the Momoe Nagisa figure, and a new Homura to go with their recent art-style Madoka! There’s more of the Saber Sakura sculpt, a kickass new Ryuuko Matoi and the announcement for a matching (possibly?) Satsuki, the sculpt for their bikini Soniko, the creepy Terra Formars girl, and the announcement of Niko Yazawa from Love Live! [UPDATE] Added Sawamura Supensaa Eriri from Saenai hiroin no Sodatekata. What a long name. [UPDATE 2] Added a sculpt for Kurumi Tokisaki (Kurumi is from AlphaMax, sorry for the confusion!) and the announcement for.. brace yourselves… DARK MAGICIAN GIRL. [via whl4u]

  • If you are surprised at the fact that there are quite a few Kill la Kill garage kits making an appearance at Wonder Festival this summer… well, you probably haven’t been paying attention to figure trends at all. In fact, I’m kind of surprised at how few there are! Of course we have quite a few, but most of the focus is on Ryuuko with only a handful of Satsukis and one lone Mako. Oh, and THE CUTEST GUTS. Seriously, I want it so bad. [via Odeya, fg-site, Iwayura Extra, Figureneet]

  • Okay, so I was fibbing when I said that the NicoNico broadcast didn’t have any good new Nendoroids. But let’s be honest, these two are big enough to deserve their own post. Cause, you know, they don’t want to share header space with no IDOLM@S girls! We’ve got (almost) full preview pictures of Armin from AoT and Satsuki from KlK, both of whom come with totally amazing faces and poses. I mean, the angry Satsuki face… I’m dying. I don’t even like either show but I want both of these cuties right this second. [via Ani735 Paradise]

  • You may have noticed some radio silence from Plastikitty over the weekend–that is because we were in a forest where no internet could reach us. It was a nice break, but of course we came back to some news to catch up on! First and foremost (and, okay, kind of only), are a bunch of new RAHs that Medicom has just shown off. As you can see in the header, they are (surprise!) expanding their Kill la Kill line to include (of course) Satsuki and, more surprisingly, uniform Ryuuko! We are also getting a school uniform Homura with her braids, new Daft Punk RAHs, and Eva Unit-13. Cause, you know, there just weren’t enough Evangelion RAHs already! [via Hobbylog]

  • It’s not surprise that Phat!’s Satsuki Kiryuuin from Kill la Kill is getting bonus galleries only days after her first promotional photoshoot: I mean, that seems to happen with 1) most Good Smile Company & co figures and 2) most figures whose main selling point is T & A. So Satsuki is like a dream come true for a whole lot of photography blogs. We all know how I feel about Satsuki, but I do have one thing to add: where are her nipples?! Did they vanish? Does her magical girl transformation make them invisible? It’s crazy, I tell you. Also, her butt gives me feelings. [via moeyo]
