There are a massive amount of figure-related events in Japan. Usually we cover the big ones that involve PVC: Wonder Festival, Comiket, MegaHobby, Tamashii Nations, et cetera. But of course the garage kit community probably puts out ten times as much as the PVC world, they are just a lot harder to get! The most recent gk event will be Treasure Festa in Ariake 9, which takes place on May 5th–yes, only a few days away!
So today we’re bringing you a roundup of some of the best kits that will be at the event, complete with the circle’s name in case you are lucky enough to be at the event and have the money and speed to snag one. My favorites are the adorable Yagyu from Senran Kagura and Atelier Hiro’s graceful Miku, but there’s a whole lot more–even a Kaito and an awesome Shin Megami kit with both Jack Frost and Pyro Jack! Check them all out after the jump.

This time around they’ve changed things up a bit though: their bread and butter franchise, Touhou Project, was mysteriously missing! Well, not missing: the derpy 1/10 figures were on display and <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/griffon-announces-a-figure-of-touhou-projects-rumia" target="_blank">Rumia</a> is painted… though the less I say about her the better.</p> <p>It seems like they are going back to their roots–scantily clad ladies! Many of <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/winter-wonder-festival-2013-griffon-enterprise" target="_blank">the Wonder Festival announcements</a> are sculpted, including Ikaruga (who is also painted) and Katsura Kotohana. Surprisingly, the <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/griffon-takes-on-sasami-tsukuyomi" target="_blank">just-announced Sasami Tsukuyomi</a> is there as well, and not quite as cute as I had hoped. As for new announcements, we have quite a few–they’re doing Katsumi Liqueur and Kiddy Phenil from <em>Silent Mobius</em> and are going back to Ikkitousen with another Ryofu Housen. At Winter Wonder Festival CM’s Corporation <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/winter-wonder-festival-2013-cms-corporation" target="_blank">announced a whole slew of figures of the girls</a>: 5, to be exact. And 4 of them are at this event! The disappointing Hibari, who has already gone up for order, seems to be getting a second (slightly cuter) version. Katsuragi is painted and looking okay, but at this point nothing is going to top <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/winter-wonder-festival-2013-phat-companys-katsuragi" target="_blank">the Phat! Company version</a>.</p> <p>We have two brand new sculpts: Yagyu, who I have to say is looking pretty awesome, and Ikaruga, who is looking less awesome. Why can no company do her right? The boob-lifting thing is just… odd. Come on, <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/amiami-zero-announces-an-ikaruga-from-senran-kagura" target="_blank">AmiAmi Zero</a>, you’re my only hope! I really hope their Asuka turns out okay, but I feel like Phat! It’s a fanservice fighting game, and I tend to absolutely loathe those. But for some reason the character design just hits all the right notes for me! One of the more interesting characters is Haruka, who has a coat 5x bigger than she is and a bizarre mix of military garb and lingerie.</p> <p>So far no manufacturers have taken her on, though given the popularity of the game (which can you localize please Marvelous Entertainment?) I assume it’s only a matter of time before every girl gets a shot at a scaled version. Well, I guess it’s Haruka’s turn! I am no fan of A+, in fact I kind of hate them, but I am praying that their announced 1/4.5 scale figure of her turns out nice. Not surprising, since it’s like<em> Ikkitousen</em> with actually interesting and diverse character designs! Ikaruga seems to be one of the more popular girls, with a figure up for order <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/summer-wonder-festival-2012-phat-companys-ikaruga" target="_blank">from Phat! Company</a>, one <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/vertexs-winter-wonder-festival-2013-teasers" target="_blank">on display from Vertex</a>, and <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/winter-wonder-festival-2013-cms-corporation" target="_blank">an announced figure from CM’s Corporation</a>.</p> <p>However, none of these has really done it for me. I hate the pose and proportions on the Phat! one, the Vertex ones outfit is a bit too… scant for me, and the pose on CM’s looks blah. Thankfully I love what AmiAmi Zero has done with the cast: <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/summer-wonder-festival-2012-amiami-zero" target="_blank">their swimsuit Yagyu</a> is to die for, and <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/winter-wonder-festival-2013-amiami-zero" target="_blank">their Katsuragi</a> is just adorable! The Hibari <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/cms-corp-shows-off-figures-from-senran-kagura-more" target="_blank">they showed off earlier</a> is painted, though based on how glossy she is I do not think that is the final prototype, and Katsuragi is sculpted. We also have 3 new announcements: Ikaruga, Yagyu, and Asuka. Is it just me or was this game/show everywhere this Wonder Festival?!</p> <p>Of course that’s not all they had, and some (but not all) of the <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/cm-corporations-winter-wonder-festival-2013-teasers" target="_blank">teased figures</a> popped up. Their Senran Kagura Yagyu and Katsuragi were there: right now it’s looking like I will have two of Katsuragi at least, I like this even more than the Phat! Company one!</p> <p>Madoka Kyouno was on display and looking much cuter than I expected, along with their Gotou who looks more refined but it still not to my taste.
