Seven Deadly Sins Archive

Have you ever felt deeply, personally betrayed by a figure company? Like they’re an ex boyfriend who done you wrong and you’ll never forgive them? That’s my relationship with Orchid Seed. Six years ago (SIX YEARS AGO) they showed off a beautiful figure of a girl in a library with a cat. And then. NOTHING. WHERE IS LIBRARY WAIFU ORCHID? Cause she ain’t here.
So, what is here? Like, nothing. Some updates on their still-going Seven Sins line (Belphegor is painted, Mammon is… Mammon), but other than that? Stocking: still just sculpted. Dark Elf: still just sculpted. Some Queen’s Blade art: yeah, still just art. I’m close to fed up with this damn company.

Oh, Orchid Seed. They used to be one of my top 3 favorite companies but we’ve had something of a falling out lately. They’re just so damn slow! It’s been over 4 years and I am still waiting for my library girl. Spoiler alert: she’s not at this event either.
I mean, to be fair, they did have a lot of new: including two of my most anticipated figures from them, Kureha and Tamaki, painted. Also lots of new Seven Sins stuff, which makes me wonder how much production & time it’s eating up. I mean, they have over 20 figures still in the art stage! But thankfully, it seems like we have no new art announcements this time. Maybe next year I’ll get library girl…

Ahh, Amakuni. What am I gonna do with you. They’re a mystery: some figures (I’m looking at you, Kasumi Iwato, and your crazy boobs) are just terribly made. Others, like the sculpts they showed off for Nunnally Shirokiite and Umuru, are just gorgeous. Then we have the lovely 7 Deadly Sins line and of course the big header surprise: Grizzry Panda’s AMAZING Homura & Madoka, finally as PVC! How do they make things so good and so bad? It’s a mystery.
We also have some announcements: Saki Miyanaga & Hatsumi Usuzumi from Saki Zenkoku-hen, Kashima from KanColle, and Kokuten no Miko Tamayorihime form Wixoss.

Just slip some demons under the tree for me,
I’ve been an awful good hellspawn~
Twas the night before Christmas, and here at Plastikitty we were taking pictures of butts and worshiping Santa Satan. All part of the holiday spirit, right? And what’s more Christmas-y than Santa? Nothing, except maybe Satan from 7 Deadly Sins in some sweet Santa cosplay. This Amakuni figure was destined to be mine from the moment I saw her: I mean, it’s Satan and that alone is enough to sell me, but she also happens to be hella cute. And Christmas figures are such a weakness of mine! So we took her out for a romp under the tree. I had a lot of fun shooting her (even though I had to wiggle around on the ground a lot), so check out all our shots in the gallery below.
Happy holidays from Plastikitty!

Amakuni: aka “manufacturer of figures I want that are always so expensive & exclusive so they make me cry.” It’s always kind of bittersweet to see what they have coming down the pipeline because it will inevitably be pretty and I inevitably won’t be able to get it. SIGH. They had, of course, some great stuff at Megahobby, including Wedding Muramasa! Plus the bonus announcement for a Wedding Chachamaru Ashikaga. The alternate Beelzebub is also painted.
We have a ton of new sculpts! There’s Felicia von Flamberg (lol that name) from Sword & Wizards, the gorgeous Umuru from Wixoss, an announcement for Libeccio from KanColle, and the hilariously busty Kasumi Iwato from Saki Zenkoku-hen.

Do you think there were enough events this week? First we had Miyazawa Model Expo, then the 42nd Prize Fair, and finally Animate Girls Festival. But apparently we need a nice, even number, so we have #4: Hobby Japan Character Festival! A celebration of all those exclusive figures you wish you could buy but probably can’t afford.
There were no new announcements but we did have some updates, like the painted Hunter from Bikini Warriors and MegaHouse’s grown-up Aldra figure. Bikini Warriors‘ Mage also showed up (so adorable!) along with Kotobukiya’s amazing Fuyuka Yukishiro from Sword & Wizards. They also brought a ton of art, including an excessive amount of Satan from Seven Sins–maybe we’ll be getting another figure of her?

Guys, guys… magazine scans are back! We have an actual batch of things that aren’t just “everything MegaHouse is doing that we already knew about!” Like, new figures and stuff! Okay, so it’s more like “pictures with an ungodly amount of flash” rather than, you know, scans, but it’s progress. Maybe one day we’ll be back to the golden days of actual scans. But for now, we’re close enough.
This month we’ve got lots of goodies, including actual new figures–like that grown-up Aldra people have always wanted, an alternate Beelzebub from Seven Deadly Sins, and a recolor of Won Pairon from AlphaMax. We’re also getting a look at MegaHouse’s Bulma (she’s in a bunny outfit!) and quite a few figures are painted: MegaHouse’s Seiten, Kotobukiya’s Kirika, the new Thai Queen Racing Miku, and Phat!’s Rin Suzuboki. Check them all out below!

When a line is milked as hard as Hobby Japan has been pushing the Seven Deadly Sins, we get a lot of recolors. And oh man have they gone to town on these girls: almost all of the standard ones have gotten recolors, and even some of the alternate sculpts! I have to say, I’m a bit surprised they did a recolor of Satan: I mean, the red is a classic. And if they were going to do another, you’d expect like black right? Maybe a bloody garnet? Nope, she’s blue and white!
So maybe this is the Inferno colorway, where Satan is trapped in ice, but 1) she only has one face so probably not and 2) I really don’t think they’re that clever. I guess this matches the pastel Lucifer? I’d rather have a version to match this, thank you very much. Satan is, no surprise, an exclusive: she retails for ¥11,000 and is set for a March release date. You can snag one right now at Big In Japan!

Amakuni, aka maker of things we want but can’t have because they’re all exclusives, had little to show at Wonder Festival. In fact one of their figures, the bride Muramasa, was behind frosted glass. So we could see.. the vague outline? What is the point of that? I thought she was being made by Wing (which would mean non-exclusive) but they switched it on us!
Also on display was Haruna from KanColle, and their idol Lucifer (who I am totally in love with), along with some rather creepy figures of Prisma Illya and Kuro. Why are they naked?! Whyyy.

Every year I get my hopes up with Orchid Seed. I think “this is the year we’ll finally see library girl get painted! Or that Kureha sculpt!” And every damn year I’m let down. This time around there’s surprisingly little in the way of new: in fact, we have NO new announcements and only two new sculpts. One of them is the boring bikini girl Tsukiumi. Orchid, please work on your old cool announcements. Enough bikinis!
But the other announcement has me so happy. Finally, they’ve sculpted the Samurai Tamaki! Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for an Orchid Tama-nee? My whole life. Literally. Oh, and they have Belial and alt Mammon out too!
