Shielder Archive

  • So far I have really managed to avoid all of the Fate/Grand Order hype. It’s a combination of things: Stephen and I have cut our orders down to a scale figure every one or two months, so we have to be super picky, and also there’s just so dang many of them! If I started with one, I’d get the Pringles effect and want them all. But let me tell you, this one is tempting me. Stronger’s take on Shielder is just so lovely and unique (and a lot better than the Aniplex version). It’s kind of like a classic American pickup pose, no? The perfect mix of strong (I mean, she’s got that big old shield to smack you with) and sexy. Plus her eventual purple-grey color palette really appeals to me. Hopefully she’s colored at Wonder Festival! [via beyyang128]

  • I predicted that Fate/Grand Order would be the most popular license at Wonder Festival, and I was right. I was too right, guys. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF THEM. This is just from Good Smile (and just what they put up before the show). Are you ready? We have the painted Berserker from Max Factory, and Saber Atilla from Good Smile Company. They also have the sculpt for Shuten Douji out. Nendoroid Lancer is painted, and Jeanne d’Arc is sculpted. We also have announcements for a Nendoroid of Jeanne d’Arc Alter/Santa Lily. What is these names, too confusing. Oh, and Alter/Lily/Jeanne is getting a scale from GSC too! As is Boobie Pony Saber (aka Lancer Altria), and Boobie Kitty (Shielder). Not enough Fate for you? Well, Max Factory is doing water gun bikini Saber (aka Artoria Pendragon) and Lancer. Then we have cute minis from Phat! Company. Phew! [via whl4u]

  • When Aniplex announced Fate/Grand Order figures, I was tentatively excited. The designs are actually pretty cool (though I think there are way better characters than Saber & Shielder to make figures of), and Aniplex usually pumps out quality products. Well, we have the sculpts for both of them! And I am decidedly underwhelmed. Saber is just kind of standing there, which is hella boring and we’ve seen figures of her basically identical to this. I was hoping for at least some cape-swirling action but alas, another rather dull Saber sculpt. And Sheilder… also just standing there. Her shield gives so much potential for a cool pose, but it’s so dull! Hopefully we get some cool F/GO figures from Alter… and there’s the ques Q Lancer to look forward to. [via Neonadia’s Twitter]

  • There are so many Fate games I honestly cannot keep track of them. Just when you think Fate/Apocrypha is the hot new property everyone wants a piece of, another one appears! This time it’s Fate/Grand Order, the online RPG. Which is a reboot of the original but has a lot of new characters? Who knows anymore. Anyway, Aniplex announced two figures from the series: Saber (in a crown and cape, how fancy) and Shielder (who looks a bit dull compared to the Apocrypha designs, if I’m being honest). I’m not super excited for either of these: I have enough Saber figures to last me a lifetime, and Aniplex figures are exclusive so that means $$. I’ll change my tune pretty quickly if they do Joan Alter, though. [via Aniplex’s Twitter]
