@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Okay, so it’s no big surprise Alter brought their Labrys figure to MegaHobby. I mean, she was one of the stars of their show at WonFest! It is a little surprising that she isn’t painted but hey, it’s Alter, and sometimes they take forever. It’s (almost) always worth it in the end though! But we’re not totally without updates: Labrys will come with an alternate face featuring her visor, which is pretty awesome.

Oh, Aegis. While she’s one of the later party members you acquire in Persona 3, she’s kind of become the mascot for the game. Honestly I’m not really sure why she’s the most popular of the girls. Mitsuru is the most beautiful, Yukari has the charming & fashionable factor, Fuuka’s got that dorky cute thing going that Japan seems to love… but nope, it’s the weird robot everyone loves! Okay, so Aegis is awesome, I’m just perplexed (yes, still, after all these years) at her popularity.
But as a rabid P3 fan (I will fight to the death over it being better than 4), any figure is good news! I was happy at the announcement of her Nendoroid, and the painted reveal looked totally perfect! But for some reason the full reveal is just not doing it for me. Sure, she’s got like all her weapons, and 3 faces (the cute stock one, a painfully generic closed-eye face, a slightly angry, slightly cute fighting one–also generic). It just doesn’t capture her personality for me. Yukiko and Teddie were way better in that aspect, but at least the detail on her robot is killer.

Wave, what are you doing. Please stop. Why would you show off like 20 releases at once? You need to stagger this stuff! I feel like I’ve been info overloaded. About halfway through slogging through this massive image vomit I got to the fact that another MegaTen series, Devil Survivor 2, was getting Beach Queens (or more specifically Io Nitta, but I’m sure Airi will join her!) and I just went “oh okay.” Instead of acting like a 10-year-old in an ice cream parlor, like I usually do when anything SMT related is involved.
We’ve got a ton of ladies for you today! They’re (finally) doing an Ayase from OreImo, the Suisei no Gargantia girls are sculpted, we’ve got quite a lot of Girls und Panzer & Vividred Operation, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun S snuck its way in, and then there’s the more “fringe” and new licenses. Tokurei Sochi Dantai Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C3-bu (what even?), Kiniro Mosaic, Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru (I can’t), Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru, and Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai a good librarian like a good shepherd (these names oh my god).

I’m sure most of us are kind of Aegis’d out, but there’s one format we haven’t seen enough of from the Persona world: Nendoroids! I was definitely surprised when Teddie and Yukiko got Nendos before her, but now that the Persona 3 Movie is coming out soon it’s her time to shine once again.
She was announced at Winter WonFest and then sculpted at Summer WonFest, so I expected to wait a few more months to see her painted… but here she is! And looking fabulous, of course. I just hope this isn’t the only P3 Nendoroid we get, I really want some of the other characters: preferably the MC, Mitsuru & Junpei.

The incoming Persona 3 movie means, of course, more Persona 3 merchandise–which is a good thing, right? Well… it usually is. You know, if the sculpt doesn’t look like a bootleg version of a trading figure!
Happy Kuji, a lottery prize much like Ichiban Kuji, is working on almost the whole cast in one form or another and we’ve seen some cute straps from them… but then this monstrosity walks in. I mean oh my god it’s so bad. I didn’t even know you could make a figure this awful in 2013. I know she’s a prize, but compare this to Taito’s Elizabeth, a widely available prize figure, and it’s just… laughable. I can’t imagine looking at this and thinking “yeah, this is something I want to own!” I’m actually kind of happy they aren’t doing a big Junpei, I don’t want to see that eldritch beast!

At this point, how many figures of Aegis do we have? There’s the newly-announced 1/2.5 version of her, the Nendoroid, schoolgirl Aegis, prize Aegis, figma Aegis (x2), recolor figma Aegis, the weird Phat! Company Aegis, ugly stick Aegis, Alter’s 1/6 Aegis, their much older 1/8 Aegis, maid Aegis, and Kotobukiya’s ancient figure of her.. which happens to be the first one. So of course I rolled my eyes when Daibadi announced their version of her… over a year ago.
Which, by the way, was painted at that time. So I have no idea why it took them a year to get promotional shots out of her but here they are! Thrilling, right? I actually find the proportions super adorable but I am just SO Aegis’d out. Plus she’s ¥8,000 (yes you read that right) and only comes with one face. Okay, I guess the blaster effects are cool but what the hell, $80 for THIS? What is Daibadi smoking?

I love Junpei Iori from Persona 3. A lot. Like… he’s probably my favorite male character from any (Japanese) property ever. I’ve been dying for merchandise of him since I first popped in the game disk and saw his goofy face. He’s my video game soulmate. And we’re finally getting something of him! You think that would be good news, right? WRONG.
The dreaded Happy Kuji is upon us again. Prize figures… damn you to hell! So far we’re getting keychains of Junpei, the MC, Mitsuru Kirijou, Yukari Takeba, Fuuka Yamagishi, Akihiko Sanada and Elizabeth. They’re so cute ;~; Like their Persona 4 lineup we’ll also be getting chibis (of all the playable characters! Except Ken, cause Ken sucks. And Shinji, because… you know), and 2 scaled prizes of the MC and Elizabeth. And for once, no Aegis! It’s a miracle. But I just want Junpei. Sadly Happy Kuji figures seem so hard to get *sob*

Hot on the heels of their announcement of a 1/2.5 scale Aegis, it seems like Griffon has another set of Persona-related announcements up their sleeves! They do like to milk licenses so I guess it’s not really that surprising, but I was a bit startled! Especially since these are in their Nanoricchi VC line, a Nendoroid “inspired” set of chibi action figures. Considering how the Figguto line went, these might take a very long time to hit shelves…
Well anyway, on to the announcement itself! As the header implies, Elizabeth will be getting a Nanoricchi, along with…*drumroll* Aegis! Wow, such surprise. Much excitement, more Aegis. Just what fans want, right? Not like a chibi of Mitsuru, Fuuka, Yukari or Metis would be appreciated…

MegaHouse, why ;~;
When this figure was first announced, I was bouncing off the walls with excitement, and the sculpt reveal made me feel like heaven had opened up and a choir of angels had descended upon me. I waited patiently for the painted version, and now it’s here… but I’m kind of distracted by the price. Want to take a guess?
¥12,800. HAHA NICE JOKE MEGAHOUSE. So funny. They’ve always been one of the more affordable companies so I have no clue where they came up with this GSC-level pricing. And come on, even with the cape not even GSC would price him this high. What is happening?! At least he’s a March release and not in a packed winter month…

There are very few companies who specialize in large figures. And no, I’m not talking about 1/6 or even 1/4: more like… 1/2.5! Yeah, I know, it’s weird–why not 1/3 or 1/2? Why the .5? But either way, it seems like it’s not just A+ who is working in this scale anymore, but Griffon! They mysteriously have a figure in this scale of Himawari Shinomiya on display which, let’s face it, is not that exciting. Who is gonna drop $300 on a figure of her?!
But the other announcements… those are something to (potentially, this is Griffon after all) get pumped for. We’ve got Asuna from Sword Art Online, Super Soniko, and… Aegis from Persona 3 (yeah that one strikes me as weird, since when does Griffon do SMT figs?!). Let’s just hope the sculpts turn out… halfway decent.
