Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama Archive

  • Let’s get one thing straight: pictures, full pictures, of an actual sculpt is not a teaser. Two companies shockingly got this wrong in 2015: first Orca and now Alter. Yes, that’s right, Alter thinks teaser for Wonder Festival = a total full reveal. Which sucks! I hate spoilers this big. And only one of them is something we knew about: their Keigo Atobe is fully sculpted (and probably my favorite of the Altair line so far). The other two are brand-new announcements and both from Strike Witches. We’ve got a second Version of Charlotte E Yeager and a new girl as well–Martina Crespi. They both look great but I’m almost over the Strike Witches line. It’s just been going on for SO long! [via Dengeki & Tenipuri]

  • Those tennis guys (aka the cast of Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama) have been pretty popular lately–or at least as popular as you can expect male characters to be, sadly. Kotobukiya has been working their way through the cast pretty steadily, but a new company is taking on the series too it seems: Alter, or rather their Altair line! They’ll be doing a figure of Keigo Atobe, decked out in decidedly not-tennis-friendly clothing while sitting on a throne. What does this have to do with tennis? Who knows! Well, I’m sure fans do. But even if you don’t know the source material, it’s pretty thrilling to see a male figure getting made that isn’t just standing around. [via The Altair Blog]

  • Wow, so tennis! Much handsome. Wowwww. I’m not really a fan of the whole guys playing sports theme (which is funny because I like sports a lot in real life as long as they involve football), but I am so, so happy that companies are finally listening to their female fans and making sport boys. Who play tennis with FLOWING CAPES and MAJESTIC STANCES with butts and such. Cause everyone can enjoy good butts and deserves them in their lives. [via IoryHamon’s Twitter: 1 | 2]

  • Ah, more teasers. Kotobukiya doesn’t show off as much as some companies, but we’re still getting a pretty generous peek! We’ll start with the boys (since there are a lot of them!). We’ve got three from Prince of Tennis: Kunimitsu Tezuka, who was announced a while back, is now sculpted and we are getting a full shot of him along with two announcements. He’ll be joined by Kuranosuke Shiraishi and Seiichi Yukimura. It also looks like we’ll be getting a double dose of Marik Ishtar: his figure is painted, but there is also an unpainted sculpt… of him totally topless! Fanservice for the ladies~ Of course there are some female figures as well! The Tomo Asama they announced ages ago seems to be sculpted, and the Kasumi Yashiro they announced a few days ago is already painted. Fast turnaround! We’ve also got two brand new girls: a second Hitagi Senjougahara and Sumika Kagami from Muv-Luv. [via es_series, tenipuri & RED☆STAR Blog]

  • Kotobukiya, along with MegaHouse and Alter, is one of the few companies that actually cater to female figure collectors–so it’s no wonder that they are the 3 main attendees of MegaHobby Expo! Kotobukiya will have a lot of boys at the event, and the first we are taking a look at is Keigo Atobe from The Prince of Tennis, a follow-up figure to Ryouma Echizen. Like Ryouma, Keigo is looking mightily cocky for someone playing tennis. I mean come on, it’s such a rich people sport! But apparently these guys take it seriously… and so do their fangirls. • Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama, better known as The Prince of Tennis here in the US, is one of those mangas/shows that I never really got. As Stephen says, “its the Dragonball Z of tennis!” Aka, it’s long and nothing happens yet tons of stuff happens and it involves… tennis. But lord knows it has lots of fangirls, and if Kotobukiya knows one thing it’s how to please the ladies! So it’s really no surprise that they’ve added some of these guys to their ArtFX J line. First up is Ryouma Echizen along with his delightfully fluffy companion Karupin. Seriously, I will buy this figure for the cat. Because I collect mini PVC cats, no joke. Plus he looks amazing! And he retails for ¥6,800–yes, you read that price right. He’s going to be released in September, and Keigo Atobe is next up in the line. [via Kotobukiya]
