  • Pulchra is a company with great ideas but usually not-so-great execution. Aside from the header girl Marie Antoinette, who we already saw at Fate/History, none of their sculpts really stand out to me. Except for Isuzu Sento, but that is… not in a good way. What is happening with her chest. They actually remind me a lot of Griffon, especially with their penchant to put up cards with the sculpt on them instead of, you know, just bringing the figure. They had a LOT of announcements this year. Rosehip from Girls und Panzer, Tooka Yatogami & Yoshino & Kurumi Tokisake & Origami Tobiichi from Date A Live, lots of To LOVEru girls, Ryoubi from Senran Kagura, and a reclining Emilia from Re;Zero. • Man, we sure do get a lot of prize fairs. We’re already on the 42nd! This seasonal event gives us a look at all the upcoming prize figures that we’ll be seeing go up for order in the next few weeks. And, you know, the impossible to get ones like Ichiban Kuji that you have to hunt down and sell your soul for. The lineup here was pretty much the same as what we’ve been seeing recently. Classics like Evangelion, Dragonball Z, Fate/Stay Night and Vocaloid combined with newer phenomenon like IDOLM@STER, the Monogatari series, Attack on Titan, and Kantai Collection. There were some surprises, like the amazing Madoka & Homura set. Oh, and for once, no Miku–but a Rin & Len! Check ’em all out in the gallery. [via Hobby Maniax, & Hobbylog]

  • We all know that Good Smile loves a good holiday themed Nendoroid, like Santa Miku or Halloween Miku or Summer Miku… okay, so maybe they really like holiday-themed Miku Nendoroids. But apparently they can do other Nendos too in Santa hats, as we saw with Northern Princess… and now with Eren from Attack On Titan! Sadly, this is not a full Nendoroid, it’s just a Petit. And it’s exclusive. Sadly not even exclusive by itself, but with the Attack on Titan Vol.18 Limited Edition. Manga, not Bluray, so he’s only ¥1,800… plus fees. Sigh. I’d much prefer a little Petit set with the whole cast in Christmas outfits! [via GSC]

  • Levi is definitely the most popular boy from Attack on Titan, at least in terms of figures. It seems like everyone was rushing out to make a version of him, even companies that rarely touch male characters. But the vast majority of them seemed to feature him just… standing around, looking moody. And one of the most dynamic ones had a totally disturbing base. Thankfully for Levi fans, there ended up being a small handful of dynamic figures (sans scary head bases), with one of the more notable being Kotobukiya’s take on him to go along with their Eren (review) and Mikasa (review). Today we’re reviewing the last of this trio, so hit the jump and let’s get started!

  • Attack on Titan has been a veritable juggernaut in the figure world these past few years. We’re getting versions of seemingly every major character, including all the boys! But of course any female character is going to get the most attention, so you have the most figure options when it comes to Mikasa. But finding one with a unique and dynamic pose as well as a face that matches the anime/manga? That’s been a little more difficult, since most of the “action” poses are her about to jump, and one of the most dynamic ones kind of looks nothing like her. Enter Kotobukiya, whose male-focused ArtFX J line got its first female character in Mikasa! Since, you know, the rest of the gang  (Eren and Levi) were in the J line, it’d be kind of weird if she was a totally different classification. But this was the Mikasa figure that seemingly had it all: great pose, super interesting base, accurate face, and of course well priced. But does she live up to expectations? Hit the jump to find out!

  • This year at Toy Fair we already took a closer look at lots of Good Smile Company & Co’s goods: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Statues, Nendoroid Elsa, figma Sakura, figma Kirito, Nendoroid Mario, and Red Hood Miku. But they had tons more, and from many companies! It wasn’t just the usual umbrella there, but all the companies that they sell overseas including Gecco and Kaiyodo. The focus was definitely on American-friendly licenses and figures: lots of game merchandise, a ton of figmas and Nendoroids, and popular series like Fairy Tail and Kill la Kill. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Medicom sure has been milking Attack on Titan to the limits in their Real Action Hero line. They’ve done pretty much all of the main cast (though no POTATO GIRL what gives), and now it’s time for… alternate versions! Which I bet you thought would be cleaning ones, but apparently Medicom wants Levi to put on his suit and tie (suit and tie suit and tie). We’ve seen haughty chair Levi in figure form before, but being able to pose him is a whole different thing. I mean, you can cross his legs either way. I KNOW RIGHT? I honestly think he’ll look totally out of place when not in the chair, which kind of makes the whole “action figure” part useless but it’s not like I could get him anyway: I’d bet a lot of money that this will be an exclusive. • Good Smile Company announced that they’d be doing the main 3 from Attack on Titan a while ago, and so far we’ve seen two completed: Mikasa and Eren. Levi honestly seems to be the most popular so I was a bit surprised that they waited so long on him, but I guess they’re saving the best for last? And by “the best” I mean… his base. I guess we could talk about the crisp sculpting and perfect paint but the base dear lord how high were they when they thought that up?! It’s going to give me serious nightmares, do not want. • Prize Fairs are always so exciting. I probably should put my love of prize figures behind me, but they always reel me back in with new goodies! I mean, look at that header. Chock-full of stuff I absolutely have to own. We’ve got another Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor, Evangelion Q figures, Sailor Pluto & Chibi Moon, tons of Kantai Collection prizes… and that’s only scratching the surface! In the gallery you’ll find Puzzle & Dragon, IDOLM@STER, Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru, Knights of Sidonia (not the song, though boy is that confusing), Sword Art Online, Girlfriend, Amagi Brilliant Park, Attack on Titan… and more, of course! Check them out below. [via Hobby Maniax & Dengeki]
