Shining Blade Archive

  • Vertex used to make big, ambitious figures. They bust onto the scene with the entry plug Evangelion figures, after all! But recently their “make every figure have huge boobs” hasn’t seemed to be working so well, and production has definitely slowed down. They only had 4 figures on display at Wonder Festival, and two of them (the Shining Blade Sakuya bikini figures) were just color variations! They also had the weird Christmas Sonico out, along with Mitsumi Gijou from Tokyo Necro. Sadly, still no Noel or the new Selvaria. They did have an announcement for a bikini elf girl with art that looks like Tony Taka except it’s actually Tsurusaki Takahiro. Thrilling. [via moeyo]

  • So MegaHobby was, like, 3 days ago but apparently it’s totally time for another event to happen! Because all the companies not at MH had to do something with their time. First up is Vertex, aka “how do boobs work because I’ve never seen a human female.” There are so many hilarious boobs on display! From seasonally appropriate boobage (the Valkyrie Chronicles girls, and Santa Sonico–remember when she had a realistic bust?), to cyber boobage (Purple Heart, whose boobs are trying to escape her body), to the traditional gravity-deftying boobage (Fiona from Border Break!). But there were almost-realistic girls on display too, like Sakuya from Shining Blade. And their announcements, like Noel from Blazblue, are pretty surprising given their usual demographic. Brunhilde from Aoki Kakumei no Valkyria is, however, exactly what I’d expect from them. [via Vertex’s Twitter]

  • Guys, guys… magazine scans are back! We have an actual batch of things that aren’t just “everything MegaHouse is doing that we already knew about!” Like, new figures and stuff! Okay, so it’s more like “pictures with an ungodly amount of flash” rather than, you know, scans, but it’s progress. Maybe one day we’ll be back to the golden days of actual scans. But for now, we’re close enough. This month we’ve got lots of goodies, including actual new figures–like that grown-up Aldra people have always wanted, an alternate Beelzebub from Seven Deadly Sins, and a recolor of Won Pairon from AlphaMax. We’re also getting a look at MegaHouse’s Bulma (she’s in a bunny outfit!) and quite a few figures are painted: MegaHouse’s Seiten, Kotobukiya’s Kirika, the new Thai Queen Racing Miku, and Phat!’s Rin Suzuboki. Check them all out below! [via Figure/GK]

  • I have faith that one day, magazine scans will return to normal. We will get full previews again, containing all of the new teaser images in glorious HD. Sadly, today is not that day. However, we DO have decent scans of some upcoming ladies! Which, hey, is better than nothing. The stars of the show are two new Nitro+ figures: Amakuni’s Astaroth, who I had my doubts about, and Alter’s new Gotou (though why they don’t just re-release the first one I have no clue). They look gorgeous, and while I wasn’t planning on getting either of them I find myself wanting both! Then we’ve got two figures of Yurika Nijino from Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?: a version from Amakuni with a stunning crescent moon base, and a more basic but still cute scaled figure from Di molto bene. Pulling up the rear is Kotobukiya’s Roselinde who, uh, looks just like she did at Wonder Festival, and then we’ve got some KanColle Ichiban Kujis of Suzuya and Kumano. [via Studiokyawn’s Twitter]

  • If there is a current show or franchise you enjoy that’s popular, you can almost always bet that Griffon has something in the works for it. Whether it will actually be good… well, that’s another story. Some of their figures at CharaHobby (that Kirino!) look amazing, others… not so much. We’ve got Sword Art Online, OreImo, Queen’s Blade, Persona, Date A Live, Rozen Maiden, Shining Blade, Sonico, Infinite Stratos,  Dead or Alive, Highschool DxD, Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, Girls und Panzer, Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai and more in the gallery below! • Kotobukiya had a lot going on at Wonder Festival, and as we all know the pictures that come out the fastest during an event usually aren’t the best. Because we want to get everything up in a timely fashion the sacrifice for speed over quality is just part of the news game, but it’s nice to have a closer, detailed look at the figures once the dust has settled! We’ve got all of Koto’s Shining World/Tony Taka girls in the gallery (of course), along with a bevel of swimsuit-clad beauties and, of course, the amazing Black Butler duo. So check them out after the jump! [via Akibahobby]

The other is Lucier from 7th Dragon who is painted and I must admit looks great. But come on, 2 figures? The switch from Yamato to Arcadia did not go well for them. [via Akibahobby]

  • You know, we rarely get a “themed” display from a company so for this, you really have to give Griffon credit. Pretty much all their figures have their butts up in the air. Some of them have their butts facing towards the viewer, but some have butts facing away. Genius! We’ve got Cattleya (side butt) and Alleyne (butt in back) from Queen’s Blade, Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi (butt in front), Frey from Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai (butt in back, bonus boobs on chair), and Leafa (butt in back) & Asuna (all the butt & boobs everywhere). Charlotte is on her knees but almost halfway upright! But some figures actually aren’t kneeling at all! Their giant Kirino is standing, as is giant Kasumi. Sinon is kind of jump-standing, and both of the Shining girls (Sakuya in her autumn-themed outfit and evil robot Xecty aka Kerberos) are totally upright. Then there’s the lone boy person in pants, Souseiseki, but watch out–he’s got scissors to cut some legs off if he feels there aren’t enough kneeling girls around. Then there’s some Sword Art Online Nanoricchi but who really cares [via moeyo & Akibahobby]

  • Kotobukiya’s teasers pretty much gave away all that we’d be seeing at Wonder Festival, but… hey, we still like to see the whole figure! As we suspected there are a whole lot of Tony Taka girls. Daisy’s sister is here, and looking so lovely! Then there’s Roselinde, who looks great in all that armor. The mystery winged figure is a SECOND winged version of Sakuya. But this time it’s back to the name Maxima. That counts as different, right? And, of course, Xiao-Mei and her cat form Rinrin! Then we have a new set of Muv-Luv Alternative girls: Katia Waldheim, Irisdena Bernhard, and Lyz Hohenstein in swimsuits. There is also a teaser for another Shingeki no Bahamut figure! YES! But wait, there’s more. Homura in a kimono… thing, and swimsuit Saber, and another swimsuit figure of… Amane Suou from Grisaia no Kajitsu -LE FRUIT DE LA GRISAIA-. Phew. Oh, and also pink Chun-Li. • Wonder Festival is almost upon us, so it’s time for… teasers! Kotobukiya always has a lot, but it seems like we are only getting 4 right now: and two are figures we already know about! There’s the sculpt for Cu-Poche [edit: Hibiki!], and the sculpt for Sorey from Tales of Zestiria. Then we have two new announcements! They’ll be doing a Saber swimsuit figure and a figure of Rinrin from Shining Blade. So… a Fate and a Shining figure. Shocking! [UPDATE] Another teaser has been released: they’ll be doing Amane Suou from Grisaia no Kajitsu -LE FRUIT DE LA GRISAIA- [UPDATE 2] We have 3 more teasers! One is a confirmation that we’re getting Daisy’s blonde sister, there’s the back of the sculpt for Roselinde, and the other is…mystery wings! What could they be? Well, who knows, it’s literally just a picture of part of a wing. Any guesses? [via Kotobukiya]
