  • Once again, Alter’s event booth is totally dominated by idol girls (and some idol boys!). Oddly enough, I kind of hate watching all those shows but I passionately love the figures. Who knows with these things. And oh boy is this a good year for idol-loving peeps. Their stunning Ranko is painted, along with Sachiko. We’ve got the world’s freaking cutest Anzu Futaba and a sassy as hell Shiki Ichinose. As for Love Live!, there are new figures of Rin Hoshizora and Hanayo Koizumi. For the boys, we have Ai Mikaze and Ranmaru Kurosaki from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ painted and Camus is sculpted. The much-anticipated Okoi from Oboro Muramasa is here, and we have an announcement for Torahime! There was a surprise sculpt for SAO‘s Sinon, the casual Lancer sculpt, Ikumi Mito it painted, and we’ve got a very suggestive maid Lala. Oh, and Santa Alter Saber is on display too! It’s so weird and over the top but I love Christmas figures. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • After Dollfie Dream Asuna, I expected us to be swamped with a lot of Sword Art Online dolls. I mean, the series has had huge success in the figure world, and I thought a DD Leafa would be right behind. But we didn’t get any new announcements, so I assumed that ship had sailed. Well, I was wrong, because here’s Dollfie Dream Sinon–totally out of nowhere, and fully unveiled! I really love her design, but honestly the face sculpt isn’t quite doing it for me here. It’s somehow both too angular and too childish? But I’ve become super picky with DDs, so I’m sure fans will be pleased! [UPDATE] Mio Honda will be joining her! Image in the gallery below–she’s cute, but the outfit is kind of plain. Ranko & Rin spoiled me! [via Volks’ Twitter]

  • Kaitendoh and Lechery are sister companies: think of them like Max Factory and Native. One makes not-smut, the other makes smut. Only, you know, Kaitendoh’s quality can’t even dream as being as good as MF or Native. But they still make figures, so we’re gonna write about them! Kaitendoh only had a few things on hand: their “football” Pochaco, a cool-looking sculpt of Sinon, and Xenovia from Highschool DxD. Then there’s Lechery. The gulag captain-looking fox lady is Ookami-san from their Fairy Tale line. What bedtime stories did they hear as kids?! Then there’s the announcement for ANOTHER Shamsiel Shahal, an absolutely bizarre tentacle girl, and… some topless girls on bikes/scooters? Is this a companion piece to tricycle girl? • Phat! is really the dark horse of the figure world. They’re smaller, sure, and one of GSC’s sister companies, but the giants seem to overshadow them. These past few years, however, they’ve been going at it with everything they’ve got, bringing us interesting licenses and great sculpts. It seems like 2015 will be no exception! The biggest announcement (for me) is my waifu Rise in her Dancing All Night outfit. I LOVE IT! Of course we had some Kantai Colletion in the form of Zuiho, and IDOLMSTER: both Makoto and Yukiho have updates. And while there’s no new Cinderella Girls figures, we have Anastasia coming down the line, along with Million Live’s Yuriko Nanao. There’s tons of other announcements: Angela Balzac (the darling of this WonFes), Sinon, and Fumi Kanno from Devil Survivor 2. What?! Excitement! There are some sculpts too, of course: Yui Mikoze and her elaborate… suit? from Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita and then a pair of girls from Shirohime Quest. And last but not least? A little chibi poseable Momohime!

  • Wonder Festival doesn’t officially start for over an hour, but there are always some early leaks. In this case, Aquamarine is leaking… their entire booth! Which makes things easier for me, so I am not going to complain. And really nothing here is a surprise: there’s the Chris repaint, Mordred who was teased earlier, and two adorable but scantily clad KanColle girls: Yukikaze and Shimakaze. Their gorgeous Sinon is also there, and we’ll update as soon as we have a full picture of her! EDIT: Welp, that was fast! Sinon is in the gallery~ [via dj_potemkin’s Twitter]

  • I really love the design of Sinon from Sword Art Online II, but so far most of her figures have not really done it for me. Well, except for the Embrace Japan one, but that was an exclusive so we don’t talk about it. And now, out of the blue, Chara-Ani is making a figure of her! And I did kind of like their first Sinon. So, is it the one for me? I’m just gonna cut to the chase: no. Never ever. Basically, she’s leaning over and trying to fix a wedgie. I find it kind of weird when ecchi poses mash up with normal characters. Like, if this was a Tony illustration? Fine. But it feels kind of uncomfortable with Sinon. Also, oh god, the shorts. They literally look like a diaper. And her butt is totally flat. Why make a pose like this if you’re going to cop out on the details? And her price? ¥12,000. For a 1/8 scale figure. Ooookay there, Chara-Ani. Good luck with that. [via Chara-Ani]

  • Aquamarine didn’t exactly have a ton of new stuff for Miyazawa Model, but it’s enough for us to bring it to you! Mainly because their sculpt for Sinon from Sword Art Online II is looking amazing. I mean, look at that detail! It’s sculpted by Toda Satoshi, so it’s no surprise how fantastic she looks. Aquamarine doesn’t have the best track record (their terrible Chaika, cough) but I am hoping they pull out a great paintjob for her. Then we’ve got the newly painted Laura Bodewig, who I have mixed feelings on. Well, mostly negative ones: her hip sculpt is very strange and I’m not loving her face. Sigh, one less Laura for my collection. [via Hobbylog]

  • Chara-Ani has really been on a Sword Art Online kick recently. They recently announced an idol Asuna, and they really seem to love these girls in swimsuits: we had the large scale Asuna and the teeny 1/10 Leafa. Seems like Leafa will be getting a companion. Yup, they’re adding Sinon to the line, a character who seems red hot right now in terms of popularity. Of course the pose and blow up animal reminds me of Konomi, but since that’s one of my guilty pleasure figures I’m not going to complain! [via Chara-Ani]

  • Recently I’ve had to become a very picky collector. One figure per character, unless it’s someone I really love, and we rarely have more than 8 figures per month. If you’ve seen our loot shots, you know that this is REALLY cutting down hard for us. But of course the version of a character I love the most usually rends out to be the most expensive or, perish the thought, an exclusive. Well, we’ve got a 2-for-1 here. Embrace Japan’s Sinon is a hefty ¥13800, which is almost justified by her scale (1/6) and height (over 9 inches kneeling!), but she’s also… sob… an exclusive. Which means with fees and shipping she’ll probably cost you a little under $190. BUT WHY? Pre-Order At: Big In Japan, Nippon-Yasan [via Dengeki]

  • It seems like now that Good Smile Company has figured out how to make crawling Nendoroid bodies, we’re going to be seeing a whole lot of them. That and the double-jointed arms. I do hope this means we won’t see any more Super Poseable Nendos… god, those were a pain in the ass to paint. Anyway, today we’re taking a look at Sinon from Sword Art Online II! I’ve gone cold turkey on Nendoroids, but man am I tempted to order her. The color palette–army green clothing with icy blue hair–is wonderfully unique, and her embarrassed face is to die for. Add in her sniper rifle and the cool effect parts and I’m totally sold! Orders open on the 4th [via Kahotan]
