Has Bandai always been so deathly slow? I feel like when I started collecting they were a bit faster, but now it takes them half a year to go from fully colored prototype to orders. For example, we saw the S.H.Figuarts for Cure Peace totally done back in October, yet they are just showing off her promo shots! What gives?
Like the Chibi-Arts, this figure is painfully cute and they’ve given her the most adorable figures. Take note, Max Factory–these are the expressions I want, not a million closed-eyed serene versions. Sadly, like all Bandai figures, she’s overpriced: ¥4,200, and all she comes with are some extra expressions. For shame! Price your stuff more reasonably and maybe it won’t all end up in the bargain bin…

While the expansive Precure franchise doesn’t get much attention in the figure community, Bandai is to Precure like bread to butter. They pop out so many figures from it they almost make up for the fact that higher-end manufacturers generally refuse to give us pretty scales of the girls. At Tamashii Nations they showed off a whole bunch of figures of the bubbly blonde Cure Peace, and now they are finally coming up for order.
Sadly, because Bandai loves torturing fans just as much as MegaHouse, the Cure Peace Chibi-Arts will be an exclusive. Boo! With a relatively steep retail for a chibi (¥4,200) proxy fees put her strictly out of my reach. Which is a shame, because this was the first Chibi-Art I’ve been interested in since C.C (who I picked up for the ridiculous price of ¥1,200–hooray bargain bins!).

We’ve looked at the Lelouch, Sailor Moon, Guilty Gear, and Cure Peace S.H.Figuarts & D-Arts, but to no one’s surprise there were a ton more on hand at Tamashii Nations 2012. They had Hakumen from BlazBlue, Nagisa Motomiya from AKB0048, Mei Misaka and Izumi Akazawa from Another, Golden Darkness, Alicia from God Eater Burst, the Durarara!! boys we saw at Dengeki’s 20th, and Aoi Ichikawa from Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger. Check them all out and more in the gallery!

We’ve already taken a look at some of the highlights of Tamashii Nations, but there’s of course a lot more at the event! Their Chibi-Arts line seems to be growing in popularity, and we’ve already seen the Sailor Moon one they had on hand. Also on display were the teased Ja’far and Sinbad ones from Magi, Wild Tiger and child Barnaby Brooks Jr. from Tiger & Bunny, Meer Campbell, Boa Hancock, Mei Misaki, and Kise Yayoi to go with Cure Peace. I am excited to see Meer in the lineup, though at the moment she looks a bit…. possessed.

So Tamashii Nations isn’t actually happening for another day, but we’re getting news early. Apparently everything is all set up and Bandai is taking news leaks into their own hands: first we saw Sailor Moon, and now we’re getting some new Smile Precure! figures. Okay, not as exciting as Sailor Moon, but still adorable.
It seems we’ll be getting some scaled figures (probably Figuarts ZERO) of Cure Peace and Kise Yayoi. We’ve gotten lots of action figures from this franchise but not many pre-painted, so it’s a nice change of pace for Bandai.
[UPDATE] Dengeki brought us a nice up-close shot of the static figure, along with news of both a S.H.Figuarts AND a Chibi-Arts of Cure Peace!

For a country with so few naturally blonde citizens, Japan sure does love pale-haired girls! So it’s no surprise that there are a ton of blonde ladies showing up in garage kit form at the upcoming Summer Wonder Festival. We already showed you a few Cure Peaces, but there’s now even more! There are also quite a few figures of Fate Testarossa: some of them great, some of them… not so great. Primal Heart’s gorgeous Saber Lily will also be making a re-appearance, along with a very cute chibi Saber Extra!
There are also not one but two kits of Akita Neru (one by the same sculptor who did that crazy VN02 Miku), so her popularity seems to be on the rise. Maybe we’ll even get a PVC figure of her at Wonder Festival! My favorite of the batch is the kit of Katsuragi from Senran Kagura, who has such a wonderfully crisp sculpt. She’s also sculpted by the same circle that did the Hibari that was picked up by Phat! Company, so we might have a chance to own her. Check them all out in the gallery!

Usually we get a flood of garage kit information right before an event, but circles and sculptors seem to be gearing up a little early this time. Summer Wonder Festival isn’t until July 29th, but already we have quite a few nice kits lined up for release! Unsurprisingly, Miku is the star of the show once again–if there’s one thing you can count on, it’s that there will always be new (and adorable) Mikus available. Smile Precure! also seems popular, with two kits of the adorable Cure Peace already. We’ve also got kits from Aquarion Evol, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, and Nisemonogatari, along with a truly stunning Kuroyukihime from the same circle that brought us that amazing caketop Mami. Check them all out in the gallery!
