  • We saw a lot of individual galleries from Good Smile Company this Toy Fair: figma Samus, the scaled Link, Batman & Superman Nendoroids, figma Yugi, the Zelda Nendoroid, and the Genos Nendoroid. But of course they brought so much more to the event! Like the amazingly goofy art-based figmas, the just-arrived Nendoroid Kirby (who was popular enough to get a re-release literally the day he came out), many of their Nintendo-based Nendoroids, and beautiful scaled figures like Dark Magician Girl and some of their many Mikus. We even got to see Zwyer’s Legend Of Korra figures. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Ahh, it’s that time of the, uh, season again. Since Prize Fairs just kind of happen all the time. The big trend this time around seems to be Sword Art Online II, which is really not surprising. We’ve even, finally, got some prizes of Kirito! Who seems to be a girl now. Don’t ask me, I just write this stuff up. And while the hottest current title, KanColle, didn’t have any physical prizes Taito is planning a ton: Wo-Class, Raijun Chi-kyuu, Senkan Ta-kyuu and Juujun Ri-kyuu. THREE of these boat girls have not been picked up by any other companies, giving them first dibs on the designs. Then we have the usual: Evangelion, Love Live! School Idol, Attack on Titan, OreImo, and an expected Black Butler figure since that seems to be hot again. Heck, there’s even boys from Tokyo Ghoul! Check all that and more out in the gallery below. • It’s been quite a while since we featured head-swapping fun on the site: in fact, Headswapping Figures part 2 was in last November! And the first a year before that. So I suppose it’s a once-yearly feature, which is like… totally intentional. Yup. This time we’ve got a whole host of amazing figures. Everything from sexy (Belldandy maids, anyone?), to amazing (I want the Millhiore-Kobato mashup in the header so hard), to downright absurd (Eevee as a bodybuilder). There’s a little something for everyone, even Star Wars fans and Kamen Rider aficionados, so check them out after the jump! [via 2chan]

  • We’ve already shown you a few of the more memorable pieces at Good Smile Company’s booth: Belldandy & Holly Bell, the Attack On Titan goods, 7th Dragon Miku, Bayonetta, and Nyaruko. But of course there are more than just a few figures in a booth as big as Good Smile’s! They had lots of Madoka merchandise as you’d expect, in fact it was almost their whole lineup! Nendoroids and scaled figures a plenty. In fact there were tons of Nendoroids from a lot of different shows and series as well as figmas and scaled figures. We’ve got Vocaloids, Samus,  Dangan Ronpa, and a few of their past exclusives. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Soniko is a busty girl, there’s no denying that. But there’s a difference between handling it tastefully and giving her a figure that’s a caricature of itself. When FREEing first unveiled their Bunny Soniko I was happy but a bit aprehensive since her bust looked uncharacteristically large. Well, she’s painted now and… ouch. Sadly, the rest of her is really nice. She’s got a cute face and pose, and the outfit looks great. But they severely botched her figure. Her breasts are, like, A+ huge, yet she’s got very slim thighs and hips which is definitely not the Soniko we know and love. I think many other companies, like Native and Orchid Seed, have kept her full figure without going overboard on the bust area. FREEing, why?! And she’s 1/4 scale, so it’s not exactly a tiny detail you can overlook on a shelf. I suppose the one positive thing I can say about this is at least she doesn’t have floating balloons for boobs. • Much like our March Loot, April’s haul was delayed by an odd error on AmiAmi’s end. So far, that’s three out of four months this year that they’ve managed to mess stuff up. If it weren’t for their fantastic price cuts, we’d be moving elsewhere… except, really, there’s nowhere else to go! Sadly, it seems like every online retailer has managed to mess up one of our orders in a rather spectacular fashion. Order flubs aside, I found myself less excited for April’s order than previous months. Honestly, I’m not really sure why–maybe it’s because with all the delays, I kind of forgot what was going to be in it. So were we let down or were there some wonderful surprises in this month’s loot? Hit the jump to find out!

  • After a rather lackluster group of pre-orders last week, this week’s offerings seem practically bountiful. With no more big events, manufacturers had more time to focus on putting figures up for order, and it definitely showed. We had some lovely scaled figures go up, one of which the community has been anticipating for over a year, and some really interesting poseable releases–including a surprise Nendoroid announcement! So hit the jump and check them all out.

  • Good Smile Company has been trying to do different things with Nendoroids recently. And not just girls who aren’t in school uniforms! There’s been a move towards unique and no-standard character models, and Sonic the Hedgehog definitely fits that trend. I mean, his head is pretty much one solid piece, with little room for the faceplates and alternate parts Nendos are known for. Of course, that doesn’t stop him from coming with a ton of stuff. He has “expressions” so to speak–the bottom part of his face can be swapped out for a happy, annoyed or grinning expressions. And he comes with a ridiculous amount of accessories: gems, rings, extra lives, and a gate that opens and closes! There’s tons of potential to recreate scenes from Sonic’s many games, and I am sure fans will adore this figure. He goes up for sale tomorrow and should be released in April! [via Mikatan]

  • Last night, Mikatan did one of her “letter corner” posts. Usually these are not very interesting, as it’s just basic questions about the figures, people asking for a re-release, or praise for the company. But this time, lots of interesting tidbits sneaked in! Several Nendoroids that we already knew about, like Sonic and Menma, got officially confirmed, but there were a few sneaky announcements of new things. First, that Phat! Company is indeed doing an Ika Musume Nendoroid! There was a secret sculpting competition a while back, and several sculptors showed off their versions, but there was no official confirmation from Good Smile Company. Well, now there is! Phat! Company has been doing a decent job with Nendoroids, so I am excited to see how she will come out. Then a sly re-release of Nendoroid Date Masamune was announced as well, and it was hinted that the Cheerful Japan Kaito will be next in line for order. The Amagami Nendoroids are also going up soon, even though we haven’t even seen prototypes! But the best news came in a letter that asked about the Madoka Magica Nendoroids. We have only seen 3 of the 5 girls in Nendoroid form, but Mikatan confirmed that Sayaka and Kyoko will be added to the lineup! That’s a lot of information for one post! We don’t have any pictures of the new announcements yet, but all of the pictures from the actual post are in the gallery below–including a moe-tastic shot of their Makise with Lat-type Miku’s red glasses!
