Space Battleship Yamato Archive

  • I tend to think of MegaHouse as a company that thrives on nostalgia. If it’s a new series, they hardly give it the time of day: it’s all about our childhood shows and long-running anime. So imagine my surprise at their big MegaHobby announcement: Yuri on Ice figures! If you told me they would be the first to hop on what I’m sure will be an insane figure hype-train, I would have laughed, but here we are. Of course they had a ton of nostalgia going on too. Their full Pokemon line was out, looking impressive, and showing off the Ash & Charizard figure we’ve all been waiting for. Plus a huge Digimon one too! Sadly, the new Android 18 is just as tacky and inaccurate as the first, but it’s kind of countered by a non-boobytastic Tsunade. Also a recolor of their gorgeous Elf!We’ve got Sailor Moon, Zatch Bell, One Piece, Naruto, D. Gray-Man, Space Battleship Yamato, Gundam, and so much more. Check them all out in the gallery! • Since MegaHouse is basically the founder and host of MegaHobby, you can bet that they brought a lot of figures to the event. I mean, it is their event. We’ve seen the Digimon lineup, but there’s more! So much more. Like their Sailor Moon Rei & Ami, who are as you’d expect: mediocre, but not so abjectly terrible that hardcore fans will pass up an order. They also announced that Naru (!!) will be joining the line.Their Gundam & Yamato girls lines are on a roll as we saw in scans, and they had tons on hand including the gorgeous Akira Yamamoto and Fumino Hoshino’s fabulous spandex shorts. And the next Gundam girl? Aida Surgan! The small 1/10 girls line was on display as well, with Hiyori Iki from Noragami, Hisa Takegi and Misaka Mikoto. What about their usual lineup of boys boys boys? We’ve got them in droves! Naruto, Itachi & Kakashi (in Hokage mode!) from The Last Naruto movie. Like One Piece? There’s Killer, Zoro, Koala, Eustass Kid, Sabo, and Mr.2 Bon Kure. Plus those basketball boys everyone loves! Oh, and we can’t show you this, but MegaHouse is FINALLY working on the DragonBall Z cast in a larger scale: Goku and Vegeta will be first up. • While MegaHouse has been working through the expansive Space Battleship Yamato cast, they’ve managed to miss some of the most popular characters both male and female. Which is odd, since their whole line is really focused on the girls. With no Starsha. What even. But Bandai is here to save the day… and our wallets, hopefully, since this is a Figuarts ZERO line! They’ll be doing Starsha, Yuki Mori, Wolf Frakken,  Desler Soutou, and Kodai Susumu! Now if only they’d do some Harlock figures, I know we’re all dying for a decent Emeraldas. • On this cold November day, MegaHouse and Alter ask us a question humanity has pondered since the dawn of time (or… education): are you hot for teacher? I mean, I guess if your teacher was from anime you would be, since it’s a plot point that cannot be overlooked. Does having a clipboard make you a teacher? This is anime, where cooks can become robot pilots, so probably yes. Anyway, I used to really like Alpha x Omega (MegaHouse and Alter’s collaborative company), but I’ve recently fallen out of love with them since they make… kind of boring figures. This, though, looks promising! Though of course the paint will make the final call for me. [via IoryHamon’s Twitter]

  • The nice thing about magazine scans is how nice and neat and predictable they are. Scans go up in cleanly scanned images, usually 3 to 4 in a single scan. I translate the info (unless, like today, they go up after I’ve turned in for tonight), chop up the images, write up the post, add some witty commentary (you know you love it) and bam, it’s done. But today we’re getting, uh, what must be half of the scans. And they’re not actually scans… they’re icky quality photos. What a story, Mark. But of course there’s still figures! Some figures. Mostly of Shining World girls. A LOT of Shining World girls. And, surprisingly Fairy Tail characters! Hyakka makes an appearance, along with 7 Sins, so let’s hit the jump and get started.

  • MegaHouse had figures at CharaHobby aside from the new Nami? Why yes indeed they did! Do you mean to insinuate that I wrote Nami up just so I could fulfill my lifelong dream of writing a post in Shibe?!?!? Wow such accusations. So uncool. Anyway, they didn’t really have a lot: Juuzo Okita and Makoto Harada from Spaceship Yamato along with Aladdin and a lovely figure of Nefertari Vivi that’s currently set for a January release. Oh and DIGIMON BOYS PAINTED HELLZ YEAH. Can you tell I’m excited and hope they do every cast member ever especially the mons? [via Akibahobby]

  • Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen. So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

  • The first month of the new year means the first magazine scans of the new year! You’d think they would be a bit lackluster because companies are gearing up for their Wonder Festival reveals–but you’d be mistaken! There are many lovely ladies here as usual, including a rather stellar batch from Kotobukiya and a extra scary Cattleya, along with some nasty exclusive surprises. Check them out after the jump! [UPDATE] Updated with a few stragglers.
