Steins;Gate Archive

  • Ah, AlphaMax. Hitting us Tony Taka fans in the wallet every time. This year they had… a lot of Tony Taka on display! Along with figures based on the art of Yuran, Misaki Kurehito, Inue Shinsuke, Nekoume, and more. They also had some safe for work things on display! Like the Saber/Saber EXTRA combo in the header, Makise from Steins;Gate, and the surprise reveal of Zashunina Yahakui from Seikai Suru Kado. [UPDATE] Added a few more figures to the gallery! • AlphaMax has been pretty quiet recently. We haven’t had a ton of announcements or pre-orders from them, and they aren’t showing up to most major events. But perhaps that’s because they were saving all their news for one mega-reveal! We’ve got 7 new announcements, along with their Tony Taka cat girl and the new Kizuki Aruchu figure painted. On to the horde of announcements! We’ve got Makise Kurisu, three new Tony Taka original characters, another figure of Matsuri Tougetsu illustrated by Misaki Kurehito, Ayano Anemori from Ragna Strike Angels, and last but not least the sculpt for Bunnyfuku no Shoujo which has to be the cutest figure name. • Miyazawa Model Exhibition is one of those “in-between” events. Nestled right in the middle of Summer WonFest and Fall MegaHobby, it’s a chance for companies to… not really show off much new. Let’s be honest, they save the big stuff for the big event, so we don’t get a ton of news from Miyazawa. But Good Smile Company & co brought, like, literally everything they’re working on (that we know about). Just a TON of stuff. Most of it was things we knew about, but we do have some updates: their lovely Felia is finally painted (and, well, no as pretty as I expected), Nendoroid Sheeda from Fire Emblem is finished, figma Yugi showed up, and basically we got a ton of other paint updates. The star of the show was definitely Mebae Miku: hopefully her orders open soon! [via Akibahobby]

  • FREEing is always up and down in terms of quality, but man do they make a lot of things I want. We’ll start with their bunny girls: did you think the long line of 1/4 scale Infinite Stratos girls was the end? Nope, they are doing… a second line, with all the girls, standing in bunny costumes. So it’s different. There’s also a pair of Tony Taka bunnies (!!), their bunny Yoko, Koneko Toujou, Chitoge, and Index. Yukata girls? We got ’em! The Steins;Gate and Girls und Panzer lines are sculpted, along with Aegis. Oh, and there’s a creepy Mikage Kuroki from Maid-san to Boin Damashii. There’s tons of new stuff, like a Miku with super awesome hair, a swimsuit Miku & Luka, and a lovely Isla from Plastic Memories. And then we have a… lot of announcements. Hestia, Luka, Angela Balzac, Meiko Shiraki, and Nodoka Haramura. Want more bunny girls? Brace yourselves. They’ll be doing Hakufu Sonsaku and Shiryuu Chouun from Ikkitousen (FINALLY continuing that line), Momo and Golden Darkness, Yuki Nagato, and Alisa from God Eater. Damn! • We have already seen a lot from Good Smile Company this Toy Fair: Kill la Kill figures, Nintendo, Berserk, and Attack on Titan, along with in-depth galleries of the Titan statue, Tiki, the Motoko & Zombie figmas, Ryuuko, and… a car? But they had a huge booth this year jam-packed with goodies, so we have a lot more to show you! Many of their Sword Art Online figures were on display, including the new GSC Asuna, who is totally gorgeous! I passed on her pre-orders but seeing the figure in person has me re-considering this. Some Wonder Festival announcements were there, like the Pyramid Head and Bubble Head Nurse figmas, Lucy & Natsu from the Fairy Tail line, and Ninja Storm figmas. Then there was a lovely display of some of their older figures, like the Black Rock Shooter animation line and the amazing Love Is War Miku Hatsune. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • We’ve already shown you a few of the more memorable pieces at Good Smile Company’s booth: Belldandy & Holly Bell, the Attack On Titan goods, 7th Dragon Miku, Bayonetta, and Nyaruko. But of course there are more than just a few figures in a booth as big as Good Smile’s! They had lots of Madoka merchandise as you’d expect, in fact it was almost their whole lineup! Nendoroids and scaled figures a plenty. In fact there were tons of Nendoroids from a lot of different shows and series as well as figmas and scaled figures. We’ve got Vocaloids, Samus,  Dangan Ronpa, and a few of their past exclusives. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Male figmas are few and far between, despite fans constantly pleading for more. Considering how many male anime leads there are it’s not like Max Factory doesn’t have a whole slew of options, but for some reason they continue to deny that male figmas will sell well! Thankfully this trend seems to be reversing: between Kiritsugu last year, the revival of figma Archer and of course the announcement of Okarin male figmas are finally getting some attention! However, Okarin probably wouldn’t have seen production if not for the fact that he’s meant to be paired with White Coat Makise–who is pretty adorable, so I have no issues on that front. Sadly, like many recent figmas, Okabe doesn’t come with a ton. There’s his cellphone, a raygun, and 3 faces–which may seem like a lot by comparison but come on where are my damn gel bananas. He goes up for order tonight and retails for ¥4,000 with a December release. And good news for fans, the original Makise figma is getting re-released along with him! [via the figma blog]

  • Summer Wonder Festival 2013 takes place on July 28th, so it’s still a ways off, but for some reason Good Smile Company & co have decided to show off their exclusives way early this time around! Oddly enough, the summer exclusives mirror the winter ones almost exactly a resculpt of a popular GSC scaled figure, a popular character Nendoroid, two IDOLM@STER Cinderella girls Nendoroids, Cinderella girl Petit Nendoroids, and a Phat! Company chibi. This time the scaled figure is a resculpt of GSC’s Makise from several years ago: this time around she’s blushing, wearing a white coat and holding a Dr. Pepper bottle. She’ll retail for ¥7,500. The two figmas, Mika & Rika Jougasaki are even cuter than winter’s additions! JUST LOOK AT THEM. Dear god. They are ¥3,500 each, and worth every penny. I mean, they actually have accessories. It’s a miracle. The Nendoroid is Nyaruko in a Alice in Wonderland-style maid outfit, which I like better than her first getup. She will also be ¥3,500. The Petit set features Ranko Kanzaki, Uzuki Shimamaru and Mika Jougasaki, all in special outfits and with a cute little stage: the whole set retails for ¥4,500. Last and, yeah, kind of least is the Phat! Company giant chibi soft vinyl figure of Kirari Moroboshi for ¥4,500. Of course all of these will be at the event, but orders will open online on the 28th of July and run until August 5th with November releases… hopefully. [via GSC]

  • Makise Kurisu is, in a way, not nearly as popular as I expected her to be: sure, she got two nice figures (one from Good Smile Company and one from Kotobukiya) along with a doll, a figma and three Nendoroids. But not much else in the way of merchandise! And for the lead heroine from a Nitro+ based anime, that’s nearly nothing. So what gives? Well, at least we are getting a little more now with the recently announced White Coat figma! She does come with some cool stuff (just kidding!), though pretty much no accessories: that’s right, no gel bananas ;~;. She does have a happy face, and embarrassed face and a stoic face. And… that’s it! Good job, Max Factory! They really are slacking off recently. Oh, and we have a preview of the Okarin figma as well! If you were expecting a low price because of her utter lack of extras, prepare to be disappointed: she will retail for ¥3,800 with a November release. [via the figma blog]

  • After a few rather lackluster months, the Hobby Japan scans are back on track! We have a pretty action-packed lineup for you this time around, with almost twice as many figures as we’ve been seeing the past few months. Though let’s start up with a bit of bad news: there’s rumors from these scans that figma Strength has been cancelled! Only rumors, but anyway, let’s get onto the good. We’ve got lots of ladies for you, and finally the return of Good Smile Company & co in the scaled figure section. I don’t know why they went missing for so long but oh well, they’re back now with some shiny goodies. We’ve also got not one but TWO devils from the Seven Sins lineup, which is awesome because for the past few months it’s been nothing but art. So without any more delays, hit the jump and let’s get right to the good stuff!
