  • Circus Posterus had that mystery Skelve at DesignerCon that didn’t get a decent reveal before the event, but now we’re finally getting a look at it! A little late, perhaps, but thankfully there will be other releases of this cutie. In fact, both the 4-Legged Masao Skelve (run of 66, $250) and the Mini Masao (run of 100, $66) in the ‘Midnight’ colorway will be coming to the Circus Annual show on December 7th. There’s also a super-rare GID mask chase for the Mini, and if you want a shot at one of those the release will be lottery-only in the Circus Posterus forums. This might be my favorite Skelve colorway yet–I just love the sparkles! [via Circus Posterus’ Blog]

  • DesignerCon is this weekend, but people are still making announcements for what they’ll be bringing! Circus Posterus already has the sofubi Stingy Jack and Calliope Jackalope coming, but apparently they wanted a vinyl trio as we’re also getting the first release of Chris Ryniak’s Stinky Ginger which is, you guessed it, an angry piece of ginger! And apparently a girl. This ‘Raw Stinky’ colorway is a lovely unpainted green shade. You know, while I love all of the artists at Circus Posterus I haven’t been really wowed by the sofubi line so far. I think some of the charm that’s in their resin pieces was somehow lost in the transition, though it’s hard to tell with Stinky Ginger since this is an unpainted release. This will be a run of 65 pieces retailing at $95 each (ouch!), and like the rest half will be at the event (booth #500) while the other half will be split between Tomenosuke and Stranger Factory. • Last year at SDCC, I fell in love with Gary Ham’s Wooper Looper (and not just because it reminds me of Wooper, my favorite Pokemon)! The cheerful yet a bit creepy sculpt, done by Chauskoskis, is both enchanting and more than a bit unnerving. Since then, I’ve been waiting patiently for a blue colorway like the one on the plush version. However, the first release was hot pink and not entirely to my liking. While this one isn’t blue (yet!), I find it very appealing: milky white skin with deep green & orange accents, just in time for Halloween. There are only 30 of this ‘Dead Wood’ colorway, and it’s an exclusive to Stranger Factory. Gary Ham has a show there called, unsurprisingly, Dead Wood, and Wooper Looper’s release will coincide with it on October 5th. If you want one, be sure to sign up for Stranger Factory‘s preview list for the full scoop once they release this critter into the wild! But don’t expect him to stick around for long. • I do tend to rag on the vinyl scene a bit (mostly for outrageous prices), but one company that will always be in my heart is Circus Posterus, maker of the creepiest (yet somehow adorable) toys around! They usually do gorgeous resin pieces, but now they’re venturing into the world of sofubi with Brandt Peter’s Stingy Jack. Part man, part pumpkin, all awesome! Stingy Jack is readying for a two part release: there are 120 pieces, and they will be split between Tomenosuke for Japanese customers and Stranger Factory for US customers. The Tomenotsuke orders will open at 12AM JST on August 25th, but all orders with a North American address will be cancelled so your best bet is the Stranger Factory release which will take place at 1PM PST on the 26th and they won’t be in any online store: you can send email requests to purchase at exactly 1 to strangerfactorysales@gmail.com. Don’t email before! He’s $95 a pop, a bit expensive but worth it for such a cool and unique design. [via CP’s Blog]
