Well, this happened a lot faster than I was expecting! There was a very, very long gap between the announcement of Street Fighter Bishoujos and the reveal of Chun Li, so I kind of assumed we’d have at least a few months to wait before we saw Cammy–even though we’ve already gotten a peek at her art. However, it seems like that big wait might have been over licensing issues or some such, because they certainly didn’t wait a long time to get Cammy sculpted… or painted! That’s right, this is a 2 for 1 teaser: we won’t be getting the usual sculpt-then-art for her, but an all at once reveal… and probably in the very near future, based on how crisp the sculpt & shading look in this sneak peek.

I’ve kind of been dreading the Street Fighter Bishoujos since they were announced years ago. Why, you ask? Because personally I find the characters the tackiest of the fighting girls. Crazy, right? I don’t even know why, since certainly the argument can be made for other games *cough*DOA*cough* but I just… really don’t like Street Fighter. And come on, with already super sexed-up characters can we really trust Shunya?
As it turns out–maybe! At least for Chun-Li. Not so much for Cammy… hopefully Juri comes out nice. I haven’t really been head over heels for Chun-Li since her sculpt got revealed but she looks SO much better in person. And for everyone complaining about her face: this isn’t the final one! Changes will definitely made before she comes out.

Video games are a great pass time for many of us, but when we’re not playing video games, it’s great to have figures of our favorite characters to look at! We already showed you that Cammy and Juri are next up in the Street Fighter world, but before they hit the shelves next year, Chun Li will kick her way into stores in February. In the world of Tekken, Ling Xiayou and Jun Kazama were shown off, who will come out in November and March, respectively. After all of the fighting game announcements, it was revealed that the Halo franchise will be seeing its return to the ArtFX line, which many fans will be happy to hear. Last, a Batman 1/10th scale ArtFX+ from Arkham City was shown off along with an announcement that Arkham Origins figures are also in the works.

It was kind of a big deal when Kotobukiya scored the Street Fighter license and added the girls to their Bishoujo line at NYCC 2 years ago, but it’s been slow going since them. In fact, it was just recently that we saw the painted Chun Li (who, by the way, we’ll be taking a closer look at later on at the convention!). It seems like the line’s finally moving a bit faster, because we have two pieces of news for you.
The first is the art for Cammy: if you’re a fan of hers, I’m sure you’re probably pleased. Me… not so much. Boob & butt pose, oh my! Cammy, is your spine a turret?! I’ve never been a fan of hers so I didn’t really expect to be excited by the art. However I am looking forward to the new announcement: Juri will be the third girl in the lineup!

Getting ready for NYCC this week and weekend? Well, Kidrobot will be there again with quite a few things in tow as well to fulfill your collecting needs… or not. First up is a new 6″ Homer in a Day of the Dead outfit, who will be available Thursday for $49.99. Basically, it’s the same as the version already out, except in a black suit instead of a white suit. Next up is a 3″ gold figure of Ryu from Street Fighter who will retail for $14.99 and most likely become an instant collector’s item like the other gold Street Fighter pieces. If toys aren’t your thing though (why are you reading this blog then, but that’s besides the point), a new Mishka Keep Watch Labbit beanie will be available just in time for the cold weather for $35.00.
But wait, there’s more! It seems even less people are still interested in vinyl figure collecting than previously thought as — wait for it — their SDCC exclusives will be available at NYCC. Yes, you read that right, the glow in the dark Mishka Keep Watch Labbit ($99.99) and hat will be available along with the glow in the dark Locodanta 8″ Dunny ($99.99). I’m quite surprised that neither of these low run number releases sold out at SDCC, but between the lack of interesting releases and the lack of money due to the economy, it seems collectors are finally done with vinyl. If you want to pick anything up for yourself, though, you can hit up Kidrobot’s booth #607 all four days of the convention.

It seems like only yesterday that Kotobukiya announced they’d be adding video game titles to the Bishoujo line, but in fact it was a long long time ago. In fact, Chun-Li here was announced at NYCC in 2011. Yup, 2 years ago! She was sculpted at this past SDCC, and it seems they were in a bit of a rush to paint her because less than a month later she is nearly ready for orders.
Street Fighter is far from my favorite fighting game, but I appreciate when they take on more muscley, buff ladies and they definitely did Cun-Li justice! Her proportions seem a bit odd from a front angle (tiny hands & huge feet), but when you see her from the side it’s definitely more normal looking. And that makeup! Rock that winged liner, girl.

We’ve already shown you the two new Bishoujos at SDCC, Jun Kazama and Chun-Li, but of course Kotobukiya brought a whole lot more to SDCC! The new Xiaoyu was there, along with many of the other Tekken girls: Alisa, Asuka (review), Jaycee, and Lili!
There’s also a more detailed look at the new girls in the gallery–Chun-Li’s sculpt is growing on me the more I see it. While at first I definitely wasn’t a fan, I love that they went with a more action-y pose. Plus they gave her such a strong and muscled physique, which I always love to see on a figure! You might notice that we snuck the Halo announcement in here because who knows, maybe there will be a Cortana Bishoujo? Pretty please, Kotobukiya?

Kotobukiya always brings a few new Bishoujos to San Diego Comic Con–it’s pretty much a guarantee, and it looks like this time they are going all out on the game line! They’ve got two new girls, along with a vague outline for Street Fighter Bishoujo Cammy who was announced a very long time ago.
In the sculpt department we’ve got the recently announced Jun Kazama, whose simpler pose came out surprisingly nicely. She looks so elegant! Then we have Chun-Li, whose art just got a reveal so I am surprised we are seeing her sculpted this quickly. She looks good, though I am still not a big fan of the pose. She also looks BIG, huge next to the girls she is displayed next to!

It was quite some time ago that Kotobukiya announced that the Street Fighter girls would be joining the Bishoujo line: almost two years ago, in fact, though they’ve been teasing Chun-Li for quite some time and we saw a rough version of her art a little while ago. Well… 6 months ago, but considering when she was announced it seems like only yesterday!
Now we’re getting a polished version, which might mean the sculpt will pop up at SDCC. One can never tell with these things! I’m not a big Street Fighter fan so it’s hard for me to be enthusiastic for this line, but the pose definitely shows of Chun-Li’s thighs (her main asset) to their full extent. I’m not so keen on the in-your-face-crotch pose, but hey, it’s a fighting game and that’s kind of par for the course. How do you feel about this rendition of the Chinese ass kicker?

The Street Fighter universe has seen quite a few Play Arts Kai releases already, but considering how many characters there are, it’s no surprise to see four new additions to the cast of fighters that received the action figure treatment. Shown off at Toy Fair were Sakura, Ibuki, Ken, and Guile all in their designs from Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. I’m surprised at how well the cloth materials came out on Ibuki and Sakura despite being hard plastic and Ken and Guile come with some amazing clear plastic accessories that really add to the atmosphere. Each figure also has an alternate face as well as some other alternate parts and the line will begin being released in May with Guile and Ibuki at $69.99 each.
