  • I must admit that there was one reveal I was really hoping for from Kotobukiya this convention: a Bishoujo Pinhead art reveal! Sadly, it was not to be. They did have her info card out, and I feel like we might be getting a Halloween reveal for the design. At least, I hope–it’d be the perfect end cap to Spooktober. They did have quite a few game and movie Bishoujos, like the gorgeous new Cammy and Decapre, along with the art for Ash Williams. But it wasn’t all Bishoujos–ArtFX Jason was also out and about, along with Freddy’s announcement. I can’t wait to see them together (and displayed with the Freddy & Jason Bishoujos, how cute would that be?). There was also a Resident Evil statue announcement, and I’m really hoping we get a Bishoujo companion to that.

  • she T H I C C I will admit, when I first saw the art for the new Chun-Li Bishoujo I wasn’t 100% sold, mainly because the long hair was distracting. Where’s the cute buns? But once we saw the sculpt I was sold. I mean, just look at those thighs. Those are the thighs of a girl who will kick your ass and make you say “thank you” after. As usual, the Bishoujo line moved pretty fast and she is now fully painted & up for order. She’ll run you a low ¥8,500, and with a January release date you won’t even have long to wait! I do hope we get some event-exclusive colorways because I think her outfit has a lot of potential in a wide array of designs and colors. Pre-Order At: AmiAmi | Big In Japan | HLJ | Hobby Search

  • We’ve known for a while now that Kotobukiya would be doing a second version of Bishoujo Chun-Li, and I think most of us expected her to pop up at San Diego Comic Con. What I didn’t expect was two Bishes at once from the oft-neglected Street Fighter line: they have a new Cammy as well! It makes sense since these two were released quite close together in their original versions, and it’s kind of amazing to see how far the line has come since then. There is so much more detail here! Those thighs on Chun-Li, man, they’re something else. [via Kotobukiya JP]

  • I’m going to be honest: when Kotobukiya announced a version 2 Chun-Li Bishoujo, I wasn’t exactly over the moon. I like the first one well enough, and do we really need another of her when there are so many awesome Street Fighter ladies waiting in the wings? Survey says… maybe we do! I actually like this art a lot more than I thought I would. I mean, I don’t understand how anyone could fight with their boobs flopping all over the place (the pain), but I love how ripped she looks. Talk about thighs that could crush your head! Plus the long hair shockingly suits her. What do you Plastikitties think? [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook, thanks to Stuart Campbell for the heads up~]

  • Kotobukiya had two Bishoujo-related announcements at Toy Fair: the art for Katana and the full reveal of Kamala. But given at this is a US-centric event, they had a TON more out and about, though funnily enough most of them were from non- comic franchises. It’s amazing how big the line has grown since it started with just Marvel girls! It was mostly movie Bishes on display: Chucky (who might be my all-time fave), Edward Scissorhands, and The Bride. Then there were some video game girls, like Rainbow Mika and Ibuki. We also know that there will be a new Chun-Li, though the sign for her was not out.

  • Was one Chun-Li Bishoujo not enough for you? Well never fear, because a version two is on the way! And this time she has long, flowing hair (or possibly up in a ponytail?). I don’t think I’ve ever seen Chun without her signature buns, so this should be interesting. Plus this is her ‘battle costume’ aka the SFV Premium Outfit. While I’m not surprised that Chun-Li is getting more attention given her popularity, I wonder if we will see new girls in the line next? [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • We have seen a lot from Kotobukiya this year at NYCC. Everything from their panel announcements, Squirrel Girl, Harley Quinn ArtFX+, and the Chucky Bishoujo to their DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and anime figures. And we still have a few behind the glass galleries to come! But for now, we’ve got an overview of everything else they had out on display. Like their Edward Scissorhands Bishoujo (one of my all-time faves from the line), their Clash of Clans figures, Sniper Wold and Lucky Chloe, and the painted Rainbow Mika picture.

  • For fans of Street Fighter’s Ibuki, it’s been a long wait for her Bishoujo version. She was announced a little over a year ago, and then it was all quiet on the eastern front. No painted version, not even a teaser of the sculpt! Which is pretty uncommon in the Bishoujo line, since it tends to move rapidly along. Thankfully, her painted version appeared at Wonder Festival and SDCC. And now she’s all ready for orders! And, like we thought, there will be two versions: the standard, and a special masked face one that’s exclusive to Kotobukiya’s online shop. Right now it’s only on their Japanese one but if she’s anything like the other exclusives, expect her to go up on the US shop very soon (which means no proxy fees!). I really prefer the masked face, so I’m hoping she makes and overseas appearance. [UPDATE] Masked Ibuki is indeed available on KotoUS! Pre-Order At: HLJ | AmiAmi

  • I recently bemoaned the lack of Bishoujo Ibuki at Kotobukiya’s SDCC both. Turns out that she was actually at Wonder Festival instead! I’m guessing she just got painted and they only had one prototype, so obviously it makes sense to keep her close to home. This is a long-awaited figure for a lot of people, so let’s hope she lives up to their expectations! In some shots her face looks beautiful, but it’s a little odd from side angles. I think she’s definitely a figure you’ll need to display at a bit of an angle. I also wonder what that seam in the back of her pants is for–cast-off, maybe? There will also be a masked version of this figure exclusive to Kotobukiya’s online store (both in Japan and the US!). [via moeyo]

  • It seems like we’re getting both extremes of the Bishoujo line today. Cute and creative like Squirrel Girl, and then, uh… boobs. In a move that surprises no one, the next girl in the Street Fighter line will be Rainbow Mika. I wonder if this means we’ll see Ibuki sculpted soon? Let’s hope! I don’t have a lot of love for Rainbow Mika’s outfit (I mean, it’s like Power Girl on freaking crack), but how do you Street Fighter fans feel about it? She’s definitely a neglected character in terms of figures so it’s nice to see her finally getting some attention! [via Shunya’s Twitter]
