Street Fighter Bishoujo Archive

  • We already saw Kotobukiya’s two pieces of Bishoujo news at Toy Fair (the art for Wonder Girl and Thor & Loki), but of course there was lots more–including the newly painted Harley Quinn v2 and Spider Gwen. And my waifu Lucky Chloe. Perhaps most importantly, we got some interesting info about Bishoujo Chucky. A few people thought she was a bit too cutesy for a horror Bish, but never fear! She will come with a second face that’s all scarred/messed up like the real Chucky.

  • We’ve seen a lot from Kotobukiya this NYCC: DC, Marvel, Star Wars, some new announcements and a whole lot of up-close galleries. But Kotobukiya is primarily a PVC manufacturing company, so there were a lot of anime & manga related girls and guys on display as well! Their Hestia was obviously there (though without her alternate face), along with Ken Kaneki, the Black Butler line, the video game Bishoujos, Trigun, Halo, Alien… and their new Saber. I have to say, in press photos she really didn’t impress me (another standing Saber!) but in person? True love. The sculpt is so crisp, and I’m really tempted to place an order now.

  • It was no surprise when Ibuki was announced as the next Street Fighter Bishoujo. I mean, we kind of all knew she would be next! And considering how few figures of her there are, it was a real blessing for Ibuki fans. Sadly, we don’t have a sculpt update, but we do have her art! I’ve always found her outfit bizarrely and wonderfully impractical. Totally covered… except for her hips? Which are totally exposed? Where is her underwear?! I mean, considering so many fighting game girls it’s pretty tame. But still hilarious. You think she’d get chilly. And given Shunya’s love of hips (and butts–I bet she’ll have a nice one) he uses this to full advantage. I’m liking the pose, and can’t wait to see that crazy hair in 3D.

  • Kotobukiya seems to have an exclusive Bishoujo for all the important (US) conventions, and of course NYCC this year will be no exception! We’re about a week away, so just at the last minute Kotobukiya has unveiled what they have up their sleeve: an alternate edition of Sakura Kasugano from Street Fighter, this time in a PE uniform! Gym uniforms seem to be a constant trend in actual anime and manga, but we see them so rarely on figures. I wonder why? I mean, there’s no shortage of maid or swimsuit girls. Sakura is, of course, limited, and will be sold at Kotobukiya’s boot (#1645) and Capcom’s booth (#1420). And like always, a few will be available online after the event! As a bonus, anyone who buys Sakura at the con can get her signed by Yoshinori Ono at the Capcom booth on Saturday, from 2-4PM and Sunday, from 1-3PM. [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Sadly, Plastikitty was not able to get to San Diego Comic Con this year. Well, not sadly for our wallets. Very happily for our wallets. But for our event coverage? Pretty sad. Thankfully, we had some awesome help so we could still bring all our lovely readers shots of the figures at SDCC! Because as we know, Kotobukiya brought basically every Bishoujou they’d had up their sleeve for the past six months. Tali, Spider Gwen, Lady Deadpool, Poison, Harley Quinn v 2, Raven, Zatanna? All here! And, of course, you can check them out in the gallery. We got an especially close look at Poison, who I think there was the most hype about. I mean, given the long wait, that’s to be expected! And (of course) reviews are mixed. Is she too sexy? Is she not sexy enough? Depends on who you ask. Personally, I’m… not sure. I love her face, hair & pose, but I’m not sold on the hips. As for the rest of the Bishoujos? I’m particularly enamored with Lady Deadpool! [Thanks to the amazing Anne Mortensen-Agnew for providing us with these images! <3]

  • Kotobukiya teased that they’d have their painted Poison at San Diego Comic Con, and while she didn’t show up in their official photos she is indeed at the event! Since the art reveal my hopes were pretty high, though I know with Poison there’s a REALLY fine line between great and too tacky, so I tried not to get too excited. She’s sculpted and painted and… well, honestly, it’s kind of hard to tell what exactly her face looks like from this angle. I think the body sculpt came out great (I mean, it’s definitely tacky… but it’s Poison we’re talking about) and her hair looks amazing. The face looks good in the grey sculpt, though, so I’m hoping she’ll look good on a shelf. [via Itakon & Kotobukiya]

  • Since the very inception of the Street Fighter Bishoujo line, fans have been clamoring for Ibuki. It seemed like an obvious choice for the line, but I think a lot of more… aesthetically appealing (*cough*lessclothed*cough*) characters took precedence. But now, it’s finally happening! Bishoujo Ibuki has been announced, and we already know from the outline that she’ll be in an action-oriented pose. [via Koto’s Facebook]

  • Are you sensing the theme of this Miyazawa Model Exhibition? It’s Check Out This Stuff You’ve Already Seen. Because seriously, Kotobukiya’s lineup is almost identical to what we saw at Anime Japan… and most of that wasn’t even new. I was hoping we’d get a peek at Hestia‘s sculpt, but alas, it’s just super cute (but redundant) IDOLM@STER and KanColle girls. Honestly, I feel like that’s the joke at every booth. “Look, IM@S and KanColle!” There is, at least, a pretty cute CuPoche display… I mean, the raincoats. So adorable! [via Akibahobby]

  • We already showed you a quick peek at the new Street Fighter Sakura Bishoujo at Toy Fair, but since this is her first appearance at a US event we of course had to take a closer look! I think it’s no secret that I am not a Street Fighter fan, but I love the direction they’ve been going in with the Bishoujo line. Very true to Shunya’s style! While Sakura has one of the plainer designs, they’ve made her pose super dynamic to make up for that. A lot of the Bishes are leaning or just standing there striking a pose, but we’ve got a nice leap here. Add in the bright primary colors and great butt, and this is definitely a winner.

  • It was only at this past SDCC that Kotobukiya unveiled the art for Street Fighter Bishoujo Sakura, but it seems like this is going to be a pretty fast-moving line because we already have the full sculpt! That’s right, Koto brought her out for this Toy Fair. While I’m admittedly not the biggest Street Fighter fan I’ve been loving the attention to detail in this line. Her face is spot-on and has that Shunya trademark, and her pose is wonderfully dynamic. And that muscle sculpt!
