@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Strike Witches Archive

After all this time… we might actually be nearing the end of Alter’s Strike Witches line! At least for the season one cast lineup. That’s right guys, Lynette Bishop is on the scene! Painted, sculpted, the whole nine yards. Though I don’t think this is the totally finished version, since the shading on her hair looks a little flat. To be honest she’s probably my least favorite Witch so my opinion of the sculpt reflects that: I’m not wowed.
I am, however, head over heels happy that the second version Yoshika they announced is actually a redo of her original sculpt, unlike second version Sanya! Ahh, finally, Yoshika can join my Witches and the whole crew will be here.

After many long years, we are almost at the end of Alter’s Strike Witches line. Yes, for real! It’s actually going to be finished! If you told someone that 3 or 4 years ago they’d probably laugh in your face because this seemed like something that would never come to fruition, but now we’re not only going to get the full main core (fingers crossed… just Lynette now!), but we’ve gotten second versions of some Witches and even characters from 2!
Francesca seems to be one of the most popular girls, so it’s odd that they waited so long to take her on. I loved her sculpt and I love her more painted: this is a line that doesn’t really seem “wow” until you’re actually looking at the figure in person. The detail is just astounding! I’m so happy that soon I’ll have all the girls.

Alter’s Strike Witches line has been immensely popular over the (many) years they’ve been working on the line, and a complete set is a rare thing to see. Mostly because the first two girls, Yoshika and Sanya, are absolutely insanely priced on the aftermarket. You’d be lucky to find either of them for $200 shipped! Compared to the ones floating around retail (or in some cases dipping under!) it seems a little absurd.
Thankfully Alter has realized it’s an issue for collectors and decided to do a second version of Sanya. Not quite as good as a re-release, but we’ll take what we can get! It seems like they’ll be doing something similar with Yoshika, but it’s listed as Yoshika 1.5 release which might mean they are actually going back to the old sculpt like they did with Sanada!

Ah, Sega. Definitely the best prize figure maker in my opinion, but I have a love-hate relationship with prize figures. (Also, just so you know, I originally wrote love-hat relationship. Love Hat.) I love how cheap they are, the variety, the clean sculpts. But… I never display them. Well, almost never–I do have the recent hair-in-the-wind Asuka out proud among my regular Eva girls, and she fits in perfectly. But in my limited display space, they just… don’t fit in. So the boxes collect dust. But they’re so cheap, how can I resist! Space hogging boxes, you flood my apartment. I hate you. I hat you! And yet.. I love you.
I mean, look at all this awesome. The Mikus! Racing 2011, swimming, regular, an announcement for 2012 racing. The Eva girls! Plugsuits, racing queens. There’s Strike Witches and OreImo and Yuru Yuri, there’s Harlock, it’s a cornucopia of delights. And I totally don’t need any of them. But I’ll probably order, like half.

We tend to focus on PVC coverage during Wonder Festival because, well… those are the things most of us can buy! But really, there are about ten times as many garage kits at the event as pre-painted PVC. Actually… that might be underestimating it, the garage kit area is HUGE!
We’ve already shown you some of the kits that will be at the event like Purple Heart, Yagyuu Toshiyuki’s Marisa Kirisame, an acrobatic Saber Bride, chibi Saber Lily, Toda Satoshi’s terrifying Passionlip, and Coneckers’ Momiji. But of course there are a ton more, and we’ve got some really lovely kits this time around. My personal favorites are Vispo’s astonishing Jeanne d’Arc & her horse–though Jeanne seems very popular this WonFest!–, the bathing suit IDOLM@STER trio, the gory Labrys, and Atelier Hiro’s punk rock Miku Hatsune. And my oh my do we have a lot of Mikus. Chec them all out (and plenty more) in the gallery!

Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen.
So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

After a few rather lackluster months, the Hobby Japan scans are back on track! We have a pretty action-packed lineup for you this time around, with almost twice as many figures as we’ve been seeing the past few months. Though let’s start up with a bit of bad news: there’s rumors from these scans that figma Strength has been cancelled! Only rumors, but anyway, let’s get onto the good.
We’ve got lots of ladies for you, and finally the return of Good Smile Company & co in the scaled figure section. I don’t know why they went missing for so long but oh well, they’re back now with some shiny goodies. We’ve also got not one but TWO devils from the Seven Sins lineup, which is awesome because for the past few months it’s been nothing but art. So without any more delays, hit the jump and let’s get right to the good stuff!

Welcome to the return of the roundup! Sadly we here at Plastikitty got hit by a nasty spring flu so we’ve been out of commission in terms of the roundup for a few weeks, but now we’re back in business! Though technically it’s the roundup for the week of 3/29~4/4 we’re also featuring some of the best figures from the week before as well.
So what do we have in store? Tons of pretty ladies! In fact we’ve got releases from almost all the major manufacturers, including some that I have been really looking forward to. Check them all out after the jump!

I started collecting Alter’s Strike Witches line with the third release, Charlotte, and sadly I’ve been unable to complete the set since the first two (Yoshika and Sanya) are both outrageously expensive on the after-market. So I was thrilled when back in July Alter unveiled a second version of Sanya: the Rocket Booster edition! But the paint job left me wanting.
We’re getting a second preview now, and I am much happier! I still don’t love the coat but she comes with an alternate torso featuring her normal outfit along with a calmer face. Plus the antenna the first preview was missing! And the image of her with Eila, my favorite witch, looks just lovely! I really can’t wait for this release, and with only three unreleased girls (Perrine, Lynette, and Francesca) we are getting very close to wrapping up the series.
[UPDATE] Alter’s blog has shown off some official shots, as well as given us a date she is going up for order: the 3rd, tomorrow night!
