Super Dangan-Ronpa Archive

  • Kotobukiya’s ArtFX J line so far has been dedicated to reviving older series like Yu-Gi-Oh or Yu Yu Hakusho, but it seems like they are going to be changing it up a bit! That’s right, a (much) newer license has landed in the line: Dangan Ronpa! We’ve got two character announcements, Hinata Hajime and Nagito Komaeda. Finally, some male figures from the series! • Dangan-Ronpa has a lot of fans, and the figure companies seem to be eager to please them. First we had Algernon Project’s Junko, then Monokuma, Monomi and Makoto Nendoroids, and then of course Phat!’s gorgeous sculpt of Kyouko. I honestly didn’t think we would be getting any scaled figures of the boys though, but it turns out I was wrong! Algernon Project will be releasing a figure of Nagito Komaeda, who gives me some serious Bakura vibes. Seriously, the hair! It seems he’ll have at least two display options: hands like you see them in the header, or held out in from of him with, uh, a… wavy dark line? Nice attention to detail, Algernon Project! I can totally make out what that is! On one hand options are nice: on the other, they jack up the price. Hopefully he looks good painted, I found Junko to be a bit of a disappointment. • Good Smile Company tends to fast-track Nendoroids they think will be particularly popular, and given how many people are totally freaking out over the (apparent) awesomeoness of Super Dangan-Ronpa it’s no surprise how quickly Monomi has flown to production. She was announced at Wonder Festival, sculpted at ACE, and painted at Miyazawa Model Exhibition. In fact, that might be the single fastest announcement-to-completion I’ve ever seen on a Nendoroid. However, the rush shows. Monomi comes with almost no accessories. She’s got a crying face and a twig. That’s it. All of the cool accessories in Mikatan’s shoot? She borrowed them from other things. The musical notes are part of the ‘Nendoroid More’ line and the rope doesn’t come with her either. Everything else comes with Monokuma. Sigh…. I’d have waited another month if it meant a more complete package. [via Mikatan]

  • Good Smile Company & Co sure do love an excuse to show off their figures. They’re at it again with a handful of Nendoroids on display: none of the sculpts are new, in fact we saw them all at Winter Wonder Festival! Well except for Monomi, who was only art at the time and got a reveal later on. We’ve got two versions of the redone version of Nozomu Itoshiki, who will be manufactured by Gift and comes not just in his regular colors but also in black and white! The ghostly vibe is quite fitting, given how his goal in life is, well, to die. They’re both priced at ¥3,800. Akane Tsunemori from the very popular Psycho Pass is also painted and looking adorable! Check them all out in the gallery. [via GSC_GUMA]

  • Dangan-Ronpa has had a sudden surge in popularity recently. We have the REFLECT-sculpted Junko, two figures announced from Phat! Company, and of course Nendoroid Monokuma! As announced at Wonder Festival Good Smile Company is doing at least one more in the line: the ladylike Monomi! While I am not really digging the whole diaper aspect, Monomi is pretty cute in a very strange sort of way. Like Monokuma I assume she’ll be quite simple in the end, but will have a price to match. • Dangan-Ronpa is certainly on the rise recently, with a nice showing at Wonder Festival and a huge amount of fans online. Of course Good Smile is not going to pass up the opportunity for Nendoroids when it comes to a popular show, so they announced a Nendoroid of Monokuma quite some time ago, and he showed up painted in their Wonder Festival lineup. Being a bear and all he doesn’t come with much: two expressions (standard and creepy laughing) and a mallet and button. Yup, that’s it! But thankfully his retail is a low ¥3,000, making it affordable to get a whole army of this cute/creepy fellow. We’ll have all the order links in our weekly roundup! I wonder if GSC will be making any more Nendoroids from the show? [via Mikatan]

  • More Wonder Festival teasers! This time from Algernon Project, who haven’t made that many scaled PVC figures but are starting up with Junko Enoshima from Super Dangan-Ronpa. Great news for fans, who so far have only gotten one Nendoroid. And she’ll be sculpted by REFLECT, unsurprising since he did their Donut Cats. He’s just all over the place anymore, isn’t he? Expect to see the sculpt at Wonder Festival! [via Algernon Project]

  • It’s been a while since we’ve seen a solid monthly NicoNico broadcast from Good Smile Company & co. Indeed, they’ve been completely lacking in real news recently! Well, they are definitely making up for it with this month’s batch of goodies. They’re all Nendoroids, but boy are there some good ones. Let’s start with the prototypes: on the painted side of things, we’ve got Houki Shinonono from Infinite Stratos (who comes with some great faces) and a Project Mirai version of Miku Hatsune, which just happens to be Nendoroid #300 (called it!). We’ve also got a peek at the Rin & Wooser Nendoroid, along with the announcement for Dark Wooser. As for unpainted prototypes, we have Append versions of Vocaloids Rin & Len along with Kobato Hasegawa from Boku wa. On the announcement front we have: Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura, Monokuma from Super Dangan-Ronpa, and Rin Natsume from Little Busters along with the aforementioned Dark Wooser. That’s right, finally Sakura! There are some great announcements here, so what are you looking forward to? [via Figure/GK]
