Tali Archive

  • Tali is my favorite Mass Effect girl (though truly Wrex is #1 in my heart), so of course I’ve been dying for her Bishoujo. The announcement, which followed Bishoujos Liara and Commander Shepard (review), had me totally over the moon. Because who doesn’t want a purple, gas mask-wearing alien in their collection? Her art and sculpt were released almost back to back and were followed shortly by pre-orders. I feel like I’ve been waiting ages for her, but it was actually a pretty quick turnaround–it just seems longer because I’ve been dreaming of her since we first found out about Liara. So does Tali live up to my expectations? Hit the jump and let’s find out!

  • Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo FemShep got a recolor, so it’s not really that surprising that Tali is getting one too! Well, a little surprising, given that FemShep’s recolor focused on her hair–which is, of course, changeable in the game since she’s the MC. So different hair colors for different choices! Tali doesn’t have visible hair (or a face) so obviously it’s going to be a little different. The update her is her outfit: it’s light grey and purple instead of the original black/dark grey and purple. I still like the original colorway better, but this is a nice subdued option. Like FemShep, she’s a Bioware store exclusive, and limited to 2,000 pieces. Her price is set at $89, and shipping beings in March 2016 so we’ve got a long wait! Snag one here.

  • Given that we just saw Tali painted at San Diego Comic Con, it’s no surprise that orders for her are about to open. She’s certainly been one of the more hyped Bishoujo releases: since the very beginning people have been clamoring for her, and I think a lot of us were disappointed (but maybe not surprised) when we got FemShep first. The final sculpt is pretty much dead-accurate to the art, but I’m honestly not 100% sure how I feel about it. I think the details are great, and the colors look fabulous. But something about the pose seems a little… unnatural to me. Stiff, I think. I don’t even mind that she doesn’t have an alternate unmasked head (probably because I’m distracted by the Shunya-butt), but I do wish her posing felt a little more natural. • Sadly, Plastikitty was not able to get to San Diego Comic Con this year. Well, not sadly for our wallets. Very happily for our wallets. But for our event coverage? Pretty sad. Thankfully, we had some awesome help so we could still bring all our lovely readers shots of the figures at SDCC! Because as we know, Kotobukiya brought basically every Bishoujou they’d had up their sleeve for the past six months. Tali, Spider Gwen, Lady Deadpool, Poison, Harley Quinn v 2, Raven, Zatanna? All here! And, of course, you can check them out in the gallery. We got an especially close look at Poison, who I think there was the most hype about. I mean, given the long wait, that’s to be expected! And (of course) reviews are mixed. Is she too sexy? Is she not sexy enough? Depends on who you ask. Personally, I’m… not sure. I love her face, hair & pose, but I’m not sold on the hips. As for the rest of the Bishoujos? I’m particularly enamored with Lady Deadpool! [Thanks to the amazing Anne Mortensen-Agnew for providing us with these images! <3]

  • Well, it’s been a long time coming. I think people wanted a Bishoujo of Tali even more than one of FemShep or Liara: at least that’s what it seems like from fan opinion! She was announced finally in October, and we got a silhouette tease at Winter WonFest, but we’ve all been patiently waiting for the full art reveal. And… it looks like Tali! With her face covered, it’s hard to get a huge amount of Shunya influence. Though I’ll be honest, I REALLY did not want a sexed-up Tali, so this art is definitely making me happy! I wonder if she’ll be crouched over or just tilting forward a little in the actual sculpt? [UPDATE] We have a pic of her (painted!!) sculpt from Itakon. I love her little alien toes. • It seems like forever ago that we reviewed Kotobukiya’s Commander Shepard figure and even since we announced that Tali will be receiving the bishoujo treatment, but now, we’re finally getting the third figure in the Mass Effect bishoujo line! There’s not much new here with Tali, but we know that her art is completed by Shunya Yamashita at the very least if we’re getting an outline like this. Maybe we’ll see her next weekend at Toy Fair? Who knows! Either way, I’m excited because Tali is awesome. [via kotobukiyas’s Twitter]

  • The Mass Effect Bishoujo line has been slow, slow going. First there was Liara, and then more recently FemShep. But everyone wanted to know if there would be more joining the lineup. And by more, I mean Tali. And Miranda. Well, it’s finally happening: Tali’s announcement! On a scale of 1 to 10, I am 11 levels of excited right now. I love Tali so much and can’t wait to see what Shunya does with her design.

  • Square-Enix had a lot of figures on display at New York Comic Con, as they seemingly do for every convention! There aren’t many changes from the San Diego Comic Con lineup: Commander Shepard, Female Commander Shepard, Ashley, Garrus, and Tali were all on display. I think Tali and Garrus are really the best looking out of the bunch, especially Garrus who they really managed to capture. It’s been a while since this group was painted, so I wonder if we’ll be getting some more announcements soon? Perhaps a certain Wrex…? I know I’d love to have a figure of him!

  • At the start of San Diego Comic Con, we brought you a look at the new Mass Effect Play Arts Kai with the promise of a full gallery. Well, here it is! We got to get up close and personal with the line, and I have to say Tali has totally won me over. I think the faces on the humans aren’t entirely on point, but Tali and Garrus just look amazing! I really hope they do a Wrex, because I adore him and would love to have a little one running around amidst my figures.

  • Back at Toy Fair, Square-Enix announced a line of Mass Effect Play Arts Kai featuring Commander Shepard, Garrus, and Ashley. Well, all 3 of them are painted now! Garrus looks particularly dashing, though alien faces do seem easier to render than human ones. There are also 2 new announcements: Tali and FemShep! I am so happy to see Tali joining the line, though I am surprised she made it before Liara. [via Square-Enix’ Facebook]
