  • I am rarely tempted by event-exclusive PVC figures or statues but I have to say, guys, I wanted Kotobukiya’s NYCC Spider-Man ArtFX+ really badly. He’s got a scarf and a warm hat and earmuffs and my goodness is he adorable! Also toasty. I mean, it was 82 for most of Comic Con (yes, in NYC in October) so he was a bit overdressed. But still cute. Kotobukiya had quite a few other Marvel cuties at their booth, like Bishoujo Ms. Marvel who was just released, and their gorgeous Statue Arts Spider-Man. Also Bish Squirrel Girl, my one true love. Check them out and more in the gallery!

  • Kotobukiya surprisingly didn’t have that many Marvel announcements this year: just Ms Marvel and the Spider-Family ArtFX+. But, of course, there were still Marvel figures out and about! Mostly Bishoujo, of course, like Loki & Thor, Spider Gwen, and the amazing Squirrel Girl. Oh, and that ridiculous Deadpool and the less ridiculous but still cool Vision! Check ’em out after the jump.

  • The star of Kotobukiya’s Marvel display at NYCC was, of course, Squirrel Girl. But there was much more, including quite a few Bishoujos: Lady Deadpool, Spider Gwen, and Loki & Thor were all out and about. In fact, they had two Spider Gwens: Bishoujo and the new ArtFX+. For the first time ever, I think I might actually like the ArtFX+ better. They had tons of statues out, like the Civil War battle diorama of Captain America and Iron Man (which would look amazing displayed with Hulkbuster). Check them all out in the gallery!

  • I’ve been smitten with Kotobukiya’s Thor & Loki Bishoujos since we first saw the art at Toy Fair. I mean, evil girls are my jam so I was of course in love with Loki in particular. We got the sculpt reveal just a few days ago, and I still wasn’t sure how I felt about Thor. Well, after seeing more detail shots I can safely say that while Loki is still #1 babe, Thor is definitely growing on me. It’s really the cape that I love: the vibrant red & detailed sculpt make it look like real fabric, a hard feat to pull off. We got to take a super-detailed behind the glass look at both of these beauties at SDCC, so check out the gallery below! • As we saw from their teasers, Kotobukiya had their Thor and Loki Bishoujos out on display at San Diego Comic Con! I was pretty excited for these two based on the art, especially Loki because we all know that she’s the superior of the two. I mean, how can you deny those horns? They’re magnificent. I’m really thrilled with how Loki came out: very sleek and seductive. The detailing on her cape and outfit is particularly nice. I’m not as sold on Thor, though: maybe it’s the harsh event lighting but she just looks less shaded & detailed. Then again I’m not a huge Thor fan so it’s probably confirmation bias. • It’s only a few hours until preview night at SDCC starts (and 3 days until Wonder Festival!) but companies have been surprisingly quiet for both events. Not that many teasers for some reason! But Kotobukiya is here to save the day with some sneaky shots of their Thor and Loki Bishoujos, a release I’ve been pretty hype for. I’m, of course, more excited for Loki and she looks great! It’s also clear that Thor will come with an unmasked face, although that’s pretty par for the course for the Bishoujo lines. What I’m really wondering is if their bases will fit together: obviously they’re meant to be displayed as one, so how will that work? [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Kotobukiya had quite a few Bishoujo reveals at Wonder Festival, but by far the most surprising was the announcement of Thor & Loki. Given that girl Thor is recent and girl Loki is oldschool, I was shocked to see this pop up. I mean, maybe I shouldn’t have been given how much people love Marvel Movie Universe Thor & Loki, but I didn’t even consider the possibility of them in Bish form! Thankfully we didn’t have to wait long at all for the reveal, because both were at Toy Fair! Loki is looking sassy as always, and girl-Thor looks like she’s gonna kick your ass with some very impressive musculature. I wonder how their sculpts will turn out?

  • In all the wondering about what Marvel Bishoujo would be next, I don’t think anyone guessed this! I mean, probably someone did. But little did they know they were actually right and not just dreaming, because Kotobukiya will be bringing us gender-swapped Bishoujos of Thor & Loki. What a twist! We haven’t seen much gender-swapping in the Bishoujo line, aside from the movie ones, so this is truly a surprise. And while I usually hate ~sexy genderswap~ I’m pretty excited for crazy femme Loki. I mean, I know there’s technically a girl Thor, but still… I’m just gonna see girl Chris Hemsworth when I look at this. [via Shunya Yamashita]

  • I spent a very long time staring at that picture of Chariot before I realized that it was a figma, and not a scaled figure with the most boring pose of all time. Okay okay, it was like 30 seconds, but still. Dat detail. She’s so pretty! And to think, we all thought she was getting cancelled. Well, she’s probably going to cost like a hundred bucks so that’s close enough to being cancelled for my wallet. Sigh. The Dawn of the Dead zombie was also on display at Miyazawa Model Expo, along with some of the super-expensive, why-can’t-I-own-these Avengers: Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man. You know what I would shell out like $75 for? Black Widow. No questions asked, she doesn’t have to come with a single accessory. Please, figure gods. Please. [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • Well we took a look at the DC ArtFX+, so of course it’s time to cover their “rival” Marvel as well! They had most of their Avengers Marvel Now! ArtFX+ on display, including Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk–who we last saw at NYCC, looking pretty impressive even without the paint. That and it was also the debut for their sculpts of Thor and Iron Man, both of which look great! You might have noticed I said “most of” even though the full cast is apparently here: that’s because they had an announcement for an Iron Man 3 ArtFX+! Exciting. I wonder if we’ll ever get a Scarlet Johansson-based Black Widow? Because I’d buy that in about 1 second.
