  • It’s that time again! Wonder Festival is only 2 days away, so we’re bringing you our annual roundup of some of the best garage kits that will be at the event. Because, as you probably know, Wonder Festival has way more gks than PVC figures but we can’t get our greedy little paws on them. Plus, if we did, we can’t paint. But, as always, if you can paint/will be at the event, all images are labeled with both the circle & character name. The tides seem to be changing this WonFest. There’s very little of our usual standards, like Miku Hatsune or KanColle, and the new darling Re;Zero seems to have already fallen off. Instead we have a TON of Fate girls (both Grand Order and Extella), quite a bit of Persona 5 merchandise, and some truly stunning original characters. And more Adventure Time! Check them all out after the jump. [via i_con, horikazz, crea mode, amie grand, Akiba Weekend, moeyo, vispo, wonder showcase, mfc]

  • While obviously for Wonder Festival is on PVC figures that you can actually buy, there are always 10x more garage kits than commercially produced merchandise. The dealer room is absolutely massive, and if we attempted to hunt down and show you every single kit at the event it’d probably take several days worth of coverage. And, you know, it’s kind of bittersweet because they’re pretty but you can’t buy them (unless you have a proxy + the skill, time, & money to paint one). This year we had a pretty decent lineup, though I have to say I think it was lacking a bit compared to the last few. There was a LOT of Kantai Collection–mostly Iowa and Kashima, oddly enough. Of course we had Fate/Stay Night, IDOLM@STER, Love Live, and tons more (like a surprise Adventure Time figure!). Check them all out in the gallery. [via Dengeki, toshigk, & Ryuko KASINN]

  • Wonder Festival is a little over 24 hours away, and you know what that means–time for the traditional roundup of the garage kits that will be available at the event! Well, obviously not all of them, because there are hundreds. And a lot of them are terrible. So we go through and weed out the best/most interesting of the bunch to bring to you! This year there is a whole, whole lot of Kantai Collection. Even more than at Winter Wonder Festival! There’s also, no surprise, a ton of Sailor Moon figures since the license is open. Though there’s a surprising lack of Cardcaptor Sakura. We also have the traditional batch of kits from Cerberus Project and T’s System, along with tons tons more from franchises like Dark Souls, Evangelion, Vocaloid, and Monster Hunter. Check them all out after the jump! And like always, kits are labeled with their circle so if you happen to be at WonFest, you can snatch them up. • The kits on display & for sale at Wonder Festival usually reflect bigger trends in the PVC market. So, of course, there’s a veritable shipload of Kantai Collection girls at this Winter Wonder Festival. Like, a lot. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this many kits for one show/game, even when everyone was popping out Madoka figures. It’s kind of overwhelming–so we’ve separated them out of the garage kit roundup so they can have their own cluster-ship post. There’s a little something for everyone here: chibi Wo-Class, amazingly tacky Wo-Class, normal Wo-Class. And, you know, some figures that aren’t Wo-Class. I’m really happy to see the bad girls getting more attention, like the adorable Northern Princess! So cute. And of course there are tons of good girls, including not nearly as many Shimakazes as I expected. Check them all out in the gallery! • With the coveted Sailor Moon license finally up for grabs, there are a lot of possibilities out on the horizon. I know most people would like to see either Good Smile Company or Alter get their hands on it, but my wish is a bit more unconventional: many years ago, one of my favorite sculptors worked on a ton of the cast: T’s System still on occasion produces PVC versions of some of Takeshi Miyagawa’s sculpts, so I’d love to see some go into production! Sure, it’s been about a decade and some of these show their age, but others are just perfect! That Chibi Moon is to die for, and who wouldn’t want that Dark Lady gracing their mantle? • Takeshi Miyagawa is a divisive sculptor, but I’ve always loved his works and eagerly await the batch of sculpts his circle, T’s System, will have ready for Wonder Festival. For Winter 2013 they have quite the lineup, though there’s a bit of character crossover from their Summer 2012 girls. We’ve got, surprise, a Miku Hatsune! This time in her Append getup, along with Rin Kagamine in a bikini. Sena Kashiwazaki is making a return as well, though this time in a skimpy button-down shirt. There is, of course, a Saber, following in the trend of Saber Lily’s lovely shorter dress. Sword Art Online gets a double feature with Asuna and swimsuit Silica, and last but not least we have Kuroyukihime in beach garb! No Madoka this time, surprisingly. And is it just me, or do Rin and Silica have the same exact body sculpt?! [via T’s System]

  • T’s System, the circle run by one of my favorite sculptors Takeshi Miyagawa, always brings out the big guns for Wonder Festivals. Last winter they blew me away with a ridiculous lineup of kits based mostly on very new properties. This time they are going mainly for throwback and older licenses, and there are some real gems in here. The star of the show is a double kit of Sakura Kinomoto and Tomoyo Daidouji, which is just so freaking adorable! Miyagawa has done many kits from Cardcaptor in the past, usually in her multitude of battle costumes, but it’s nice to see a simpler take on the character. And we certainly don’t have enough figures of Tomoyo! The other “big deal” figure is Saber: Miyagawa has also done a few Sabers, most recently Lily and Extra, but he’s going back to her original design with a battle damaged Saber this time. Then we’ve got some swimsuit figures: Sena Kashiwazaki from Boku wa Tomodachi, and Kanna Tanigawa from Ano Natsu. I’m surprised to see Kanna in the lineup, since she doesn’t seem very popular: I definitely prefer the sculpt for Sena. To no one’s surprise we are getting another Miku, this time in her Red Hood outfit. It’s one of my favorite of her designs, and she looks cute here. Last but not least is Einhart Stratos, a Nanoha girl we haven’t seen much of. In fact, Alter announced a figure of her and then never mentioned it again… maybe she’ll pop up at WonFest? I’m hoping Clayz picks up a few of these to mass-produce, especially Sakura & Tomoyo… but not as resin kits, please! [via T’s System]

  • Takeshi Miyagawa is one of my favorite sculptors, so I am always excited to see what he has lined up for events. This Wonder Festival there are quite a few: we have adorable versions of Madoka and Mami, a lovely Himari Takakura in her Princess of Crystal outfit, Sena looking sassy, a grumpy Miku, and a very busty Charlotte from IS. Himari in particular is gorgeous, and a very different take on her than the French Doll version. It seems like Good Smile Company is also making a figure of her… it seems like Himari is the star of WonFest! Of course I want every single one of these, but alas, they are garage kits. Wonder Festival is only a few hours away, so unless you have a proxy’s phone numbers these are going to be hard to get! But we can always hope that either T’s System will make PVC versions or Clayz will pick them up, as Miyagawa works with both companies. [via T’s Systems]
